Matthew Goldman is the name. Here's his summary. / He worked as an art director in the past, starting with Dragon Age Origins. Since then he's been on the other 2 Dragon Age titles and other BioWare projects. He is now in charge of maintaining the vision and directing teams of writers, artists and designers for the Dragon Age Franchise. Suffice it to say, it sounds like the franchise was left in good hands, considering it's legacy staff going all the way back to Origins. Hopefully he alongside Patrick Weekes are planning a masterful new DA title.

Are you saying he was a *lead* on Origins and took *more of a back seat* on the other two installments?
If so, I believe those who preferred the aesthetic of Origins will be beyond pleased. Ecstatic.

I believe they had Mass Effect's concept artist as lead on Inquisition which is why it became so vibrant and flashy. I don't know how this guy does things. Art Director isn't the same as concept artist anyway.

I'm not saying he isn't, but from his profile, it only specifically mentions Dragon Age under Principle Art Director. I only point this out as he's not the only one with a "Creative Director" title in Edmonton - Daniel Kading is another for example.

Suffice it to say, it sounds like the franchise was left in good hands, considering it's legacy staff going all the way back to Origins. Hopefully he alongside Patrick Weekes are planning a masterful new DA title. He was a senior artist on Origins, and Art Director on the other 2. So even if he were Dragon Age's new creative developer, where he'd want to take the franchise is anyone's guess

I miss Knowles Discussion on Dragon Age 2 began around this time and looking ahead I knew that I wasn’t going to be satisfied with what Dragon Age 2 would be. Party control/tactical combat are huge factors in my enjoyment of a role-playing game as is adopting the role of the hero (i.e., customizing my character). I was fairly certain Dragon Age would transition towards more of a Mass Effect experience, which while enjoyable is not the type of role-playing game I play. Could I be the lead designer on such a title? Certainly… though if I were going to work on a game adopting a set-in-stone protagonist I’d rather work on something lighter, like a shooter.
Through a series of circumstances it was decided that with my not wanting to participate on Dragon Age 2 it was time to transition in a new leadblog.brentknowles.com/2010/08/15/bioware-brent-year-10-fall-2008-summer-2009/

I don't really know what to think. He's been working on DA since origins and worked on Jade Empire. He's the guy who was really fond of spikes in DA2, wanted DAI to look like an old fashioned painting and created a huge Iron Bull penis that didn't make the cut.*cough*
Mostly he comes across as a visual art guy, creative director is not just about visual art though so ...*shrug*

and created a huge Iron Bull penis that didn't make the cut.*cough* You do understand that he did that for his own (and other devs') amusement, right? While he was messing around with it, that it would ever be in the game likely wasn't ever a consideration. There was no way that that would make it in the game in connection with a sex scene (where it would be shown). That would earn it an AO rating, which is pretty much a death sentence for mainstream games.

It's reassuring that somebody who's been working on DA since the beginning is the new creative director.
DAO is the least visually appealing game of the three to me personally. Guess I'm in the minority here. But I liked them all, radically different as they were. I'd like DA4 to have the DAO darkspawn, DA2 elves and qunari, and DAI armor.

Say... werent games like dark souls popular? And origins was sort of like that as well. Atleast the art style. Maybe they want to make it so again?

You're saying DA:O's art was actually good? DAO is brown, with some green and gray. Needless to say, I loved DAI's visual aesthetic.
