Heyas, curious about your experiences with this game.
I fired it up on steam and am just rereading reddits and watching vids to get myself back into it. Thought I'd plop this down here and see what you all think/remember of it. Empire plans, influence, etc; there's a lot I forget about it. Any tips or tricks you can think back on?
First time I played it I went through as the Vaulters very easily, if a bit boring. Second time was the Necrophages which was significantly more interesting. I appreciated the huge difference in play-style between the two. This time round I'm considering Drakken but I'm not 100% sold on em yet...

It took like 3 tries to get into it. It finally clicked when I picked the strange cult guys. They play totally different with their only 1 city/region mechanic. Worth a try - it made me appreciate the game. Beside the music score, that is.

I actually thought Necrophages were fairly easy to play. Just spam troops and rush everyone else. Lots of drones and an infestor is the way to go: the former are crazy powerful, while the latter will constantly spawn battlelings that will give you a numerical and monetary advantage over time, since you can sell extra ones for a pretty good price.
I’m a big fan of the Broken Lords, and the Allayi and Morgawr from the expansions are also really cool. I would piggyback on the Cultist praise as well. The asymmetrical factions are easily the selling point of this game, and what makes it stand out among a whole ocean of 4X titles.

So another 4x game?. Ok... on to the next game. I don't play 4x anymore...not since the last 4x I played went to 2000+ turns!

Worth a try - it made me appreciate the game. Beside the music score, that is. I can empathize with 3 tries. I behave a bit differently, I go into an "absorb" period for a bit (usually 1-4 days) where I'm not even really playing, just reading about it. It being any 4x, strategy or complex RPG I am getting into. I've tried about 5 times to finish DA:O over the years. Still haven't finished it. In my original playthroughs I sidelined the Cultists. Now I'm considering em. I didn't view obtaining Minor Faction units as a priority to fill gaps in your unit cohesion. I decided to stick with the Drakken for a bit to get back into the basics of the game. Next up is probably Ardent Mages/Broken Lords/Morgawr/Cultists. Just have to pick one. >.> <.< I actually thought Necrophages were fairly easy to play. Just spam troops and rush everyone else. The asymmetrical factions are easily the selling point of this game, and what makes it stand out among a whole ocean of 4X titles. Necrophages were certainly easy, wildly different from my original race of Vaulters. I played with Infestors and selling but by the point I got to em I was pretty much set up with a few Drone Swarms /win. Was on a middling difficulty though. An early victory against one of the AI and I seemed to snowball after that. Why Broken Lords and Morgawr? I think I understand the rudiment principle of Allayi (Use your seasons, get Cold Operator and Winter = Win?) but I have next to no clue about the Broken Lords and even less of the Morgawr. *** Anyone dabble in mods?

Why Broken Lords and Morgawr? I think I understand the rudiment principle of Allayi (Use your seasons, get Cold Operator and Winter = Win?) but I have next to no clue about the Broken Lords and even less of the Morgawr. The unique thing about the Allayi is more that that they are pretty much forced to play tall and rely on exploration a lot. I wouldn't say they are that much stronger in winter, except insofar as they get advantages when gathering pearls. They and the Cultists are the way to go if you're getting tired of micromanaging a couple dozen cities. The Broken Lords are all about having tons of Dust and more or less buying your way to victory, so fairly straightforward. The Morgawr are trickier because they suck on land, but in a map with more than a little water they excel at controlling the oceans and coastlines. So you want to focus on ruling the seas and use minor factions to survive elsewhere. And other than the Drakken forced peace and forced alliance abilities, nothing in the game can troll the competition quite as hard as the Black Spot.

Surprise announcement! Even now new content is being made. I did not expect that at all ... Looking forward to it though We did have an 'super' winter, so a 'super' summer now?

Nyralim This is awesome! EL interests me more than ES, and it's good to know they haven't dropped it after all. I'll be definitely keeping an eye out for this.

The last expansion of the Endless Legend series after its release in 2014.
The series (along with Endless Space) has some very creative faction ideas and 'alien' lifeforms imo. Along with fun game mechanics.
