How would you feel if Bioware include this type of character to appeal to the American sorority girl types to send the message that they don't have to give up their femininity to be strong? What would you think of that social justice agenda? Can someone explain, what an American sorority girl is to a hapless European? I find Cas quite beautiful btw. All the women in inquisition are stunning and I'm glad, that at least two can be romanced by a female inqui too. If I have one criticism, it's , that Josies romance is a bit too sugary (not a Disney fan here). Normally, I don't care, how the companions look, I don't look for a real life substitute, but for an interesting story. My favorite in DAI is Iron Bull and he is hardly Prince Charming or even conventionally good looking. But he is a great character with a lot of interaction with his Kadan. While i'm not from the US, it's a women who's in college that belongs to an organisation for only women where they live together in a house, and do things like charity events and social gatherings. Why a women in college needs to be told they can be feminine (specially when the definition here appears to be wear make up with long styled hair) and be strong, I have no idea. I graduated recently, did a male-dominated degree (SHOCK! HORROR!), have long hair and when it's not a 9 am lecture (which it practically always was) was known to wear make up and had friends who also wore make up and had long hair. No one seemed to care much. Considering the smells wafting over towards me from some hapless individuals, they didn't seem to care much about their own grooming habits, nevermind anyone elses.

Can someone explain, what an American sorority girl is to a hapless European? If we're going with the common stereotypes these girls generally have a valley girl accent, lots of makeup, and great hair/clothes. Any American college/high school movie has these girls in the party scenes. In reality I don't know much about them except that they're members of a college student organization.

A girly feminine yet strong female knight who can be romanced by both female and male protagonists. So how many gamers would be offended at such a character? Would you call her Ms fanservice? Would you consider her a boring character? I think a cool way to do this type of character is that she starts off as a non-combatant, and her character arc involves learning how to fight and becomes a warrior in order to survive.

It's not even regarding them being gay honestly. I meant as a character "archetype" in general why is this something we sort of latch onto? It's one of the major archetypes. Not sure why you are singling it out. If you mean why I prefer that over the shy or tsundere archetypes, that's just personal preference. Also might be partly because the "suave rogue" is kinda stereotypical to some degree, and the noble knight is probably as opposite as you can get in personality.

^ Nah, Shandra from NWN2. Yes! How I would like to see someone like her return!
What's more, points for bringing up NWN2. That's one underappreciated jewel. Also the prime example of making the player sad and angry as fuck due to incomplete romance options Please don't include that part in DA4

A girly feminine yet strong female knight who can be romanced by both female and male protagonists. So how many gamers would be offended at such a character? Would you call her Ms fanservice? Would you consider her a boring character? Does she have boobplate? A stripperific outfit? Gratuitous butt or boob shots during dialogue? Or is her armor sensible? Does she dress like anyone else of her station? What's her backstory? Is it interesting? Does she have daddy issues? Does it tie in to the main story in any way? Does she have one or more personal quests? Is it a fetch quest or something more in-depth? How are her conversations? Does she have a lot to say about the storyline? Is there a particular topic she's focused on? If so, what is it? How well can we get to know her? What's her banter like with other characters? Is she opinionated? Conceited? Kind? Machiavellian? Altruistic? What's her personality like? Which other characters does she like or not like? What's her romance like? Gratuitous nudity? A lot of talking? Are there "date scenes"? Does she show signs of affection outside the romance? How short or long is the romance subplot? Does she get jealous if you try to romance someone else? Oh no, for God's sake, no more of that, please !!!

As much as one or two quadrant of the fanbase might love it(I being one of them), I don't see it happening as this kinda character would probably be considered too backwards and pandering.

lol I thought people would call her Miranda in Dragon Age! How about in addition to that a girly Eleven archer? Would gamers call Bioware sexist if they did that? No I wouldn't say that I sometimes RP my female protags as girly and was thinking abouttaking that approach to my next quizzy in fact once I start my next DAI run.

The issue with this is that any "archetype" is by itself terribly generic because that's the definition of an archetype. I have 0 issue with *any* archetype, in and of themselves. The question is what would they do to make her interesting? So, sure, yea, let's have her or the catty, flamboyant gay dude or the silent brooding, dark male warrior or whatever so long as that's not *all* they are.

We've had girly characters before. Case in point, Leliana who was not only girly but could also be an archer depending on how players distributed her skills.

It's not about girly, it's about that you could chop Sera's head then revive her and chop her head again and still feel unsatisfied, doesn't matter how many times you do it, you would still feel unsatisfied.

I'm perfectly okay with beautiful female characters. In fact, video games are supposed to be beautiful, it's a sign of graphical quality.
Of course, beauty shouldn't be the only thing about the character. I'm okay with a feminine knight who can be romanced by either men or women (note that it's not the same thing as bisexuality), but there must be more to her character than that. She needs a rich, developed back story, interests that bring out aspects of her personality, and ability to play off the other characters.
