Man Bethesda was very self-congratulatory tonight.
I liked what I saw with Fallout 76, will be interesting to see how it plays. Otherwise nothing else really caught my eye. I enjoyed the humor though throughout.
Also. #FuckNazis

Bethesda started with good grip... but they just loose it at the end, if not for the Starfield and TES VI teasers... I don't know. Anyone saw the faces on the crowd? Todd did an amazing job, the jokes about Skyrim, really nice they acknowledge the jokes. But they just didn't have enough stuff... Mobile TES? more ESO DLC? People were waiting for heavy hitters, and besides F76, nothing more really, Rage was announced already so that doesn't count, Quake? come on. It was up and down... and ended up being a bit lackluster imo.
I'm super disappointed about no F3 remaster, they said it on stage! 10 years anniversary! come on guys!

I'm super disappointed about no F3 remaster, they said it on stage! 10 years anniversary! come on guys! Do we really need a Fallout 3 remaster? I mean I don't think it has really aged all that well and remastering it would probably only make the flaws all that more apparent when comparing it to current games, besides if you really want to play Fallout 3 again what is wrong with just booting up whatever version you have of it now? It is not as if you can't run the old version on current computers or anything.

Day 1 (confirmed pre-E3, EA) my favorites were:
-Tetris Effect -Pokemon Lets Go -Anthem (hey, I like it, I'm just not interested in it) -Sea of Solitude -Star Wars: Fallen Order (well, I like the ideas it conjures!)
~~~~
Day 2 (Microsoft, Bethesda - not counting what I think future days will ocover) my reactions are:
Microsoft -Halo 'Infinite': sounds like 'Halo 6 but shaking off Halo 5 as well as potentially wanting to be a longer term MP platform'? No? -Ori and Will of the Wisps: need to play first one -Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: not my style -The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit: Okay, is this just LIS style, or stealth LIS2? Ack. -Crackdown 3: whatever... -Metro: Exodus: need to play first two, but intriguing! -Forza Horizon 4: Crew 3? lol idc -We Happy Few: release already! -Division 2: neato, not my thing but go enjoy it. -Shadow of the Tomb Raider: beautiful.. another case of having to go through my first two games though. -Session: skateboarding is back? -Devil May Cry 5: so what, is this sequel of DMC4 but with 'DMC' (reboot) sensibilities added? As it should have been in the first place? Haha. -Tunic: don't care. -Jump Force: a big LOL. Not my thing, but I absolutely love that this is happening. -Dying Light 2: don't care (much), interesting game design ideas explained though. -Battletoads: k. -Just Cause 4: k. -Gears.. Pop!: go away. -Gears Tactics: come here! -Gears of War 5: a little bland, but the thing is, I don't really know the Gears series, so I'll leave this to fans to decide. -Cyberpunk 2077: LUV. A little concerned if its just a single 'defined' male protagonist though. Not that I'm against it, but because I think the setting offers much more and CDPR might do well to more directly out-Bioware Bioware (I'd laugh).
Bethesda: -Rage 2: its going to take a mindblowing Rage 2 to get me caring about anything Rage, but good luck. -Doom Eternal: not my thing, but my boyfriend will hopefully love it. -Prey: Mooncrash DLC: still taking my time getting to Prey. -Wolfenstein: Young Blood: ... still taking my time getting to Wolfenstein. -Fallout 76: ugh... this is difficult. I like and appreciate what they're setting up here, but it also doesn't speak much to me at all. If they show that significant story questing can also occur (even if without the environment RP malleability a pure SP Fallout would have), then I'm excited. As it is, I'm only interested in how it plays out. -Elder Scrolls Blades: I'm... going to deliberately not be as cynical as others about this, but I'll just say that I'm happy Bethesda is finding ways to find their more important projects. -Starfield: want, but it won't come until at least 2019, so whatever. (so not counting in 'favorites') -Elder Scrolls VI: want, but who knows when it is coming, so whatever. (so not counting in 'favorites')
My favorites today: -Shadow of the Tomb Raider -Gears Tactics -Cyberpunk 2077 -Fallout 76
Sometimes I don't include a game just because I'm certain that I'll never play it, or because its in a line of games that I really want to play the earlier ones first, dampening my enthusiasm for the new one for the time being. Sometimes a game breaks that mental barrier, as Tomb Raider just did.
