It's amazing to me that people can accept the kind of stuff they did with that vinyl piece. I saw the same livestreams that Angry Joe saw, with a 'Plethora' or armor as he said. Which means, they stripped this stuff out the game, and are now selling it back to players at cost. Then they mark it up to a ridiculous cost in game currency so that they have an out to say "well it's obtainable in game", knowing damn well someone is going to say $8.50 is not a lot to pay considering how long it would take me to earn this much money in game. They made money hard to obtain for this very reason. Rewards aren't proportionate to the work required, not close. They made crafting give crap results because they know you can't obtain mats at the rate you craft so you have to buy them with real money. You need five embers to make something all game, and then all of a sudden it scales to 25 embers for a masterwork item. Sadly, I'm sure some people actually bought this vinyl at this ridiculous cost as well as other things. They're just hurting the community as a whole because buying this stuff just encourages this type of behavior in the future. We'll get a Dragon Age game with 3 armor sets in game and 20 in the shop to buy. People seem to be latching onto this, but if you watch the stream carefully, there are actually only a few unique pieces whose icons are repeated over and over across the page. I think what it was actually doing was showing all four armor slots at once with one icon for each set. Also note that it was showing icons for different kinds of javelins in the menu. You can see both ranger and storm helmets on the menu, for example. So ultimately it doesn't seem like there's much stuff ready that BW is holding back. I leave it to you to decide whether that's better than it being done and released over time.

I know ;-) I just wanted to imply that EVERYTHING (not just decals/paintjobs, but also armors/skins) should be free (in a 60$ game), even though the latest require a bit more work The defenders of the GaaS/Liiiiive Seeeervicesss would like you to believe companies MUST have F2P systems implemented even on a full priced game because "servers" or other bollocks. Remember the old games? the ones that didn't sell 6 million copies not EVER even on a good year, and those you could play in MP without any money spent because you already paid for the game? companies weren't so greedy. Seems like the defenders forget easily and eat whatever trash this industry tosses at them regarding this and other matters.

I too am oddly thinking about getting TD2 for co-op even though it's sooo not my type of game, lol. Been playing "Wolfpack" as coop game. It's kinda super nerdy tho. 5 ppl share a submarine and attack convoy. That actually sounds pretty fucking cool. Where could I learn moar?

5 players max per boat and I think it's 3 boats max per lobby. Or 4?

To all considering The Division 2 - I am a strong supporter of both Div1 and 2, I picked up D2 and it's excellent though obviously you have to be able to enjoy the slower pace. The second one is HARDER than the first, even on normal difficulty missions, and you are punished for trying to simply run and gun your way through encounters so beware that if you haven't played it before.
But yeah the amount of content they launched with is goddamn unfathomable, it sets the new standard for looter shooter games. And even doing the little things like farming for commendations (like achievements but more granular and lots of them) aren't as tedious as Anthem so it's more enjoyable to just progress on that for a day or two. There's also really cool little things to do like do the puzzles to collect [REDACTED], grab all the collectibles, etc.
It's just that the gameplay style is the big hurdle for some folks. Tactical cover shooters are really kinda 5 years ago, but if you're not bothered by the loss of "fLyInG lIkE iRoN mAn" and you want a well made looter shooter then for sure try out Div2. I can answer any questions about it you want.

Early game in Division 2 is pretty enjoyable, and also helps in teaching players how to make builds early; by having gear belonging to various "Sets". Most of what you'll do feels like your getting something beneficial in return. Don't play it for the story, since that's not it's strong suit, but just enjoy the experience. Progressing through World Tier (the endgame difficulties) 1-3 isn't too bad, but once you get to World Tier 4 the game will kick your teeth in; which should be noted. Enemies will likely two or three-tap you, and you're expected to output a lot of DPS on a target. Overall, I can agree that, in terms of content, it is a solid looter-shooter experience. As for technical bugs, they do exist; such as enemies glitching down to lower-leveled floors. If you're playing on console (like me), you might experience a bit of stuttering from time to time. They're infrequent, but will likely happen.

Borderlands 2: Handsome Edition is on sale for 15 bucks on Steam. Boyfriend played it way back and is now begging me to buy it so we can replay together. I'm inclined to give it a shot. Keep hearing how it was looter shooter done right. So let's see if I can enjoy that genre after all. Bioware's version of both open world and looter shooter is not a good messure for anything anyway... If I like it, Borderlands 3 is on the horizon too (but I'd bet money it's going to be Epic exclusive at first).

Just one word: WUT? Why Anthem Might be having Loot/Store/Scaling IssuesIt's one of those conspiracy theories I'm really not sure about but still... Wut? EDIT: If this is true and really used in Anthem... my gosh!

Yeah, old news. At that time, loot boxes were the thing. I call it an addiction algorithm. EA profiles you to the point they can adjust the game to keep you playing. So, if the player is predicted to leave the game, it starts to reward you. How well and if it gets implemented remains to be seen.

Online stores already adjust the prices based on how many times you browse an item. The more often you click on it, the more expensive it becomes because they know you're seriously considering buying it.
Anybody defending GaaS games is part of the problem. Disgusting business model.

I wonder if the whole play with friends angle plays into that. Maybe they think if you are playing with friends you are more likely to stick around and keep playing. It’s certainly true in my case. A group of friends in mmos kept me playing far longer than I might have otherwise.

A group of friends in mmos kept me playing far longer than I might have otherwise. Very true in my case too. If there weren't people I had a blast with, I would probably never spent that much time in SWTOR or GW2 or even here in Anthem ( saandirg, giubba, MKI)

Wouldn't it be funny if the couple of loot showers we got were the AI doing it's thing? Server reset for a patch, data gets reset somewhere too, AI thinks people haven't played for months and "phat lewt" mode engaged for everyone to try and keep them playing 😁

This was the case for me in anthem. I lost a lot interest soon after I hit lvl 30, but I kept playing because my best friend was. But he's moved on to Division 2, and I started playing Sekiro.

The AI conspiracy starts to get even better. There are several anecdotal (so far) claims from people who say they have consistently way better luck in Legendary drop rates compared to their friends. The difference? The "lucky" players spent a good ammount of money on Anthem's MTX...
Edit: I wonder if the "health bug" is the AI actually tweaking the difficulty per player. Btw, this "bug" is still not fixed despite Bioware's patch claims.

Just one word: WUT? Why Anthem Might be having Loot/Store/Scaling IssuesIt's one of those conspiracy theories I'm really not sure about but still... Wut? EDIT: If this is true and really used in Anthem... my gosh!
Dynamic difficulty adjustment
Patent number: 9919217
Abstract: Embodiments of systems presented herein may perform automatic granular difficulty adjustment. In some embodiments, the difficulty adjustment is undetectable by a user. Further, embodiments of systems disclosed herein can review historical user activity data with respect to one or more video games to generate a game retention prediction model that predicts an indication of an expected duration of game play. The game retention prediction model may be applied to a user's activity data to determine an indication of the user's expected duration of game play. Based on the determined expected duration of game play, the difficulty level of the video game may be automatically adjusted.
Type: Grant
Filed: March 8, 2016
Date of Patent: March 20, 2018
Assignee: Electronic Arts Inc.
Inventors: Navid Aghdaie, John Kolen, Mohamed Marwan Mattar, Mohsen Sardari, Su Xue, Kazi Atif-Uz Zaman, Kenneth Alan Moss
Change of flow and /reddit mods reapproved the very first post of this (with explanation what happened): The real reason for LOOT, BALANCE and STORE issues in Anthem
