In all the topics about the various aspects of the Anthem, we haven't really discussed the developers themselves. How do you all feel about how BioWare has been doing in terms of informing players about the contents of Anthem (be it story, characters, gameplay mechanics, progression, endgame, etc)? I know that there's a sizable portion of the BSN community that is indifferent to the title, or skeptical; as there are people who are receptive or excited. I'm hoping everyone can divorce how they feel about the game itself, and look to how the developers have been handling information regarding Anthem. As of now, the developers have been vocal across these various media/social platforms: - Twitter (Commentary about the game has largely been headed by Mike Gamble, Mark Darrah, Ben Irving, and Jon Warner; all members in leadership positions of the game. These developers have all engaged in dialogue with the community. Mark is most notable for his AMAAAA [Ask Me Almost Anything About Anthem] series) - Twitch (Livestreams have been hosted primarily by either Jon, Mike, and/or Ben, with co-hosts being Anthem developers specialized in one particular aspect of the game; normally related to the topic of the livestream) - YouTube (Recently, they've started up their own informational series [This Is Anthem] about the game. They've also transferred their Twitch livestreams onto the channel as well) - Reddit (There have been numerous developers at BioWare who've been communicating with the Anthem subreddit community. The most prominent have been Brenon Holmes, BioAdmiral [Community Manager @ BioWare], and Ben Irving). - We also had one post from Brenon Holmes here on the boards... and he was never heard of again (there's still Luke though)To start off on my own opinions, I actually think this has been some of the most communicative behavior I've seen in a developer in a long time; prior to their games retail release. Many other big name AAA studios (like Bethesda or Rockstar) typically let the name recognition carry the hype for their games; though they do release some gameplay footage of their own. This isn't to suggest that they'll keep up the tempo they've set for Anthem - prior to release - mind you, but it is great to see that they're laying out most of the info people need to make an informed decision. I've seen people who have completely changed their mind about the game due to developer comments on Reddit, and others who have been utterly turned off from it due to what they've seen from the livestreams or more recent IGN videos. They're not the only communicative developer studio, and I don't want people to get that impression from me. In fact, there are some areas that I've seen (which will hopefully be addressed) that I think we could use more info. A vast majority of this is related to the games characters (be it protagonists/antagonists). We know about The Monitor, his and The Dominions goals, but what type of people are they? What about our own people in The Fort? Hopefully, future videos will expand on these characters. So yeah, feel free to voice your opinion.

Gamers should be happy about this, though imo this is a reaction to previous releases like Mass Effect 3, where people tried to sue them (unsuccessfully) for false advertising. Now they're being open, which is good. Transparency is always beneficial for the consumer

I'm digging it. The info has been great so far and not too spoilery. I hope this represents Bioware's M.O. going forward, especially for Dragon Age.

My applause and enthusiasm for the level and volume of transparency is high, but not at the highest, due to my nagging suspicion that it is motivated as a reaction to the SWBF2 debacle. If that debacle had not happened, would we be getting this much transparency? We’ll never know.
I do think this ought to be a business school case study on an effective way to promote a new IP in a crowded market after a major customer base scandal/PR dumpster fire. They clearly made a plan and are executing it remarkably well.

Hell, there may have likely been lootboxes in the game as well...Okay, there definitely would have been.

They clearly made a plan and are executing it remarkably well. I think it's the way we're headed in general. People are just exhausted at companies trying to market stuff at them disingenuously. Being open and transparent about a game rather than rely on marketing buzzwords, I think Bioware will restore a lot of goodwill if they continue heading this way in the future

We need the following to happen: - Transparent communication: it will be fair and acceptable for consumers.
- When the game launches: it is fair and acceptable for consumers.
- As the game develops over time: it continues to be fair and acceptable for consumers.
At each milestone, if achieved, a tranche of players will go - ok, I might not like EA, but I'll invest in a BioWare game.
Rebuilding a reputation takes time, but each additional transparent and then validated action will help.

Bioware was pretty much painted into a corner without much choice, so they made the right choice because what else could they do? Companies with more freedom of choice will naturally gravitate towards secrecy. It's the lower risk option, not to mention lower effort.

It's not unlikely since their previous MP modes have lootboxes as the only way to acquire loot.

Mixed. While gameplay mechanics have been covered ok to good the story side dint arrive at all for me. There is a claim they make for telling story in a new way - i can still only guess what that means. Only yesterday I think they revealed what they mean by that: Proceduralises missions or contracz or wossname. Which should help diversity in the overall gameplay but I wouldn't exactly call that story-related.
And having plans about future content being mentioned - nothing I ever heard what that might entail. Sure 4 javelins look like fun but what about down tje road?

And then there is YT channela i kinda find suspicious. Those with no history whatsoever popping into existence and covering the game. Looks fishy.
I rather watch Ashe who discloses taking part in EA promo activity but at least I can lock at her track record.
Gaming news I dont follow or consult. EA can throw all the exclusive info they want.

Probably good i suppose but I do not do twitter, reddit, instagram, youtube, facebook. (as in i do not subscribe to anything like that.
I get all of my info from here. Any game I am interested in i try and find that companies web forums.
I wonder how many people that accessed the old official bioware forums do not know this place exists?
