Here’s a quartet of themed Gold Solos featuring Uncommon characters and weapons. All matches done on Random / Random. After all of these tough Platinum solos, these Gold solos felt like a piece of cake. Thanks to gnperdue for suggesting these solos. Krogan Vanguard with Ruzad ShotgunThe Krogan Vanguard charged, headbutted, and unloaded his Ruzad into the Kett on Firebase Sandstorm. Objectives: Boss / Devices Build: goo.gl/RKrdtP* Charge: 4B 5A 6B * Fortify: 4A 5B 6B * Nova: 1 point * APEX Training: 4A 5B 6A * Rage: 4A 5B 6A * Ruzad Siphon X * Ruzad Concussive X * Juggernaut Shield * Strength Enhancer III * Universal Power Amp IV Man, does the Ruzad reload slowly. It hits hard, but you have to be up close to get the most out of its damage potential. Wave 3 Boss was a little hectic, but the Krogan got it done against the Behemoth (with some help from his Cobras).

Turian Soldier with Cyclone Assault RifleThe Turian Soldier brought his dual Cyclone Assault Rifles in his battle against the Kett on Firebase Icebreaker. Objectives: Devices / Retrieval Build: goo.gl/BthjyK* Fortify: 4A 5B 6B * Turbocharge: 4B 5A 6B * Frag Grenade: 1 point * Munitions Training: 4A 5B 6A * Combat Fitness: 4A 5B 6A * Cyclone Siphon X * Cyclone Concussive X * Assault Rifle Amp * Assault Rifle Amp III * Universal Power Amp IV This was my second attempt; my first was on Firebase Zero that featured a Wave 2 Upload and a Wave 6 Hack. The enemies kept rushing into the circle, and I ran out of time on Wave 6. The second match was much smoother due to easier objectives. The Cyclone is probably the best Uncommon weapon, and it was featured in Pota Pota’s Platinum Solo with the Turian Havoc Trooper. Since I was stationary most of the time, I probably should have specced into Fortify 6A Unmoving Defense and Combat Fitness 5A Defensive Positioning for an extra 100DR and 100% shield regeneration delay reduction while in cover. The Cyclone Siphon ensured that I always was near or at maximum health when I was tanking a position.

Salarian Infiltrator with Widow Sniper RifleThe Salarian Infiltrator and his Widow Sniper Rifle squared off against the Remnant on Firebase Zero. Objectives: Retrieval / Devices Build: goo.gl/x2S9Ye* Sticky Grenade: 4A 5A 6A * Tactical Cloak: 4B 5A 6B * Energy Drain: 3 ranks * Offensive Tech: 4A 5B 6A * Support Systems: 4A 5A * Widow Siphon X * Sniper Rifle Amp * Sniper Rifle Amp III * Universal Power Amp III Like the Ruzad, the Widow reloads slowly; I dearly miss reload cancelling from ME3MP. I had to hit a weak point in order to one shot an Observer, and my aim was poor in this match. Tactical Cloak made the objectives a piece of cake.

Asari Sentinel with Disciple ShotgunThe Asari Sentinel and her Disciple Shotgun faced off against Outlaws on Firebase Magma. This was the best match of the four, as it featured two tough objectives in Boss and Upload. Objectives: Boss / Upload Build: goo.gl/vNHguf* Backlash: 4A 5B * Throw: 3 points * Energy Drain: 4A 5A 6B * Offensive Biotics: 4B 5A 6B * Tech Armor: 4A 5A 6A * Disciple Siphon X * Stronghold Package * Shotgun Rail Amp II * Power Efficiency Mod III I started the match off in my newly found hidey hole on the left side of the match. After that, I started circling the map. As I’ve stated before, among the two Sentinels, I prefer the Asari over the Human because of her mobility, damage resistance when evading, and Backlash. The Disciple worked out pretty well, and I liked it better than the Ruzad. The Wave 6 Upload was a tough one, but it became easier once I got rid of the Hydra and two Berserkers (who won’t respawn). Throw was used to push the Adhis away from the circles.

When building my manifest, I found Ruzard incredibly good, it's a LOT better than the Katana, but once you get Scattershot (or a high level Disciple), the refire and reload speed just makes it bad by comparison. I never really bothered with the Widow in MEAMP, as I got the Isharay pretty early, and that was a lot faster to use (though I loved the Widow in ME3MP). As to the Sentinels, if the powers were on the same buttons, I'd agree that the Asari is better, but I struggle a lot with her due to the bindings. And with the Cyclone, I recently went through all of the ARs and honestly believe that it's better than the Soned (but I don't have any Soned variants yet, so my view may be skewed), I find it handles a lot better, making it a better choice overall. Uncommons are pretty good (compared to the URs), but some of the best guns are Rare, URs tend to be favouring a more gimmicky approach, or are "balanced" by glaring flaws. If it wasn't for the Tempest in ME3MP, I'd argue that Andromeda has better Uncommons.

Cyclone and Disciple I finished earlier, since they are good weapons. I still prefer my UR weapons over Rares, but it helps that I have Siphon variants for all of them. A Siphon Rare beats a non-Siphon UR if it’s your primary weapon.

Watching the krogan vanguard video makes me think I probably speced mine wrong on top of just being massively worse.
I went * Charge: 4A 5A 6A * Fortify: 4A 5B 6B * Nova: 4B 5A 6A * APEX Training: 1 point * Rage: 4B 5B 6A

Siphon or not, it's the best damned shotgun in the game. This may be true. It's certainly the most accurate shotgun in the game, especially if you are using Smart Choke X. You have to pay attention to the ROF, so that you don't overheat; the plus is that you don't need to manage ammunition. The Scattershot with Disruptor ammo II can drop most shields in one shot, even at a distance; another shot primes the hapless goon for a gigantic explosion if you are using a detonating character. If you spec it with the Receiver X, it can shoot through multiple enemies, priming more than one with one shot. For pure damage, it's hard to beat the PIranha or Shorty, but they are not particularly accurate, and I will probably never see the Siphon variant. TL;DR The Scattershot X Siphon is pretty damned good!

It’s more of a melee build than a weapons or powers build (given no additional points in Apex Training). Because you went with Shock Trooper, you’ll have to keep charging to stay alive. I could see speccing into Charge 6B would give you back the DR that you lost by going with Rage 4B and 5B.

Edit: Two Scattershots used to give you a -9% (at least, they did on Juggs) power recharge malus but since the last rebalance it's 0...
