Such games are truly becoming endangered species… Nice to meet another Eder fan. I've been playing Pillars of Eternity 2 and enjoying it quite a lot. Anyway, I think the game will be co-op, which is fine by me. As long as you can still enjoy the game as a single-player game, there should be no problems with the fanbase. As for me, I'm quite interested in this game based off of everything that I've heard. Of course, we still have yet to receive more information from Bethesda, but if the game at least has some online capabilities, I'll probably enjoy it. Anyway, I guess all we can do now is wait.

Such games are truly becoming endangered species... Is it really, though? I mean, one of the most successful games this year was God of War, which is solely a single-player game. I think that while a lot of publishers are definitely looking for a "game as service" that they can get continuous money out of, I don't think the amount of single player games is really going down in any way significantly.

Me personally, I'm fine with the state of gaming in 2018 and I'm honestly fine with the amount of online games, such as Fortnite. Even so, I've so far played a lot of single-player games even now. Off the top of my head, I can't say that this decade has been particularly bad towards single-player games. I think that what happened is that battle-royale games and games with online capabilities have become more and more common. That doesn't necessarily mean that the single-player games aren't there.

So apparently there are some persistent rumors that Bethesda is going to cut off mods outside of their "Creation Club" (AKA paid mods, and the birthplace of various new reincarnations of the infamous horse armor DLC). The excuse they will use (supposedly) is security concerns, and "adult" mods (" won't someone think of the pure innocent children?"). The only thing I will say is that if they restrict mods in that way, I will have zero interest in buying any further FO / TES titles. Same here. Beth makes good games, but mod'ing make them great. I think its pretty clear that the Creation Club's intent is to do exactly that. Whether they can do it well enough to actually pull it off without destroying their brand, well the proof so far isn't looking good for Beth. Doesn't mean they won't go ahead and do it anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The mod community is enormous, provides Bethesda so much of their positive rep, and keeping the awareness around their games high. The backlash would be EPIC. It would be a BFII-level debacle.

Not saying you can't, I'm saying that for me this would be a severe downgrade in terms of value for money. And that base products from these franchises wouldn't nearly as interesting without all the mods. All I can say is that we have to wait and see. All we can do now is speculate. Also, who else wants a company like Obsidian or Farian to make an isometric Fallout RPG? I would definitely play that.

Not a New Vegas 2, but maybe something that takes place in New Orleans, El Paso, or Toronto (I can see them eventually make a Fallout outside the US).

I good go for a Fallout Toronto. Be able to go up the CN Tower to find out its overrun by ghouls Toronto (or Ronto as it's called in the Fallout universe) is supposed to be a big deal in the setting, so I can see it being quite a powerful state or statelet. That would make for an interesting setting. It would be nice to see some Quebecois traders and maybe speaking some French with them. A Fallout Canada or even a Fallout China seems possible, but that's probably in the far future. I would kill for a Fallout China.

To be honest, the rumors about C.club being an excuse to shut down places like Nexus and Steam workshop existed since the very first day they announced the return of Paid Mods 1.2 AKA Creation Club. I'm more concerned about the fact that there might not be any mods at all due to the on-line component, for obvious reasons.

Let's keep in mind that the recent Reddit rumor contradicts the Jason Schreier guy (from Kotaku) by saying that it's not a Rust clone. They could very well be trying to stamp out mods… or they could not. Personally, I trust the Kotaku guy more. Right now, the Reddit rumor is pretty out there (saying that they're going to announce TES 6 is pretty far-fetched), so I wouldn't really give it much thought. My personal speculation is that the game is going to have co-op and that's about it. It'll be like Borderlands, in a way.

Obsidian is busy with their own RPG at the moment I believe.
In regard to mod'ing, Skyrim was a great game out of the box but I don't feel that it was GotY worthy out of the box. The ridiculously crappy textures alone should have embarrassed Beth enough to turn down any such nominations.
The ability to mod these games into something spectacular is why I like Beth's games. The vanilla game is really just a framework for what mod'ers are going to turn it into.

So obviously not a clone, but perhaps inspired by it. The Kotaku guy actually leaked Fallout 4, and it turn out to be true every line. There was also an anonymous guy on 4Chan who said Beth was working on "Fallout 76" back in December of 2017. "Anonymous" does not give much confidence, but turns out he was right all along.

Honestly, if Fallout 76 allows me to create and play as a Mister Gutsy robot, a Super Mutant, Ghoul, or my own version of Dog meat alongside my gaming buddies, who are playing as vault dwellers, I will buy this game day one. Other than that though, the other features would have to really exceed my expectations for me to consider picking it up.
My gaming schedule is rather full at the moment so it will have to take more than a "Minecraft… but it's Fallout" type game to pique my interests.

The lore seems to state they were already in a really bad shape due to the end of oil supplies even before the great war. If it wasn't for the online feature, I would be very much interested in Fallout 76. I was aways curious to see how the Fallout wasteland looked like shortly after the nuclear war.
