The Hidden Depths mission from start to finish edited for pacing, but rolling in with a three man team of the Interceptor, Storm, and Colossus javelins.

The gameplay looked fun. Nice to see a return of Bioware's patented logic puzzles-lite. I had a good chuckle at the "most ridiculously guarded book ever" line.
The titan at the end didn't look as big as I expected (maybe there's a greater titan?). It also reinforced my opinion that titans really need to be more dangerous given how immobile they are. The players were taking basically no damage from that fight until the adds started flooding in. Maybe make its ranged attacks less dodge-able (though the colossus did get hit by at least one attack...but that was more because he wasn't moving at all), or have some kind of incentive to go close (perhaps with creative placement of weak points) - something so that the hang back and spam dps from range strat isn't so ridiculously effective (and boring).
One last thing - not a fan of Matthias's (sp?) VA. All of his dialogue sounds like he's struggling to physically say the words. He also has exactly one tone that he uses for everything. At the end, when he is ostensibly supposed to be elated, he doesn't sound happy or joyous or even relieved.

I just realized that Matthias is pretty jacked for our resident head nerd. Look at those delts and triceps! I guess he sounds the way he does cause he's always in the gym lifting weights while talking to us.

If we don't get an Anthem Tower of Hanoi, it will be all the proof we need that the BioWare staff has been replaced by pod people.
Quest versions of overworld bosses are almost always lesser than their free range bretheren.
My thoughts on the vid: It looked ok, for Alpha, but every video so far has made the weapons look like nerf guns half the time, or until x combo goes off. Maybe it's prevalence of yellow bars, or the lack of tuning in alpha footage, I don't know, but it just doesn't feel impressive. And I really don't know why anyone would want to play the interceptor. So far, it looks less like 'skilled melee combatant' and more like 'wild flailing until you've wildly flailed past the target'. Again, maybe that's just a result of all this STILL being alpha footage.
A month out, and they still don't have footage from a build closer to release?

Again, maybe that's just a result of all this STILL being alpha footage. I think part of the problem is that these guys might not be geared correctly for a weapons-focus. It does seem like abilities in Anthem have a higher skill floor than weapons, but let's hope that with the correct optimizations you can make effective weapons builds. As for the interceptor looking unskilled, I think that's down to the player here, not the javelin. Just because you can flail wildly to no avail doesn't mean you can never rise above that.

eah, but so far I haven't seen any footage where they haven't just flailed around in hopes of hitting something. I'd love to be wrong! Please show me footage that proves me wrong! This dev livestream shows a melee-focused interceptor put to more...targeted use. You see a lot more instances of the interceptor flying around and picking off HVTs (snipers, mostly) in 1-on-1 scenarios, which seems to be its strength, as opposed to running headfirst into the main fight. You also see a lot more instances of trying to flank enemies (esp bosses) as well.

Lots of videos appearing now. If i get the interceptor i will not focus on melee with it being so squishy.
The Colossus looked cool howeve byr just throwing enemies aside while charging with the shield.

All that banter you could hear got obnoxious after a while. Combat was more boring in this video, didn't help that the enemies were either bullet sponges or trash mobs, and the player was just bashing on them till they died. Exploration ... I'm not feeling it, but this video wasn't made for that.

Without giving anything away I shouldn't, I would imagine it's very different watching a video edited for pace, and playing a game with broader pacing where such comments are made while you are busy doing other things.

Also, I do want to note that this vid shows that there will actually be quite the amount of variant fauna to shoot/slice/burn/electrify/freeze/[insert generalistic sadistry].
We'll be killing them by the bucketloads, of course, but still; nice to see some variation.

Huh, I had the opposite reaction, found Matthias way more authentic than Owen. So far my Cypher VA performance standings are: Brin > Matthias >> Owen

A month out, and they still don't have footage from a build closer to release? Why are you expecting to see the current build? Why should they expend the effort to QA a current build for PR purposes, when a demo is right around the corner? They’ve said the demo is more current, but still old, so set expectations accordingly. Lack of gameplay on the current or even recent builds is totally expected and not indicative of any kind of problem.

In any case, just substitute "a build closer to release" for "current build" in everything I said, it's the same point. Who knows how long it takes to QA a build for public consumption? I wouldn't be surprised if it was 4 weeks. BUT, the dev stream published today showed a build closer to release, e.g., the party health/shield bars and location widgets. So you got your wish. Not sure how close, could be 4 weeks old as noted, but more recent than the alpha footages shown by IGN. And it glitched mid session and they had to restart the LC.

If it's the same point, then you didn't think it through. It's pretty clear you had a knee jerk reaction to my post, that you apparently didn't read very well, and now you're just tossing out words because I called you on it. I know you're capable of an "Oops, my bad, sorry about that", because I've seen it. Now would have been an appropriate time to make use of that, to which I could have replied "No worries, we've all done it", and we both could have gone on about our day.
In any case, there is new footage available, so I can watch it and see if what I had concerns about has been changed between Alpha and now. I certainly hope so, because I'd like Anthem to be enjoyable and at least moderately successful.

I definitely make mistakes, I'm human after all. Not sure what that has to do with anything. I stand by both my original wording and my revised wording of this particular exchange, which I conceded only to emphasize that my point still holds regardless of what timeframe is chosen. If you like, I'll add a proviso: with the exception of dev livestreams, which appear to use more recent builds, we shouldn't have an expectation of seeing anything beyond the old, alpha build shared with influencers in December, because a) the cost of testing a build for PR purposes is prohibitive, and b ) the demo is right around the corner. Not that the demo is all that recent a build, as they've already acknowledged. So set expectations accordingly. Ironically, the livestreams prove my point, since at least three of them glitched out, suggesting that less testing has been done on them than would otherwise be desirable for public display.
