I’ve left (for now) the familiar confines of Firebase Sandstorm to solo Platinum on other maps in Andromeda. Here’s the Human Guardian defending the eezo mining facility at Firebase Zero. This is a much smaller map than Sandstorm, which made for an overall quicker run. On the other hand, the Devices objective was considerably more difficult. Objectives: Boss / Devices / Devices Gameplay Notes and Build: goo.gl/pR7SuH- Backlash: 4A 5B
- Shield Boost: 4B 5A 6B
- Warp: 3 points
- APEX Training: 4A 5A 6A
- Barrier: 4A 5A 6B
- Shorty Siphon I
- Rozerad Siphon V
- Disruptor Ammo III
- Targeting VI III
- Vulnerability VI
The back of the map and the room right next to the landing zone were the two positions that I defended on Zero. The Human Guardian’s ability to blink through walls allowed him to quickly move between these two spots. Most of my attempts were actually done with the Shorty, another shotgun (Crusader, Scattershot, and Dhan), and a Shotgun Rail Amp III. In my last attempt, I switched to the Rozerad and Disruptor Ammo for a little more crowd control. I found both builds to be equally viable. ObjectivesIn one of my first attempts, I got Devices on Wave 6, but it was located in the interior room outside my starting position at the end of the alleyway. I wasn’t patient enough and blinked into a room full of enemies. Mission failed. Subsequent attempts featured Wave 6 Uploads and Hacks, which like on any map, are all but impossible for most characters. On my successful run, I had Devices on Waves 4 and 6. The first two devices were right next to each other on Wave 4, which almost spelled doom if the enemies had converged on my location a second sooner than they did. I got staggered by a Berserker’s Flak Cannon on the first device on Wave 6, and I still don’t know how I was able to get out of that crowd of enemies. Before capping the second device, I used my last Revive Kit, so the mission turned into One Life to Live. By contrast, the Boss objective on Wave 2 was much easier. I only used two Cobras, while mixing in Warp and Shorty blasts at the Behemoth. With no gels left on extraction, my stress levels were raised exponentially. Good thing that I had some First Aid Kits in reserve in case an Anointed got a bead on me. Please enjoy!

You're awesome crazy. This kit is one of the most boring for me.. you still got him running through! I will admit that the Guardian does seem boring on paper, but I think he’s one of the best solo kits in the game. Shield Boost and Backlash kept him upright. Biotic Blink gives him (and the Duelist) unparalleled movement. And Warp is great as a debuff and stunning ability (compared with Lance). Good passives for weapon damage and survivability too.

Great video! You have a good build on the Guardian. Mine has minimal Backlash (1 pt) and full Warp speed. I will try your setup, too, although I am not patient enough to use Backlash frequently unless I am in trouble. I agree that the Guardian is a great solo kit, and his survivability makes him a good team player. Biotic Blink is tricky to get right, but is very useful to get around (and get away from imminent disaster).
You are getting pretty good at this...

Zero is a smaller map, so there's less time retreating and more time fighting. Figuring out a viable strategy on these other maps does take time. Icebreaker was not a fun one to do with the Turian Havoc Trooper yesterday, and I'm glad to get that one out of the way. Even when I have a good strategy, it's not as safe as what I do on Sandstorm. On Aqua, Derelict and Vertigo, I got to Wave 5 before the tag team of Observers and Blaze Hydra got me. Haven't tried Magma yet and only did one wave on Paradox. I am not looking forward to my solo on Nimbus. The current Platinum APEX mission has the Go For the Eyes modifier on Sandstorm against the Remnant. If I have time today, I might want to cheese a Platinum solo out of that before the mission expires.
