Just curious. I've seen a lot of polls about favorite romances but none categorized this way. Choose however many you like (if you exclusively play as, for instance, straight women then choose appropriately). I'm separating hetero romances into two categories:
M/F (male PC -> female LI)
F/M (female PC -> male LI)
Only included LIs with romance tiles so no Harding, Tallis, Anora, etc.

My favorites are female warden and Alistair, male warden and Zevran, either Hawke and Anders, and female Inky and Cullen. Everybody would go for Nathaniel if he was romanceable.

M/Fenris has always been a favorite of mine. F/Leliana is more recent but it's also rated pretty high now since Leliana is adorable. I haven't played any Inquisition ones personally so I won't judge those.

 Alistair is still winning at "wives" so many years later. F/M Alistair F/M Zevran F/M Fenris F/M Cullen What's not on the list is my head cannon of F/F Cousland/Isabella  .... That relationship is hawt hawt hawt, #2 fantasy after Hawke/Fenris. Cullen/Meredith is also kinda hot, but I seem to be the only one that ever thinks about that.

It's better because I am playing a gay male character as a gay man. That is an extremely rare and awesome experience to be able to have when it's an option. |

I am a bi female, but some of my favorite playthroughs have been as gay men or straight women. It depends on the character as an individual, for me. |

Also not a fan of stats as they can be very misleading-but I do think the only time it was stated there were more females was when they were refering to fans that showed up at the E3/comic con type events. The player stats that we've seen still say the majority of fans are male (or at least play as male)-that being said the numbers are very high for female characters being used-much higher than say mass Effect. So that's probably why female characters are getting much better representation here than in most game series.   |

I prefer both Zevran/Warden and Fenris/Hawke as m/m. With my other favourite options (Alistair, Sebastian, Blackwall and Sera) there isn't a choice of protagonist gender involved.

I don't romance anyone in DAO. Fenris for both genders. Male Inquisitor/Dorian. I've done Fenris romance as male, haven't actually done the whole thing as female. I don't see the difference between the two? why do you think Male is better in this case? There isn't one in Fenris's case. Except for a single line, the flavor of the romance is the same. This would just be about personal preference of PC gender. However, the difference is more marked for m/m Anders, and I do believe that version is "better" (only my opinion, of course). I don't care about the sex of my protagonist, so I voted both options for Leliana, Merrill, and Josephine. For the sake of the poll, which might you play more often? Or perhaps, which gender combo would you consider your canon? There are ways to narrow things down, even if it seems you don't have a preference. |
