I had planned to save the cloak characters for last in my endeavor to solo Platinum with every character, but I had gotten frustrated with several Wave 5 and 6 failures with the remaining non-stealth characters on Firebase Derelict, Paradox, and Vertigo. So, out came the Angara Avenger for a fairly straightforward solo on Firebase Nimbus against the Kett.
Most Avenger Platinum solo videos feature Sticky Grenade or sniper/Shorty gameplay. I wanted to do something different, so please enjoy this solo that’s heavy on Avenger Strike and melee!
Objectives: Devices / Devices / Devices
Gameplay notes and build: goo.gl/zH2gjB
This build was all about hit and run tactics with Avenger Strike and melee. The general gameplay was to isolate enemies, teleport and stun with Avenger Strike, and use melee to finish them off. The Angara Avenger has a 2X multiplier against armored targets, which resulted in nearly 4000 damage per melee. This made taking out Saboteurs and Berserkers pretty easy once they were isolated.
In any Platinum solo, however, these enemies are hardly alone. Within the 5 second stun duration of Disrupting Strike, my Avenger was visible and vulnerable. So, in situations where I teleported into a crowd of enemies, I would back away and chuck grenades into the group. Even though I had just one point in Sticky Grenades, I still had seven of them with the Grenade Capacity gear and Power Capacity Mod III.
This tactic still was dangerous, as evidence by my Avenger getting downed and having to use far too many First Aid Kits and Revive Packs on Wave 3. Bioelectric Defense 4A Evasion and 6A Bioelectric Ward were instrumental in keeping me alive in this match. Afterwards, I became more careful and deliberate in what I chose to Avenger Strike and melee. Isolate a single target from the rest of the pack, Avenger Strike, melee, and repeat.
The Shorty was equipped with the heavy melee mod for an extra 40% boost in melee damage. I would use it to soften up enemies before applying the finishing blow with a melee. The Rozerad was mainly used for blind fire behind cover (should have brought the newly buffed Scorpion instead) and for taking out the Ascendant Orbs from distance.
With non-stealth characters, there’s an element of danger even with the “easy” objectives of Devices and Retrieval. I had almost forgotten how the Asari Huntress and Angara Avenger trivializes these objectives. The extra 45% extra movement speed when cloaked (Stealth Grid 6A Evasive Grid and Bioelectric Defense 4A Evasion) reminded me of playing a Drell with an Adrenaline Mod III from ME3MP. All that was missing was the trench coat and the kick melee animation!
Please enjoy!
