Good morning, All. So in preparation/anticipation and hype for ANTHEM...running on the speculation that Players are going to be able to 'team up' and form their own guilds or 'cliques' if you will...Groups of people that you can regularly hang out with and go exploring with, or squads that have good rapport and can go out hunting together....What are some of the things that you would like to see (in terms of application and implementation) or be able to do either to make up your Guild, Squad or Team , or once you have your group together?
For example: For me, to be able to make up my Guild, Squad/Team I would like to be able to have some way to easily connect with people socially and then once we 'get to know each other' we can team up. I might also want to see some way that Players can co-ordinate playing time together based on their own calendars and availability (for those who have day jobs or family responsibilities). This would be preferred as opposed to signing on whenever you can and teaming up with different groups of people every time. If you find a group of people that you play nicely with, or if you seem to 'play well' with (and by that I mean, do things in game like always coordinate for amazing combos and you just seem to be 'in sync' with your attacks and play style)...Then of course, you want to continue to play with those people as much as possible.
Another cool feature that I might like to see is (considering that in the Open World there will be many players we will be able to interact with)...I think of cool feature would be actually seeing those other Players' Guilds in-game. I mean, you fly around to different spots or explore different parts of the map and it could be like 'wandering into a rival gang's territory' (except we're not rivals...we're all on the same side here, LOL). But one Guild Name could be "The Mighty Muffins"...and another could be "the Jammin' Javelins"....It would be neat if we could some how interact with other players' factions.
Now, I realize that Developers may already have this well in hand and have implemented these exact things (and that's great for us!) But these are just my thoughts on what I would like to see, especially as someone who will be new to this style of team-based, MP, MMO, Co-Op gameplay. I/we might also think of things as we play the Demo (it would be nice if we could....) and that is to be expected. But I'm just putting ideas out there....
What are your thoughts? Open Discussion is encouraged!

Another idea I had that I think would look really cool, would be to have an in-game Recruitment Office, like have players who are looking for Squad Members be able to 'advertise themselves'. This could either be silly or just extremely difficult to feasibly implement but I imagine it be to be like a Pilot in a Javelin standing on a platform and handing out flyers or making a PSA stating that they're looking for "a few good men/women" to join their guild. In reality, I understand that something like that could very well be impossible to create, but that is an illustration of something I see.
Or, perhaps more do-able would be to have a sort of recruitment option on the map (I'm thinking back to the video where the Devs were playing Scars & Villainy and they showed "Colossus 1, Ranger 1" etc. I'm wondering if there could be a part of the screen that could perhaps show the different Guilds or all of the "Freelancers" who are online at that particular time, and you wuold go to "Johnny" from the UFO Guild and say "Hey, I'm playing mission X...I'd like you to join my squad if you want to play that mission, if you want to."

It will be great when BioWare share more details about the guild system.
For me, it's important that a guild can be large - I don't want to have to mess about for a few 'friends' to be available, I'd like a large pool of guildmates, ideally from BSN that I can play with at a button=press in-game.
Certainly, many many people are setting up Discords but again, I'd like high player numbers to access and don't want to use 3rd party applications.

Certainly, many many people are setting up Discords but again, I'd like high player numbers to access and don't want to use 3rd party applications. I agree, Sofa Jockey. The one thing I've always found most intimidating and even off-putting about MP style games (like SW Battlefield 2 for example) where it's PVP and you have dozens or hundreds of players running thither and yarn all over the map (well, as I've alluded to before, I find that type of game play very confusing and I never knew what to do)....But more than that to the point of this thread was that in trying to play a game, I was always forced to do a specfic mission because that was the only one available at the time and/or I was forced into playing/joining certain players (possibly interrupting or interfering with a game that they had organized)...and all of those things combined were very awkward both for the gameplay or even for me, personally from a social perspective.
To your point, I'd like to see something available that would allow or enable to me to connect with people that (in a manner of speaking) I already know, people from BSN, and I too would like to see our Guilds be able to be larger in number (and not limited to "each Guild can only have 12 players each with which to choose to play with"). I would also like how we connect with other players to, in some way be interconnected with this Forum and not have to download or use a whole different site or application to search for people to play with. I agree with that point; to be forced to use or download "application ABC" to search for players or do any particular action would be too many hoops to jump through. It's like being forced to download Anti-Virus software that you don't want or need because it's been piggybacked onto a software that you do want/need (I'm thinking of Adobe and their use of McAfee...which is garbage anyways, and its creator is known to be shady). Too frustrating.
But what are Discords exactly? That's something I've only signed-up to in the past 36 hours, and I'm not entirely sure of how to use them appropriately or what purpose they serve.
Definitely looking forward to Bioware sharing information on how they intend the Guilds, or other Team-making efforts to function

Discords are more of a 'PC thing' as I understand it (maybe someone who knows can chip in). They are basically an online chat room and everyone has one because they are a thing cool kids have.

