January 26, 2019. Freelancer Callsign Rumbler1138-- Official Report of Field Duty
At 7:45 pm ET walked through Fort Tarsis, and was amazed at the number of stars in the night sky. It's been many years since I've seen that many stars in the sky, sometimes I forget how beautiful they are. I made my way to the Forge, and after a teasing comment tossed my way by my trusty mechanic, I climbed into my freshly painted Interceptor and headed out into the lush jungle of Bastion.
I immediately dove into the river, which was much deeper than I expected, and was swarmed by dozens if not hundreds of rather large fish. A moment's panic set in as I thought they were going to eat me, but then I realized they were harmless. Seeing no where I could explore I proceeded to exit river and make my way to The Bowl where after a 45 minute flight, I encounter approximately a dozen Scars, some of which were heavily armed. After clearing the area of the Scar threat, I proceeded north-east for fifteen minutes where I came upon an abandoned site known as The Workshop. I was not alone, however. I was met with heavy resistance by two Scar Elite Enforcers and about ten Scar Soldiers. They had turrets in place at various points, but those I destroyed with some well-placed Frost Grenades.
At approximately 8:40 pm, I entered into a small cave system that was littered with some type of bugs. They were quite harmless but annoying as they swarmed me almost constantly. I was also met with more Scar Resistance, and I rescued a band of sentinels who had been pinned down in the cavern and were prevented from leaving. There was also an injured Sentinel whom they were protecting from the Scars along with some sensitive equipment.
From there I attempted to continue heading in a north-westerly direction and, at approximately 9:00 pm I was briefly joined by some fellow Freelancers, but we got separated in a firefight and I was left to fend for myself with no ammunition and little else than my Plasma Stars. I resorted to fighting hand-to-hand against seven Scar Soldiers and two Scar Elites both armed with flame-throwers and Gatling guns and a heavy shield for defense. Yet being that I was much more agile in my Interceptor I made short work of the Elites by jumping over their heads and exposing their backs where some explosive canisters were mounted. I also rescued another band of Sentinels from two Ursix and seven Wyvern who were raining fire down upon me.
I resumed my journey, but it was getting quite late and so I decided to return to the Fort and that I would attempt to pick up where I left off tomorrow.
I want to explore as much of Bastion as possible in the short time I have here....This world is becoming more intriguing, more awe-inspiring and more beautiful every time I venture out into it. I never know what I can expect or whom I will meet up with. I know there are thousands of other Freelancers from the Fort doing the same work I am doing and it is my hope that I will cross paths with as many of them as is possible.
