My Human Male Adept brought the X5 Ghost Siphon and N7 Valkyrie Siphon with him to Firebase Sandstorm. With the Empty Resupply mission modifier, I had plenty of spare ammo for the entire match. The two assault rifles are no replacement for top tier weapons like the Hurricane, Shorty, or Rozerad, but they got the job done. The Ghost was a decent primer and the Valkyrie was effective at siphoning back health, hitting enemies behind cover, and taking out Ascendant’s orb. Both were not as good at taking down the Behemoth, so I had to use Cobras on the Wave 4 Boss objective.
Objectives: Retrieval / Boss / Devices
Gameplay notes and build: goo.gl/tTuYMC
Weapons
I haven’t even completed the X5 Ghost weapon challenge, but here I was using it in a Platinum solo. It reminded me of a slightly more powerful Charger S pistol. Big clip and but low damage compared with top tier weapons that I’m used to using. Its accuracy improves the longer you shoot, but jumps back if I stopped firing and used a power. Berserkers were a problem with the Ghost. I found that I couldn’t damage them enough before I had to reposition. During that time, they regained most of their armor.
On the other hand, the Valkyrie was more effective at whittling their armor down before their rage would kick in. I went with the Receiver mod in order to shoot enemies behind cover, but the AR Heavy Magazine might have been a better choice.
Powers
As for powers, I went with an Exploding Singularity instead of the Expanding Singularity used in my Human Commando solo. I tried to cast it whenever there was a bunch of enemies converging in my position. I would then launch Shockwave into the group to generate as many Biotic Combos possible. Then, I would either manually detonate the Singularity or retreat and let it explode on its own. Offensive Biotics 5A Expose gave me a 20% damage buff on powers and weapons. I don’t know if going with 5B Combo Detonation would have been better, since Shockwave has a 50% combo efficiency to begin with.
Radius and Reach on Shockwave allowed me to hit enemies from distance. I went with Anti-Armor to more damage to those pesky Saboteurs and Berserkers.
I didn’t use Pull all that much, though I had fun at the end of Wave 6, using it to drop the Sharpshooters and a Destined off the map.
Objectives
This was my fifth attempt with the Human Adept. Got a Wave 2 Hack, a Wave 2 Upload and two Wave 6 Uploads before this successful run.
I got picked up by the Ascendant after dropping off the last package on Wave 2. I jumped when his bubble appeared, but I didn’t hover long enough. When I fell back to the ground, his bubble animation was just ending, and I got grabbed.
I was concerned during the Wave 4 Boss objective because I didn’t equip Incendiary Ammo to increase my damage against armor. As my weapons were not top tier, I didn’t know if I had enough DPS to take out the Behemoth. Ultimately, I used all of my Cobras to complete the objective right before the timer ran out.
Please enjoy!