Here's the thing, game is 10 years old, people want a remaster, it's not me and 3 other people, it's a LOT of people. You may disagree, though. Everyone is entitled to their opinions obviously. In any case, it's irrelevant at this point. We're not getting a remaster.
and Devolver Digital is done.
We went from masturbatory with Bethesda to painfully unfunny and smug.
I kind of liked the smugness they did though to the industry. Needs more of that honesty without the bad jokes. Sadly they didn't show much in the way of games unless you all like Metal Wolf Chaos, My Friend Pedro or SCUM.
Mobile TES is not my enemy, FO76 might be a cool thing, I'm happy that games are getting more modes and content, surprised Rage is a thing, all that stuff. But all of this together still didn't scream 'separate event'.
Bit surprised they announced Starfield and TESVI this year as well, thought they would keep it all about Fallout 76 this year.
I suppose I get the teaser for Starfield as even though it did not show much it at least let everyone know that yes Starfield is a thing and it is being developed by Bethesda Game Studios, however the TESVI reveal? Felt kind of pointless, I mean yeah we already know Elder Scrolls 6 is going to get released eventually however unless the game is set in High Rock there really isn't much to tell us what to expect about the new game other than it features a coastal region somewhat reminiscent of the British isles.
If it wasn't for the confirming teasers at the end, this would be my least or almost least favorite Bethesda E3 ever. I've got the feeling the 2 teasers were their life savers in case things went a bit south (like it did), and that they perhaps didn't quite want to show them. They have nothing to show on TESVI, that's a given. And Starfield clearly wasn't supposed to release this year, and they are not super keen on showing games they don't plan to release within the year.
...And water is wet? Seems a bit random. Did I miss anything? It was a big virtue signal from the Wolfenstein devs. Anyway, so far the only things that have really caught my eye are Metro Exodus, Cyberpunk, Starfield, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I love Metro's atmosphere, I trust CDPR to do a great job with Cyberpunk even though it's not my preferred setting. Starfield is more my speed but it's still years away. I'm a massive Fromsoft slut, so even though the whole feudal Japan thing is getting stale, I'm still very excited for the game.
If this hypothetical remaster were to get made what exactly would you want from it?
I want reasonable (no too ambitious) and cheap FO1-2 remakes before much else, really. Have there been no modders who have tried to attempt a remake of the original Fallout games in the creation kit? I mean with remakes of the Baldur's Gate series in Neverwinter Nights and people trying to recreate all of Morrowind in Skyrim I am surprised there has nobody who has tried to attempt this?
If this hypothetical remaster were to get made what exactly would you want from it? F3 is the most unstable Bethesda game (and that is saying), with the hardware we had back then, game would crash every 2 hours, with the hardware of today game crashes every hour, so it gets progressively worse. It's a 10 year old game, I would pay for a "Fallout 4 in Fallout 3" type of remaster. That's the point of a remaster. As I've said, you may not agree. Also, why exactly Bethesda fans are not intelligent? what did I miss? All fanbase is about the same, there're groups of hypers, groups of haters, groups of rational thinking people, etc.
Todd's script was pretty funny, at least, even though the conference itself was a bit weak. I hope the people who wrote it get raises.
It was one of the few times during their conference that I actually laughed. That and the Skyrim parody. Yeah I didn't really see the actual thing, sticking to watching trailers without the fluff so far. I must say, I wasn't expecting to see so many interesting titles. Bethesda had some interesting stuff but a lot of it was pretty much DLC and 2nd games up the wazoo. Fallout 76 looked pretty good I have to say, Rage 2 seemed to play similar to Doom but I was not a fan of the inconsistent tone they had for it. Will see how it plays when its out though before I judge. I was rolling my eyes at people giving a standing ovation to a 20 second bumper trailer for Elder Scrolls VI though...
