With Daniel Craig filming his last film as James Bond there have been discussions surrounding who the next James Bond could be and plans to either make him black, gay, a woman or a combination of these things, while I am not totally opposed to the idea of a black James Bond as I don't think skin colour is a defining feature of the character (I can see Idris Elba working well as a suave debonair spy) however 2 things James Bond definitely is not is gay or a woman, the James Bond I know always had a penis and shagged women, sure I would be open to the idea of James Bond playing the other side of the field and doing what he has to do in order to gather the information he needs but at his core James Bond has always been a good old fashioned misogynist who isn't afraid to give a woman a pimp slap when she steps out of line! Lois Lane underwent a "race change" in 1970, in an attempt to reveal discrimination of black people. Successful or not, Marvel and DC comics have a history of addressing these issues. |

Batman (as shown in the thread) has certain depictions that by today's standards could be interpreted a certain way, though for the time period those comics come from I doubt whether or not those same connotations would hold true. Plus wasn't Batman and Catwoman getting married recently? Bond, I guess I always kinda assumed that "Bond" was more of a title than the guys name. I don't know the Bond lore well (or at all honestly), I may be completely wrong, but to me I just assumed it was a mantle that the top agent always assumed and was handed down through the decades.
