The Human Female Soldier brings the Soned Siphon to Firebase Sandstorm in this Platinum Solo against the Kett. The Heavy Stock improved the Soned's stability (and accuracy), especially when behind cover. Tech Combos via Disruptor Ammo and Concussive Shot provided crowd control. Frag Grenades used when enemies were bunched up behind Building 37. Great objectives led to a no-revive run. Objectives: Retrieval / Devices / Retrieval Gameplay notes and build: goo.gl/sdTz4h- Turbocharge: 1 point
- Concussive Shot: 4B 5B 6B
- Frag Grenade: 4B 5A 6A
- Munitions Training: 4A 5B 6A
- Combat Fitness: 4A 5B 6A
- Soned Siphon II
- Multicapacitor
- Assault Rifle Amp IV
- Disruptor Ammo II
Prior to this attempt, I had been trying to solo with the Human Soldier on Derelict and Vertigo but was getting downed a lot on Wave 3 and 5. I don’t have a good strategy yet to kite enemies and control their spawns on those two maps. As we all know, Platinum is very unforgiving to errors; one wrong move, and it’s game over. Given enough time, I know I could do it (at least once), but I was getting tired of the constant wipes. So, it was back to the familiar and comfortable confines of Firebase Sandstorm to complete this mission. This time, however, I used the Soned Siphon instead of my usual loadout. The Soned with the Heavy Magazine and Heavy Stock combination was so heavy that I couldn’t even equip the Rozerad Siphon without going over the power recharge weight limit. It didn’t matter, since the Soned, like the P.A.W. Siphon in my Human Engineer Platinum Solo, acquitted itself quite well in the hands of the Human Soldier. I equipped the Heavy Stock instead of the usual AR Barrel mod to provide more stability and accuracy when firing in and out of cover. One point in Turbocharge was enough to get most of its benefit. With the way I was playing, I wasn’t using Frag Grenades that much, so an alternate build would have eschewed them in favor of a Rank 6 Turbocharge build. The Soned’s big clip meant I probably would have gone with 5A Damage and Force and 6A Supercharge. I had forgotten to buy a Jumbo Supply Pack before this mission, so I was down to three First Aid Kits at the start of the mission. Doh! Fortunately, I only had to use two of them, and I didn’t go down once during the match. Thank you Aerial Evasion and Hold the Line. Objectives were great, especially with Retrieval on Wave 6. So much less stress doing Retrieval than Devices when you don’t have to worry about Berserker Flak Cannons pushing you off the device. Only three more non-stealth characters, the Human Adept, Human Commando, and the Krogan Mercenary, to go along with the Human Infiltrator, Turian Agent, and Salarian Infiltrator! Please enjoy!

Nice game. (Well, TBH, I’ve only watched the first 20 minutes so far.) I find the Soned tough to use because of the spin up but you handle it well here.
The Soned is sort of emblematic of the weapon balance problems in MEA. The Rozerad is pretty much always better. (I know you know this and are cycling through characters and weapons for style and challenge, etc.)
Anyway, the Soned should be better than it is, LOL. (Not that it is awful or anything, but it should do, say, 20-25% more damage than it does, all else equal.)

Agreed that the Soned needs a buff to make it an alternative to the Rozerad. It’s so heavy that only certain characters can use it without going into recharge penalty. Needs to balance that by making it harder hitting or have something like innate piercing. Is that something they can do in a balance change? I miss that from the Blacks Widow and Crusader of ME3MP.

Sounds like you want the Typhoon back. Difference is, Typhoon was lighter, didn't physically slow you down, could actually aim to focus fire (and it was decently accurate when ramped up, particularly on accuracy boosting characters. Actually, a direct porting of the Typhoon would break MEAMP, it would be better than everything else (Only "downsides" to the Typhoon was ramp up, spare ammo, and accuracy, the latter two are fixed by half the characters in ME:A). I do, however, miss the innately penetrating weapons. Even the Blood Pack Punisher. I think at this point we have to accept that ME3Hurricane wasn't OP enough, SMGs will completely and utterly dominate any meta by this company. ARs will also suck the biggest pile of trash they can heap upon it. This is the reality we must accept, and once we do, we can be totally bored Rozerading all the things.
