Boomstick gaming has a review he's a pretty fair guy. He gave the game a 7 out of 10. Personally though, for those who still haven't bought or pre-ordered, I would suggest to wait for a discount. It seems to be on the same footing as Andromeda, when it comes to reviews. Andromeda got a nice price drop in the matter of weeks. I predict this will too. So just wait and buy it for less.

I wonder if there are platform issues here. I'm nearly done with my 10-hours on Xbox and haven't had a crash yet.
The video reported a number of issues. Other than no crashes have you experienced any of them?
Now be truthful.

Now be truthful. Not sure which video. On an Xbox One X after 9 hours. No crashes, infinite loads, sound bugs, dropped from missions, trapped in missions, rubber banding. (I had all of those things in the demos)

I had losing connection to ea servers twice when I first started but that was because I was trying to load the Xbox store up to see how much shards were. The game runs amazing. Other than the combat I think that's the only positives I have at this point.

(I had all of those things in the demos) I've had the sound bug once. My old cpu had problems with the higher graphic settings. Now I'm running on medium which looks stuning as well anyway and no probs there. I lost my secondary weapon in the launch bay once. I came back when I loaded outside though. What else? Nothing jumps out on me. Ooops, not Xbox of course.

If so, that is not F2P.

The number of people that may have bought the game is irrelevant when making this type of decisions. Look at ESO, it went from a subscription model to something similar to Anthem (B2P with MTX). How many people had paid years' worth of subscription fees?

If it went F2P there wouldn't be an initial price to play the game.

There are restrictions for players that never paid a dime for it, but they still can do all the content from the first few years of the game.

How is it any different? Isn't it also a slap to the face of subscribers when a game goes the one-time purchase route? I can see your point, but new players of these games still have to pay in order to play. Whereas if Anthem went F2P new players wouldn't have to pay anything. That's not fair. That's how Evolve died. Old players were angry that they payed 60 bucks for the game and ultimately got nothing, whereas new players got the game totally for free. ESO and other subscription games didn't go free to play. Everyone who wants to play it has to buy it. We can also see the same thing happen when games become half price within a week. People get angry. This game isn't going F2P, just like Fallout 76 will not. It would be a bad move.

Free to play won't happen in anthem as it's not viable to do so without tampering with microTs. 🤷 The game also isn't "that bad" that it needs to be F2P. I'd count on price drops but that's it.

www.techradar.com/reviews/anthemAnthem is a game of oxymorons and inconsistencies. The story is designed to be single-player but the game is clearly not. The gameplay is an absolute joy but is stifled by the repetitive nature of the end-game. The character animations are truly sublime, but most of the characters themselves are cliché and predictable. It is a fun game, and a stunningly pretty one, but with flaws in nearly every other aspect of its design. It will improve with patches, updates, and a strong community, but it isn’t a particularly strong foundation. This is less an anthem, and more an annoying earworm.... www.gamesradar.com/anthem-review-in-progress/But there's nowhere near enough of the stuff that makes BioWare games distinctly BioWare. That's the content that Anthem needs sooner rather than later because, at the moment, it's existing solely in the shadow of Destiny. Not Destiny 2, which has steadily grown and evolved with the community, mind – but the Destiny of five years ago. Anthem is designed to grow and evolve over time, but unless that happens sooner rather than later it'll be dead on arrival.
While there is still a lot left to experience in Anthem, my early experience has been mixed. Despite the outstanding combat and terrific story, this title still struggles to find its footing. Poor mission design, unoptimized menus, and some odd choices relating to multiplayer keep this title from rising above its peers. Hopefully, the end-game makes up for Anthem’s underwhelming first impression.

SWTOR did f2p wrong. People that want the full experience need to pay more and more than they used to with just a subscribtion. There is so much extra stuff locked away, like inventory size. So the real fans pay extra.

Why ? Yesterday for example i've started Jedi Under Siege... and 2h later i was done. What a disappointment... You are waiting MONTHS just to get 2h extra content.
In the same time ESO subscribers are getting DLC's, new chapters and expansion packs.
I can only hope that now, after Anthem is released, they can finally transfer more people to work on SWTOR...

Almost every content creator and streamer is shitting all over it. My biggest surprise is Mtashed, watch his latest video. After being one of the biggest supporters of the game It may be a very practical consideration. The game has improved hugely from the brutal VIP Demo, but the delight of some at seeing blood in the water is fuelling the narrative. So for a YouTuber that wants to keep their very Destiny-focused audience happy, that may be to follow the skeptical path. I'm not blaming the guy, I have no reason to believe it's simply click-baiting, but he's responding to his audience to safeguard his views. (sips energy drink)

I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. SWTOR may as well be in maintenance mode. I'm actually surprised SWTOR has limped along for as long as it has. Thank god I have ESO to keep me occupied in between SWTOR updates....
