Red Dead Online 'combines multiplayer and cooperative gameplay and narrative components in a huge open world. Players will be able explore alone or easily join with friends or other players to compete or work together.'uk.ign.com/articles/2018/09/19/red-dead-online-devs-reveal-first-detailsA real push for this kind of content, which sounds similar to Anthem's mechanics in some regard. Should we expect many more games of this kind?

Warframe has them as well. Since I had no expectations with W, it is what it is and I play it with neutral anticipations.RD seems similar to Anthem and W, combat mechanics, aside. Was it Mark Darrah that said AAA games are/becoming homogeneous?
RD's story elements are different from Anthem, the way Bio insists on telling us. Theirs is " a new way" which implies RD is the "old way". Thus an apple-apple comparison is not applicable
I say good luck to both..

Should we expect many more games of this kind? Well, there is a competitive element in RDO as well. Anyway there are a bunch of games out there that have similar Components but from what I've seen Anthem will give us a unique take on the co-op ARPG. Right now I'm digging into The Division and Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Both are great. Ghost recon may be more of a shooter but the solo mode is party based.

Sure does,; however, I would argue the difference is that RDR2's single player can be enjoyed years after the servers are taken offline.
Not so with Anthem which requires a constant connection which I find strongly dislike.

Also what's with these artifacts in posts? No idea why it happens, but it seems that the forum randomly adds "div" tags to quotes. You can get rid of them by going into BBCode editor and removing said tags. Trying to quote the same post you did, this appears: If you remove the highlighted part, you remove the weirdness. Edit: searching a bit on the issue, it seems that div tags are related to text alignment, and it converts similar alignment tags to div tags, so I'm guessing the artifacts are a bug with that conversion.

Calling a player base seems toxic to me. It’s not like other fanbases are much different. I apologize. I got carried away by undue generalization. I'm sure the P2W fest is absolutely fine and the player to player interaction it breeds is just good-humoured banter.

I like the way it's being done. Two separate games as it should be. They aren't trying to shoehorn one mode into another.

The difference is that Red Dead as a dedicated single player campaign on top of it, and not the focus, so i'm happy.
