For everyone complaining that all the recent gameplay vids are on Easy or Normal and everything looks too easy or boring, try this vid. Dude almost dies half a dozen times during that last stage. Where's that Ultimate when you need it?

this has been posted before.
Also, he plays really weird (i.e. tactically wrong) at the final part. He keeps focusing on the big guy and keeps getting hit by the little guys around him, while he should obviously take out the little ones first so he can run circles around the big guy.

I still think the mobs go down way too easy and not at all reactive (maybe it's the latter that's really the problem). Moving forward some changes I'd recommend is to have more, different, and multiple simultaneous bosses integrated throughout each mission. It was only difficult at the end because he handicapped himself...it's as Pillarbiter said the mobs should have been taken out first.
K+M looked smooth...me likey.

This is one of the first missions after the tutorial, so I wouldn’t expect it to be the best measure for difficulty.
Not to minimize the issue, just that you shouldn’t expect to see the hardest the game can be in this footage, or all the variety of enemy composition on display.

I feel like no developer can win on this topic. If you make the enemies too squishy, then the game looks too easy. If they take more than 6 seconds to bring down with constant weapon fire, than they're too bullet spongy. I think lennybusker put up an infographic of how enemy density and enemy health/difficulty are - typically - inversely proportional to each other.

Interesting if only to see someone play an Interceptor that leaned heavily into gunplay, rather than melee. Melee seems to be more effective (at least than this particular gun), but naturally greater risk.

It's a pickle to be sure...though I'm not asking for bullet sponges...how about just having mob-types scatter and flank you (rather than spawning and standing around clustered together) mixed in with more special units. Higher difficulties should spawn more and variable boss-types.

I will have to agree with him about the lights show, it was a bit hard to see some enemies in the middle of all that. This is one of my bigger complaints about the game so far. All of the explosions and particle effects are really detrimental to maintaining situational awareness. I'm sure some of that will be alleviated once we start playing and get more familiar with all the different effects (so instead of seeing just "BLUE EXPLOSION -> RED FLARE -> GREEN SPLASH" we'll automatically convert that in our heads to "Ability X -> Ability Y -> Ability Z"). However, some things do just seem overdone. For example the UI effects during the interceptor ultimate: why are there random textures which provide no useful information filling up a quarter of the screen along with a weird filter that tints everything green and applies a distortion effect? Also the Storm ultimate just looks like a clusterf**k. I get that you want it to look cool and powerful, but it just overwhelms everything else within its radius.

Interesting if only to see someone play an Interceptor that leaned heavily into gunplay, rather than melee. Melee seems to be more effective (at least than this particular gun), but naturally greater risk. He mentioned at the beginning of the video that he couldn't change javelins, so there might be some regret there. Anyway I'd probably play interceptor similar to him, not because it's more effective but because why would you play a 3rd person shooter then charge into melee all day? xD If I wanted to play Anthem, I have visions of performing cool aerial moves while whipping out a gun and letting it rip. Not so much charging in like I would in Ninja Gaiden But concerning the vid, he showed his audience gunplay, he showed his audience melee, he showed his audience some vanilla interceptor abilities. It may not be an effective way to play, it may not be the way he'd choose to play normally, but he probably chose his style with his audience in mind. I like watching the combat in this vid. He does a good job imo.

Hmm, hadn't noticed this yet in particular. But yes, now that you mention it... it IS kind of flashy. Not good for people with problems in epilepsy either.
Let's hope they tone it down slightly.
Also, this is the first video I've seen where the player is actually tactically decent. He played well, which was lovely to see.

It is very flashy, like MEA(MP) is too, which is straining for some peoples eyes. More so with HDR enabled. Though, these dont generally affect me personally, but the screen shaking does. It was one of the off putting things in me3mp. In Anthem it seems to happen mostly when launching the boosters.

'more bangs! more pizazz!...' Followed right after with threads from the same people complaining that "My PC can't run it!!1!", "My FPS goes below 20 with so many explosions", "I meet the minimum specs, why do I have to turn down the effects?", "I get dizzy from the flashes", "I play <put any Javelin> and you must tone down it's particle effects", "So many explosions break my immersion".

There are still plenty of people on YouTube posting how 'dull and boring' it looks, so I can understand the pressure on the devs I don't think those people are complaining that the SFX aren't flashy enough, though (I mean I'm sure some are, but probably not the majority). Moreover, I think you can pull off "flashy" and "exciting" effects without going overboard. For example, the Storm's electric AoE attack right now summons a bright white/blue explosion at the center of the AoE that semi-obscures everything around it. It looks big and impressive, sure, but also distracting to a degree. You could change it so that the main explosion is a lot smaller and instead have bolts of lightning radiating from the center to any enemies that are affected. I bet you could still make it look impressive but not as distracting (since there is no longer a huge explosion), and has the bonus effect of letting you know which enemies were hit without having to spot damage floaties.

For example the UI effects during the interceptor ultimate: why are there random textures which provide no useful information filling up a quarter of the screen Well, not no useful information -- the countdown clock on the ability is encoded in those side bars/curves. But I generally agree. Personally, I have a high tolerance for that stuff -- vis. my DAI Descent DLC video -- so it doesn't bother me too much, but it does beg the question, who is the lightshow for, exactly? Who thinks the game is better for it? Combat is the means to the loot pursuit end, so things that make combat fun and challenging are things that should stay in the game and be enhanced. Things that distract, or are boring, or too easy, should be removed. So who is having more fun or getting more (reasonable, git gudable) challenge from the light show?
