So, as an avid ME/3MP player, Andromeda preorderer (and quite enjoyer), Destiny, Division and Battlefront grinder, I might be the very model of Anthem consumer, yet after watching many previews, gameplays etc. I feel like the games is gonna sail past me, at least for the full price at launch. Might be the general mmo exhaustion, might be there's nothing "extra spicy" in there to catch my attention...
This is by no means a derogatory post; I do hope Anthem plays well and does well, if only to keep BW afloat, but I fear Division 2 (which I'll be actually buying) will take away large chunk of sales. Any fellow gamers feel the same way..? Anyone waiting for reviews and/or first month of inevitable bug discovering and patching?

I did play The Divison but found it a little soulless (and getting ganked in the Dark Zone was no fun) so I'm leaning the other way toward Anthem.
The Division 2 being more of a traditional shooter, is perhaps more pew pew than Iron Man. Just a preference?

I was on the fence but recently was swayed into being quite hyped with a smattering of cautious optimism.
I am actually curious to know how many people that would generally be day one Bio purchasers are leaning more towards The Division 2?
Ubisoft has been doing a lot right lately and I have to commend them for sticking with their games, even games that got off to rough starts. They seem to have made an almost company wide directive to not cut and run and put in hours and money to fix their games up. The Division, Siege, and For Honor come to mind as real standouts in this regard.
Their continued support and community involvement for AC: Odyssey has also impressed me.
When I think of Mass Effect Andromeda I feel a bit sad that Bioware didn't take this exact approach. Instead of just jumping ship I wish they would have continued to support the game, patch it up, maybe even change some dialogue and just in general get in the trenches and improve the experience even if it wasn't 'profitable' short term.

I have already pre-ordered the LOD Ed. and will be playing on PC as soon as I can. I enjoyed Andromeda, though I will say that it did not carry the emotional weight or make the emotional impact on me that the OT did, and I suppose that was because we spent so many years spanning three full games and countless hours getting to know all of these richly detailed characters from the OT, that the Trilogy taken as a whole really did leave quite an impact on me. Andromeda...I enjoyed the characters, story, combat and gameplay, but at the end...I wasn't 'emotional' about the whole experience.
I am very interested and excited for ANTHEM, and I do hope it does well for a lot of reasons (most notably to give all the hard working Devs at Bioware a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction from all their hard work and efforts...to see it be well-received would be a huge sigh of "mission accomplished" for them I am sure). Now, in my opinion.... I have seen videos of The Division and even Destiny, and personally, I don't find those titles appealing at all. Sometimes I wonder what the draw is and why all the hype...But everyone is different and has different choices and preferences for what they enjoy in and about a game.

So yeah, it sure is about preference. Anyway, is Anthem getting any pvp of sorts? monkeylungs: That was a nice sum-up, almost exactly my feelings. Ubi sure does support their products quite a long time, while Andromeda felt like an unwanted child. Also, what did happen to that quarian ark? )

I was righ there with you, not really interested in this type of game, I expected to ignore Anthem completely. Then I tried Destiny 2. Here goes my “I’ll never give any money to EA EVER again.” Life is full of surprises, when you least expect them.

I'm just the opposite. I love pve but hate pvp. Played Destiny daily for over 4 years but it just felt like everything became balanced around pvp. Figure I'll jump on Anthem until they add pvp, kinda sounds like a foregone conclusion at this point, probably bail after that, specially if bioware starts nerfing crap once that small minority of pvp players hit the forums crying for nerfs.

One thing that I am really excited about for Anthem is no PVP ... and I don't hate PVP, probably 1/4 of my time in Destiny was crucible. I just don't think all games need it. This game in particular would have a heck of a time balancing the PVP aspect around the different Javelins.

This game in particular would have a heck of a time balancing the PVP aspect around the different Javelins. Other than a play through on ME2, I pretty much took a 30 year break from gaming. I bought Destiny a few years before I retired. My idea of pvp was still some buddies eating pizza playing on a 20 inch console hoping the game didn't bug out because the internet didn't exist back then and there were no such things as patches. While I thought Destiny was pretty awesome when it came out, in hind sight, might not have been the best game to get into right off the bat. Between Destiny and a few attempts with a few of the dedicated pvp games, pvp just isn't my thing. I'm actually not against pvp, but if Bioware adds pvp and then handles pve and pvp balancing like Bungie does, uhhgg, I'll just move along. Turns out single player open world rpg's tend to be what I truly enjoy anyway. Still sad Andromeda got shot down before it actually had a chance.

Trying to add PVP is just resources they could be using to improve the single player and co-op experiences.

