Played some more in the customization section (already see I'm going to be wasting big blocks of time on that). Did some freeplay, but was experiencing rubberbanding so I left. Generally haven't had too many problems getting in since around 4pm yesterday EDT. My son used one of my invites and also had no issues. We had a blast together last night running around killing random stuff and I helped him through the final mission. Also regret selecting the Colossus as it sucked...or maybe it's that I suck using the Colossus.
Bio has some work to do over the next month but this thing has loads of potential.

Tried the group content mission. We had to abandon it since it glitched at a point and didn't spawn all the quest items we needed to go further.
I really "appreciate" that the game told me to use a controller button if I want to drop an item. Because apparently my KB/M setup has that. So under heavy fire, running for my life, I can't drop the item and fly because I DON'T BLOODY KNOW WHICH BUTTON I HAVE TO USE. This "demo" has serious issues. Issues that don't look like something that will be fixed for the launch.

How do you unlock the second javelin? Get to level 12. yeah but don't skip the end mission screen or close the game after, go straight to the forge and it should let you unlock. It's bugged for some people and not unlocking.

Almost everyone is complaining of serious rubberbanding in freeplay, yet things are much better in regular missions. That's troubling. Maybe a different kind of network architecture at work in freeplay.
I said over and over again they should have called this a beta. They shot themselves in the foot calling it a demo, which is supposed to be a FINISHED slice of the game.

If the "demo" is any indication, this game needed several more months worth of polish and some serious beta testing. The content is not near good enough to make people keep trying to bypass the technical issues at every corner. I spend more time restarting the game and praying to load than playing. It's all stuff that would have been ironed out with wide beta testing through several months, not two weeks before launch.
Got to the end of the Stronghold and the infamous Spider. Halfway through the fight my teammates thought they are also Colossus class and jumped in the middle of a swarm, dying to the last, then the spiders got me too. Of course infinite loading screen and game freeze, so all the work gone.
I am tired of all the issues that don't seem to even get fixed and it's been what, 20 hours already? Dropping the game until tomorrow in hope that something gets fixed. So far the experience has been 6 out of 10 and that's me being generous. I don't appreciate Bioware using their paying customers as guinea pigs for an unpolished beta in order to try and fix things for the open beta. And we are not even testing the launch version. Imagine the bugs and issues that will pop up there. Anthem is off to a very bad start and the launch version should be miraculous if Bioware wants to avoid a bomb.

Whatever they call it, it's unlikely to be a finished product by 22.02.

I can launch and get into the game, but it's a game of whether or not I can get outside of Fort Tarsis. But the javelin customization is fun.

Lagging and runbberbanding all over just like I used To in mass effect multiplayer unless I was host, no one in party talked and went off doing their own thing leaving me to struggle in a cave for half an hour alone. To top it off when I finish I skip the xp part at the end and it rewards me no xp at all. still at level 11 and three quarters. I'm looking for a group if anyone wants to play. Xbox

