Here’s a Powers Only Platinum Solo with the Krogan Engineer on Firebase Sandstorm against the Kett. She didn’t need to use her Predator X nor her Cobra RPGs; Overload, Incinerate, and her Flamethrower Assault Turret were all she needed to complete the mission.
Objectives: Retrieval / Devices / Devices
- Wave 1: 0:01:07
- Wave 2 Retrieval: 0:04:52
- Wave 3: 0:21:04
- Wave 4 Devices: 0:33:27
- Wave 5: 0:49:33
- Wave 6 Devices: 1:06:08
- Wave 7: 1:18:23
Build: goo.gl/AnZcAZ
- Overload: 1 point
- Assault Turret: 4B 5B 6B
- Incinerate: 4B 5B 6A
- Offensive Tech: 4B 5B 6A
- Rage: 4A 5A 6A
- Predator X
- Multicapacitor
- Cyclonic Mod IV
- Power Efficiency Mod IV
Outside of the grenade classes, I think the Krogan Engineer is the best kit for doing a powers only solo. As I showed in my Powers Only Gold Solo, she can effectively strip shields and handle armor with just her abilities. I wrote at the time that a Platinum solo with her is doable, but that it would take a long time.
Indeed, this was a long and tough solo. By choosing not to use my weapons, I had to focus on Tech Combos with Overload followed by Incinerate to strip shields and Fire Combos with Overload detonating enemies on fire from Incinerate or the Flamethrower Assault Turret. One problem is that Overload’s time window for a Tech Combo is only 2.5 seconds long. Incinerate has a travel time so there were instances where I wasn’t able to pull off a combo in time. Near the end of the match, I also tried launching Incinerate first; before it hit an enemy, I would cast Overload for a Tech Combo (similar to the Throw / Energy Drain combo with the Asari or Human Sentinel).
Assault Turret 5B Omni-Tool and a Power Efficiency Mod IV reduced my Overload and Incinerate cooldowns to 5.9 and 5.5 seconds respectively. This synergized well with the four second cooldown on combos. I could have lowered my cooldown even further with either Omni-Capacitors or Structural Ergonomics, but I equipped the Multicapacitor for better survivability. No Siphon meant I could only regenerate my health via Rage.
Assault Turret was specced for recharge and Flamethrower for extra DPS and drawing enemy aggro.
End of Waves took a long time because of those Ascendants and their regenerating Orbs. If I liked playing Outlaws more, I think this would have been a better (and faster) faction to fight against. But, I hate Adhis and Observers, so Kett it was again.
On Wave 5, I focused on eliminating the Blaze Hydra with Incinerate and Fire Combos. You have to take down three of them to deplete them from the Wave budget. They go down relatively quickly when you spec into Incinerate 4B Burning Duration.
Got good objectives, though I do wish I had gotten Retrieval on Wave 6. That last device on the rooftop almost resulted in a mission failed! Boss would have been an interesting objective to see if I could get it done only with powers. I think I would have had to break out the Cobras for that one.
Please enjoy!
