Tom Brady looks funny in this role. The CG-to-Live Action transition looked a little jarring to me. Either should put a filter on the Live Action, or.... Invest a shit-ton more money in digitizing. The premise is interesting, I like the idea of the game happening in one night... PS exclusive? Fuck you Sony. Oh, it's going to be on Steam too Fuck you Sony, but thanks!

I think this is the main reason the game is so short in play-time, it's an experiment. I'd go further, though, and say that showing the protagonist in both live action and CGI was a mistake. They should have had the gameplay be first-person, or at least never show his face in third-person, and the live action be third-person. Then at least one character is excluded from the jarring transitions. Couldn't do the same with the damsel in distress, though it might be possible to never show a CGI version of her, only live action. Having the villain be in a mask is obviously another way to avoid the jarring transition.

Dragon's Lair was just a pattern game, remember the pattern and win. The gameplay was overly simple because the focus of the game was new tech I guess. This is a very interesting title, to be sure. Thank you for sharing it, I will be curious how it works out.

Totally agree, it just confused me for a second and I ended up paying more attention to the CGI than the trailer. All of one, or all of the other. If you're going to mix them then be creative to gloss over the awkwardness. Still excited for the game though. Dr Dekker was pretty great, so I'm slowly getting into the FMV thing.

I was intrigued by the game until I found out it was a Sony exclusive. That being said I’ll probably just YouTube it when it comes out.

What is FMV? Wooo! Seems to be applied to anything with real life footage in it. A few years ago it was a retro eighties/nineties thing that was naff, but Her story, Dr. Dekker and Contradiction have brought it back into style.

Didn't Quantum Break already do a very similar thing with it's live action episodes between the game chapters?
Anyway, I kinda like the concept. Curious to see what will become of it.

I never played QB so I had to look it up. Superficially it does mix live action FMV with gameplay, but if I’m reading right, they are linked for cause/effect choices, but with different characters and POV. It’s like there’s this crossover tv series whose plot is controlled by choices in the game. But a big difference is that the character you play in the game doesn’t also perform in the live action? As appears to be true in TQM. I’m not 100% sure of that though.

Well, Jack Joyce, the protagonist of the game part does also show up as one of the main characters in the live action episodes that run between the chapters. It is true that we don't always see the episodes from his angle (not sure if that'll be the case in TQM) but he is there for sure. BTW, I can recommend this game (at least the steam release as it was bug free for me). If you like very narrative heavy games (and time travel plots) you might like that one and you can get it for under 10 bucks in sales these days.

It’s definitely a modern FMV in the same sense that it’s a terrible.

Basically a non playable version of The Bouncer without the awesomeness of Dauragon "less clothes = more badass" C. Mikado.

It got even featured in a major news outlet here. Something along pretentious shit. Well, if you throw the even most basic methods of storytelling over board no excuse of experimentalism is gonna save a heap of untold story that someone thought would be nice to tell. Or not.
