This is true, but (before he locked down his account) he put out in his profile who he worked for and such. Which is kinda like wearing a Bioware shirt... That's fair, as another situation in my head would be if one of the devs had posted that on the old Prime forums using their dev/employee avatar. It's a blurry line, where does "representing your employer" divide? (Honest question and I'm not sure I have the answer.) A good rule of thumb should be "don't post anything publicly you don't want your boss to see" Just to be on the safe side.

ok, the guy hasn't updated his LinkedIn so he still says he works for BioWare. He may also not have updated his Twitter bio until recently doing so. Casey is right to say he's not at BioWare (Montreal office closure) but I have a suspicion he's still under EA. Whilst companies are able to can people for 'bringing the company into disrepute' I'm probably still not convinced someone should lose their job for being a total idiot online, but that will be for EA to determine. I'm sure many of us have said things on the internet they wish they could walk back, I certainly would. From the moment he posted that, my first thought was... his days at EA are numbered. Because I knew the backlash wouldn't just be towards him. BioWare and EA would inevitably be swept up in it too (and they have).
It hasn't made news on the bigger gaming sites yet, but you can it snowballing, and I think it's only a matter of time. After that...
Did none of his co-workers or friends try to intervene the moment they saw those tweets...?
Does an apparently intelligent adult really need friend's and co-workers to tell them how to act like a decent human being? BTW credit to Casey Hudson for his quick response and disavowal of this odious individual.

I believe there may have been another Bioware employee who did defend his tweets but I can't find them again, to be honest do you really think the bigger gaming sites will really report on it though? I mean I am pretty sure they have an axe to grind with Total Biscuit as well and probably silently endorse what Crooks was saying. We'll have to wait and see. The way I see it - in the end, however they may feel personally, it's snowballing to the point where it's becoming "news". And "news" means clicks. This is a hot topic that's come up before, and I remember (a bit vaguely) Mike Laidlaw and another dev discussing this. That even though you don't represent your company with your personal Twitter (or other social media), and it's in no way your intention to represent you company with your personal opinion, the reality is... you have to treat it like you do represent your company. Because whatever your intention, people will not distinguish between the two. That just the reality of SM.

I said this on another site, and it bears repeating. How dark does your soul have to be, in order to celebrate one of your critics dying to cancer?

Nothing to that degree. I recognize that anything I put out there is for everyone to see. Now I have to wonder how many other people with such hate in their hearts work for Bioware, and what kind of culture are they building there? It seems silly to worry about this without more evidence. Past a couple hundred people the chances of having a few douchebags someplace in the organization gets very high unless character is your primary hiring factor. That isn't a terrible way to run staffing for some businesses, but I'm not sure it's a great fit with game development

The other Bioware employee hinted at in the above who endorsed this is the Anthem lead animator Mike Jungbluth (twitter link)Sure nobody's above criticism but there's a time and a place for that and it's not now. The man's not even had his funeral and people are already reveling in his death. Even if you have no respect for the man show some to his family.
Are we really at a point were people are saying that individuals they don't like or approve of because of their statements and opinion's deserve to die and that this should be celebrated?

That said I am not particularly fond of getting people fired for what they do outside the workplace, I know if the shoe was on the other foot these types of people would have no problem getting somebody else fired from their job however it is a fairly rotten thing to do and we don't really need to stoop to their level. Here's the link for the other Bioware guy twitter link

Also who the fuck is David Crooks and which 2 games is he referring to? The only 2 games I know he worked on were Andromeda and Battlefront 2 (as per his twitter bio) and lets be honest here I am pretty sure both of those games deserved most of (if not all) the critisism they got. On the archive thingy, it said David Crooks worked on Mass Effect 3 DLC(programmer) and TB put out a pretty big video on day 1 DLC that was pretty much 90% him shitting on BioWare/EA for pulling that From Ashes nonsense.

Its not enough to shut down an entire forum because you simply cannot take criticism, no, you also have to celebrate the actual death of the critics. Yeah, Bioware. So one tweet from an employee is all of them now?

Back to TotalBiscuit, I found this an interesting video. Admittedly I never paid much attention to TotalBiscuit's content beyond the occasional "WTF is... video," and those Port Reports he did, but much respect to him for just keeping on carrying on even in the face of having stage IV cancer and dealing with chemo and all that bullshit. I admire him for running his business, releasing content, attending cons and such in all those years he dealt with his illness. Top class act, really. RIP. 33 is way too goddamn young, though. Seriously, fuck cancer.

Its not enough to shut down an entire forum because you simply cannot take criticism, no, you also have to celebrate the actual death of the critics. Yeah, Bioware. So one tweet from an employee is all of them now? And not even a current employee. What I don't get about this whole tempest in a teapot is why being an ass is assumed to equate with being bad at your job. Only people who behave in socially approved ways should have jobs, now, regardless of qualifications or performance? Should he publish an apology? Yeah, because it was cruel. Should people who have no idea what he does or for whom be calling for him to get fired or holding his current and former employers responsible for making him an ass or allowing him to interact with the public in his personal life? Hell, no.

Back to TotalBiscuit, I found this an interesting video. Getting to the part where he said he had to force feed himself when he didn't feel like eating was a facepalm moment. Your body is telling you not to eat for a reason because it needs it's energy on healing you and not wasting on the energy intensive digestive process. We're in the age of information overload, no excuse not to start investigating things for yourself instead of trusting the authority for every word when it's clearly a racket (a cancer patient can be worth almost one million dollars, that as good a motive as it gets. Among many other things against on the healthcare system alone). Can recall once getting food poisoned by eating meat that wasn't cooked enough, bedridden in a sweaty fever for 3 days straight with only enough head spinning energy for the loo, feeding the cat and drinks of water. The rest was spent sleeping in a sweaty fever mess and after 3 days was good as new. And sure we're talking cancer here, there's more to it, but this is just a tip to start you down the never ending rabbit hole. Because the truth is stranger then fiction and if you're just starting with investigating truth, everything sounds nuts to you. Everything is a lie, literally, and not very hard to prove once you gain some momentum figuring it out. For cancer treatment, start with List of unproven and disproven cancer treatments on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is basically mainstream information now, and what the mainstream are vehemently against is very worthy of further research.
