Surprise, surprise. HBO plans on doing prequels for GoT according to this article. Not gonna complain honestly, but hopefully they don't milk the living shit of a dead horse because they're planning up to five spinoffs. If done right could be pretty cool. Also, they say the series are gonna have bigger budget than the original. Cool, so long as they don't spend it all on pure CGI bullshit and shorten a season by 3 episodes and ends up being utter shit anyways because the writing was garbage. But as I've said, cool news.

I'd hope that it's good but to be honest I'm already thinking that they're gonna be milking it soon as I hear that they have five spin-offs planned. I would say it almost sounds like they want to play catch up with Netflix but Game of Thrones is the only highly marketable show that they've actually managed to get, so they're just going all in on that in the hopes that it keeps people hooked.
In either case, as long as they continue to make brain dead business decisions in Canada I wont be paying for HBO anyway.

Will there be more or less wieners in the prequels? I want to really discuss this at great lengths.

5 Spinoffs is quite the number, wonder what are they doing. Robert's rebellion is obvious, people asked for it as soon as the idea of a spinoff got in everyone's head, pretty much after season 1. The rise of the Valyrian empire could be another. The first men and the children another. Also, there's the fact that the map of GoT is apparently huge, just look at this pic I got: Not sure if this is legit or not (got it from a wallpaper site), but it sure seems so.

Will there be more or less wieners in the prequels? I want to really discuss this at great lengths. Yes, indeed. And how many bare breasts? I need to know if this series will achieve the Golden Ratio of wang/knockers. I am a simple man, but I understand ratios. Wangs typically hang solo, while knockers generally run in pairs. This is a 1:2 ratio by nature. Some people want more dong, some none at all, and some don't care either way too much as long as they can see butts and boobies. I do not claim to know the Golden Ratio, and I do not want a golden shower so I'll probably never be blessed by the Piss Fairy with that essential knowledge. Such is this life.

No Dunk and Egg. Can't say I'm interested. I honestly thought it was about a Dunk and Egg adaptation when I saw the thread's title. It seemed like the perfect prequel to adapt. Each book in the series also concludes its own story so it wouldn't matter so much that George R. R. Martin has decided to hold off on writing more for the time being. I'm kind of disappointed to be honest.

This has been known for sometime. Could be good. Haha! Roberts Rebellion is definitely something I think everyone would like to know more about. I didn't particularly care for the actors of young Ned, etc, in the main series. So it seems weird to me that they're not going to do that. It's not like GOT is going to cover everything that happened during that time period. But if they're not going to do that then what? Forresters? I'd be fine with that.

Now if this makes book fans shut up with their ''but it was tooootally different and better in the books'' then they have my big fat approval. i didnt watch the last two series (no access to sky tv) but the first 6 series deviated a lot from the books, there was no way they could make the series match the books though (not and make any sense) so i wasn't upset about that so much in the later series, however the first series skipped too much imho and it mixed up timelines that actually needed to be told for some of the later stuff to make any sense... hell i liked the tv series a lot, in much the same way as i liked Spartacus, and i can see how some of the spinoffs could work, the problem is they probably should have made most of them in conjunction wiht the primary show (and i should probably mention that i had read the first few books several years before i heard about the tv show) another set of books i really wanted to see made into films (in the historical fantasy subset) were his mortal instruments i know they made the golden compass (well half of it was filmed, then they lost funding and finished at the midway through the book stage, released a beta version of the video game and collapsed unable to do anything else wiht huge debts....) but what they made was fantastic and should have been seen through especially as the movie made book sales sky rocket .... but hey books to screen is never perfect, they add some stuff they skip some stuff they change some stuff (just look at james bond movies) it still tends to work well

Meh. Can't say I want more Game of Thrones at this point. Mostly I just want it to finish.
Whatever new show comes out will be judged on its own merits/my whims at the time.

I feel that every season since 4 has had a big drop-off in quality. I found the last two seasons to be barely watchable.
I'm pretty sure I'll be getting off the GoT train before any prequels show up.

Not sure if I'd watch a GOT related spin-off if it doesn't have Cersei. She's the prime draw of the franchise for me.

Yeah, agree. After Season 3 to mid Season 4 the show went downhill. Not sure if I say this because I've read the books or because it truly was being poorly written. One thing I think we can all agree on, last season was utter trash.

Tho that just might be me, but If I do see anymore of them, I wouldn't be watching because fuck them. I did however, want to see Robert though (I'm on his side on this one, considering Rhaegar just stole and MARRIED his fiancée right underneath his nose...)

That's what happens when you steal someone's bethronal... but the Targaryen's have a history of doing that to the Baratheon's though. It's not the first time they have slighted the Baratheon's with marriages (like Prince Duncan was proposed to marry a Baratheon bride, but refused because he didn't want to dispose of his wife, the Lady Jenny of Oldstone and so they caused a war over that). It's like they never learned lessons over it.
