I don't care what the villain is. So long as they are good. People trying to hard to make a big deal out of nothing.

HAY M8 DIDJA KNOW DAT ALIENS WERE WHITE GAIS? DIDJA? If you're so obsessed over waipipo being in your games, then you are a bit too worried about race my dude. "...not by the color of their skin but the content of their CHARACTER" Some random dude said that like 50 years ago. Too bad he was fookin' racist, i swear on me mum.

"...not by the color of their skin but the content of their CHARACTER" Some random dude said that like 50 years ago. Too bad he was fookin' racist, i swear on me mum. "Whites, it must frankly be said, are not putting in a similar mass effort to reeducate themselves out of their racial ignorance. It is an aspect of their sense of superiority that the white people of America believe they have so little to learn. The reality of substantial investment to assist Negroes into the twentieth century, adjusting to Negro neighbors and genuine school integration, is still a nightmare for all too many white Americans. (...) These are the deepest causes for contemporary abrasions between the races. Loose and easy language about equality, resonant resolutions about brotherhood fall pleasantly on the ear, but for the Negro there is a credibility gap he cannot overlook. He remembers that with each modest advance the white population promptly raises the argument that the Negro has come far enough. Each step forward accents an ever-present tendency to backlash.” Your 'content of the character' is the DREAM. MLK recognized that the dream is far from reality, but is to be pursued nonetheless. Until then, you talk about race. Especially since this is about fictional characters showing as representation in media, not MLK's little real or future white and Negro children.

No one is threatening a boycott or anything. Yeah this is all an emotionally backed (but I'm over that now) critique at best. It barely affects anything of my purchase decision other than maybe some long term perception of the company (as with anything that appears to be an inadequate trend, from gun handling to details of character models). I always think Bioware can do better. When they put their gay romances on the relative backburner in ME3, I knew they could do better. They knew they could do better. It isn't big. I'm certain at least some in Bioware notice at least something similar to my OP topic. Or something like "Hey, it has been quite a while since we've had a woman central antagonist, could there be a reason?" (whether there is or not)

Mod-edited. The spelling was troubling me too...
As this thread does appear to be generating some strained commentary and the OP was open to the possibility that it might go nowhere, I'm anchoring it.

I'm certain at least some in Bioware notice at least something similar to my OP topic. At the very least something like "Hey, it has been quite a while since we've had a woman central antagonist, could there be a reason?" (whether there is or not) anyone who complains about the race/gender of the people involved in creating the characters is either a racist bigot or a race baiting shit stirrer theres a reason why most people are unaware of race /gender of various things, and its primarily becasue they dont give a shit so long as its engaging I dont care what colour/gender someone is if there a cunt i'll tell them so, the fact others choose to read things into that only serves to highlight the bigoted racism they hold dear the constant push over the last few years to "champion diversity" has only served to highlight differences and force entrenched positions, 20 years ago dating someone from a different race didnt incur massive societal penalties or pressures whilst it does today thanks to people dedicating great efforts to undoing all those civil rights progress, black people were victims of their own making, they hung out with democrats and get treated like second class citizens dependant on welfare and due in no small part to their own laziness this has become an entrenched position that is now apparently racist to highlight... I dont infer that its their fault for being in that position historically since their lack of education would have caused the problem in the first place, however the following decades of handouts and despite being offered free education the refusal to better themselves and their lot in life preferring not to rock the boat of the free money has done massive damage to them as a group, and the fact they tend towards enclaving around their own doesnt help... white people are called racist for everything yet aside from a few dingbats who like swastikas the vast majority just want to keep their head down and get on wiht life, they dont speak up becasue they dont care unless it effects them personally and indeed doing so tends to get them sacked or charged with a crime the only people who speak up are in fact the racists and the bigots and they attempt to use reverse racism to assuage their personal guilt instead of just offering the same conditions to all (in the US this would be impossible due to the lack of state or federal funds available to provide the same welfare packages universally, and of course withdrawing the special conditions for some groups is considered highly racist despite just being a method of levelling the playing field) no doubt if there was a person who could provide the voice acting to the required standard they would be granted the job to do so were they to bother applying for it, but of course personal faith prevents a lot of people from even trying out for these coveted positions... as for the gender of anything, the subtext is that males tend to be physically stronger than non males as such in a might makes right universe the strongest seize power and attempt to exert their will on others as any monster would, the fact your able to choose a female or a male character is to be commended (especially since both genders have pro's and cons for why they would work well or not in any given situation) Bioware has generally been pretty good at granting such choices and like a lot of others I personally enjoy playing female characters in fantasy situations (not least of which becasue I enjoy looking at the female form) the recent push to change such things only serves to upset the audience, and lets be honest here theres zero reason why looking at someone and thinking "phwar" is a bad thing to do, its only bad if you take action based on those thoughts, objectification is a new buzzword tool of the ugly people to abuse those they see as competition who clearly garner such attention as a psychological attack against them for the crime of having different genetics.... insecurity breeds filth and decay and women are the worst for it

Ah? the constant focus on race /religion/gender is manufacturing dissent for the sake of making trouble ignoring those things and just getting the job done in the most expeditious way isnt racist its called cohesion, something both games and wider society is desperately in need of getting back to in other words games were better at imparting humour and morals when they didnt focus on topical issues/

I'm just enjoying all the people going "I don't care about who the villain is, as long as they're good."
And the villain isn't good. It's the defining characteristic of being a villain. Unless your protagonist is a bad guy and the antagonist is heroically trying to stop them, I guess. Anyway, the point is that English is funny.

Yes, we like to use the words a lot of different ways, never the same meaning twice That shit is fire retarded dope as fuck. Also, a "good villain" I take, as an Merkun, to mean "a well-written villain." That's what I hope for, not a stupid power tripper.