I'm quite the opposite as before I was able to test Anthem in the Alpha I was skeptical and wasn't sure if Anthem is a game for me because I didn't like Destiny 1&2 or Warframe. After Alpha tests, I was sure I will like it and probably will spend a long time with it as the game was very enjoyable and now can't wait for VIP demo and release day. But from March I will have a bit of a problem with choosing what to play as bought Division 2 and TW Three Kingdoms too.

I personally don't find looter shooters fun. But I've watched The Division 2 gameplay, and it looks very fun. I've watched some Anthem gameplay as well and it just reminds me of Andromeda MP, which wasn't very fun IMO. If I were to buy one, it would be The Division. It looks like it has so much more going for it.

The Division 1 is actually really fun as well so if they improve that then Division 2 will have a good bit going for it.
Also I keep saying this about Ubisoft but it bears repeating ... they have been sticking with their games and investing heavily into refining and improving them. It's something I really admire.

I like looter-shooters enough to have 2500+ hours played in Warframe, and I have bought my share of MTX in that game because I feel that for so many hours of good fun, Digital Extremes deserves my support.
But I have no plans to buy Anthem on release. I will very likely try the free demo, but that is mere curiosity - at the moment I have no intention to invest any substantial amount of time and money into the game. I might buy it as a "yeah why not" game at a greatly reduced price though.
My reasons are mostly that the gameplay looks pretty boring to me and features I didn't like in both MEMPs returning.

I love the original Rainbow SIX and it's Expansions Rogue Spear and Urban Ops.... and the games OSTs are amazing. Epic scores for all of those games. I bought RS: Vegas, but it was garbage. Then I bought RS Vegas 2 and that was much better. Really enjoyed that game, even my Dad got into it...But since I have been into games like Mass Effect and the like, well, I just Youtube'd The Division to find out what that game was all about because I know it's popular but I didn't/don't know anything about it....And found that I couldn't even stand to watch it for 5 minutes. The graphics look like something produced around the same time as Rainbow Six...But, I wasn't keen on the gameplay for some reason. I honestly can't say why, I can't put my finger on it. But something about The Division really bothered me.
In any case, to each their own. Everyone is different and likes different types, styles of games. But for ANTHEM, I am excited!
PS: My Download for the Demo just finished and notified me in Origin.......I won't do anything at this time....But I am kind of curious to see/know what would happen if I tried to play it now.
I would cry if it kicked me off and said I was in violation of something....So to preclude that from ever happening I'll be good and resist the temptation to push the button that reads "PLAY ME NOW! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!! C'MON! Don't be Chicken!"

I'm just the opposite. I love pve but hate pvp... I hate pvp when the player has no control over if or when it happens. like open-world pvp or pvpve. I play shooters all the time. Overwatch is my current fps of choice, and I used to play W:ET on PC, competitively. Playing pvp when that is the objective, isn't bad. But when it is optional and can hit at any time, regardless if you want it or not, that's when I give it a big middle finger. That is why I avoided the Dark Zone like the plague and also what killed Sea of Thieves for me. However, in heavy pve/character building games, like Destiny or The Division, that have an optional pvp component, although I don't hate this type of pvp, I rarely participate in it, vastly preferring the pve component more.

Any fellow gamers feel the same way..? Anyone waiting for reviews and/or first month of inevitable bug discovering and patching? Of course there is some kind of competition between The Division 2 and Anthem (among others) I know quite a few TD players who are being passive-agressive on the The Division forums about sending their money Anthems way instead of The Divisions2s way. I have pre-orderded both. The Division may have had a rough start but oh my is that game in good state now? Imho it sure is. Time juggling acrobatics will be in order between these games and Fallout 76 among others but it is a luxury problem I'm glad to have. I did play The Divison but found it a little soulless (and getting ganked in the Dark Zone was no fun) so I'm leaning the other way toward Anthem. The Division 2 being more of a traditional shooter, is perhaps more pew pew than Iron Man. Just a preference? I'm trying to understand but, I really can't. Soulless? I mean the story of people like Joe Ferro, Larae Barrett and Aaron Keener? Noble squad? April Kelleher? Sure Barrett is full blown psycopath but her story soulless? Well, in my mind The Division has a very clear soul, from the iconic Watch, to ISAC, to the people and their stories.

Were they characters in the game? I vaguely remember some cutscenes in which my character posed mutely and disinterestedly. 'something, something, virus, something, something...'I only got to level 25 as I could only complete missions solo due to empty servers.

Solo or not has no bearing on the story. In fact as a solo player you don't have to rush by important information. But if you feel story and character can only be told in cut-scenes well, ok, it is true that a game like the Division forces the player to piece it together themselves. But still, Aaron Keener, you missed Aaron Keener?