Some more thoughts now that I finally stopped battling with this buggy mess of a beta (demo):
Avoid underwater areas like a plague. Navigating in water is a horrible experience and sadly mandatory for the Stronghold.
No gun range in Fort Tarsis means you have absolutely no clue how your new weapons work. Always test new items when you are out in the open and before combat. The descriptions are absolutely unhelpful and you can end up equipping weapons that are completely wrong for your playstyle.
Running out of ammo is far too easy. Not helpful that in scripted encounters the ammo/health drops are usually where the enemies keep spawning since that's where you kill them (despite Bioware's "promises" that static enemies were a bug, they are still pretty static). It makes it a pain to reload and heal up. And if you have no ammo, well...you can't kill in order to get health/ammo drops. And the "best" part is you can pull a great feat of using cover and specials to kill several enemies in a row and NONE of them drops anything. I swear it seems the game throws ammo and health at me when I don't need it and suddenly dries up when I am all out. Not even going to rant on the slow reloading compared to the little ammo you carry and the enemies bullet sponginess. If we are to be ammo hungry by design, make those abilities CDs faster, Bioware
The Colossus cannon is a complete crap. It takes several seconds until it starts firing which is enough time for the enemies you are pointing it at to kill you And it's damage is pathetic even when it warms up enough to fire. At long range it's crap, at short range it's unusable due to the "warm up". If you want to use it you better press the fire button in cover, wait a few seconds and pop up to target enemies once it starts shooting. And get ready to run out of ammo on it real damn fast. Like after killing 1 strong enemy or a couple weak ones. I am actually not sure if the gun can kill a strong enemy without reloading twice.
The Colossus shield sounds cool, but seems unintuitive to use. Could be just me. And it melts really fast which makes the other Javelins Dodge ability far superior. Shield slam and Shield run do pathetic damage, but are great to bring you closer to enemies to help them kill you.
Shotguns are weak, Sniper rifles are extremely weak.
If you just step near something with an incline, well, I hope you are not being under fire because the game just loves to trip/slide you over and cancel any attempt of you to do anything - firing, dodging, shielding, jumping or whatever, you are just a big fat stumbling target for a few seconds. On that note - don't trust the targeting reticle if you try to shoot around cover. You will hit the wall more often than not.
The game does a poor job indicating where the hits come from. I tried specifically to learn the indicators but still can't figure them out, especially in a heated firefight.
All of this could be just me and I need to "git gud", but I can easily see how lots of those things can be improved with little effort. Bioware never did proper testing on this game and if they think they can fix and tweak such issues on the fly during launch...Yeah...

Honestly. The demo was really bad. I think half of the attempts to do a mission involved us alt-F4'ing and restarting. It got annoying doing it for every mission.
The guns sound absolutely horrid, I think listening to Warframe gun sounds while underwater in a cave would sound better than Anthem's gun sounds and their explosions... pretty but the sound it felt so fucking small and insignificant due to the sound.
And the guns barely had any kick or impact to them. It felt like I was using a bloody peashooter.
Why the fuck is there a Stamina system? There's a reason why Warframe got rid of theirs and Destiny doesn't have one. Because stopping for a minute to wait for it to cool down = time spent not having fun.
The load times. Dear god the load times. I could've gotten 3 Warframe missions done in the time it took to load. Probably play a large civ 5 game.
Honestly it has the potential to be good but the bad parts just make me want to play Warframe where I'll have quick fast fun with gunplay that feels like I'm brutally murdering shit.
And to top it all off. BioWare essentially DDos'd themselves when the launch started up.
I wouldn't want to pay full price for it at this point. It feels unfinished.

are you playing on hard? I find the enemies to be very agressive, flanking me and not letting me take cover, rushing me constantly. The shotty I have (Vengeance) is a beast and strips shields and destroys normal enemies in one shot. I've used the whirlwind which is a sniper hybrid which was great and now I'm using the scout which again is great. The sniper I tried is it dead eye, yeah that was terrible. Can't speak on the Colossus. Storm is fantastic.

Hm... you forget that this VIP_demo _game is not the GOLD version. problems found here, unless they are at the "server" level, may not be fixed on the GOLD one until after launch.

This demo version is a branch_off the main GOLD version and is about 4-6 weeks old (from what I understand).

Played through the stronghold on Hard. Enemy damage output is quite punishing, forcing you to play hide and seek behind rocks and obstructions. That's well and good, but then you're closing off an entire portion of the game - the flying and vertical maneuvering. Hovering out in the open is death, just like it was on the harder difficulties in ME:A. There was a running joke for lots of us tryhards in the MEA Co-Op forums that the devs probably balanced everything for Bronze/Silver, which is why Gold/Platinum were trainwrecks for quite some time.
Anthem feels the same to me. Maybe the combat rhythm will change with better gear loadouts, but suffering through 20 hours of having to play peekaboo until I can get out in the open to fight is going to be frustrating.

After Inquisition, Andromeda and now Anthem, it is possible to conclude with 100% certainty: Bioware DOES NOT know how to program in Frostbite. They are the same problems, from the menu and interface of the game and also movement of the characters and animations.