I certainly plan to set up a BSN Guild on PS4 on release day, which I'm taking vacation time off work to dive straight into Anthem. My goal would be for everyone here on PS4 to join it so that there is a large pool of players on at various hours. That will very naturally, as we all start to observe who's on during our normal gaming times, help us to find our regular squad or particular members to run the 4-man groups with. So, my goals would sort of look like this: 1. Establish a guild where people can find members on at the same time as themselves, and start to form squads from that. 2. As everyone starts to become familiar with Anthem's mechanics and builds, start looking for some "leadership" within the guild who would like to specifically help members new to Anthem or MP in general. We did this a lot in ME3MP - have 2 or 3 established players bring a new player into their group and we'd set out on missions and explain tactics, builds, etc. As the new players ran with us and got a feel for things, they grew stronger, started asking deeper mechanics questions, and very quickly became one of those established veterans themselves, taking on new members under their wing - a cycle of growth and help. 3. Once we have a better idea of what events and challenges look like, I'd like to help get groups running to complete those. For example, if there's a specific weekend challenge, we can use the guild to alert folks to what that challenge is and do runs to complete it. 4. Be able to form squads within the guild that are dedicated to running strongholds and other higher-level difficulty content, who can then turn around and lend support to newer members. SofaJockey - Discord seems to be the new hotness for gamers staying in touch no matter their platform or whether or not they are in-game at the moment. I originally ended up on it because my RL sparring group is all college-age and don't do Facebook anymore (that is for us old people now, seems like), so it was the only way to ping them about what day/times we're all available to meet up at the park and bash each other with padded swords. Discord has text chat rooms and voice chat rooms and are private - only people you give the invite link to can access and my understanding is that nothing on Discord is Google-searchable, so viewed as a private and "safe" space to interact. How true or not that is, I don't know. As far as gamers using it, this is how I see Elder Scrolls Online guilds using it - in that game, there is guild text chat. Obviously, you can only type in guild chat when you are in the game. Guilds also have a "Message of the Day" area in the game so members can open up their guild and see any important messages that guild leadership has posted (such as a current raffle or organizing an event run), but that has very limited space to write. If a guild is active and does lots of activities, space can become precious for advertising guild events. Thus, lots of ESO guilds have a Discord server - with the invite link posted in their guild's in-game Message of the Day area. On the guild's Discord, they have all the space they want for posting raffles, organizing events, etc. You can make different channels which work like boards here on the forum - so, a channel where people can post request for armor/weapon crafting, a channel for folks to group up and do dungeons, etc. Discord is accessible from laptop/desktop or a phone app, so it makes it super easy and convenient for chatting when not in-game. Think of it a bit like a big group text message, but organized like a forum with various boards for different content areas.

So here's the specific quote from Ben: "When you play the game, you would choose from your friends, guildmates, [or] other like-minded individuals..."So how does that work? On a console, the game will presumably pull up your 'friends' list. But there needs to be a process that allows: - The game to recognize an existing guild (and a process for setting that up), and
- Individuals to join one or more guilds.
I may be wrong, but I'm betting that Discord servers will not be a part of that process even if players may use Discord to talk to each on some platforms. I'm working the problem, here...

From other game experience, a lot of guilds seem to have discord servers set up on PC and tend to use it instead of built in ingame chat.

Oh, yeah, I wasn't saying BioWare would officially be using or setting up guild Discord channels.
I'm just saying the users/players will likely do that. Some will, some won't. Just like ESO, some guilds do that and some won't.

If they allow large guilds, we could have a guild subsection here. That would give space for recruiting, organizing, and generally chatting among guild members without resorting to yet another location. It wouldn't offer voice chat, but I believe that would be available in-game among group members if you have a headset.

For me personally I hope for better than Destiny system not quite as cool as Warframe system. Not that I wouldn't want Warframe levels of clan/guild support but I don't see that happening out of the gate.
On a personal membership level I can only join if it is cool that: 1. I like to play solo quite a bit. My first play through of the campaign will likely be entirely solo. 2. I sometimes take breaks from multiplayer games to play some single player games, sometimes for weeks at a time. 3. I probably won't be top tier in the 'elite' activities. 4. RL always comes first. During the summer tourist season for example I work 12 - 16 hours 6 days a week. Not much time for games. 5. I am a middle aged dude.

On a more serious note, my thoughts for a BSN guild would be that it’s a place for people like many on the BSN who don’t necessarily have groups of people they play with for games like this and want to have a pool of people who will be up for helping out with activities and asking for advice.
Not a hardcore guild that kicks people for being inactive
