I have no doubt, even if Anthem does poorly, EA will let BioWare finish Dragon Age but I worry about future games beyond that. I want more Mass Effect 😔 EA has cancelled Star Wars games that were far in development (1313, Viscerals, etc). Dragon Age is only in preproduction. Wont see the light of day when Anthem does poorly.

Or since EA is reactive (DAI wanted to be Skyrim, Anthem wanted to be Destiny), they will look at the current big seller - RDR2 - and tell Bioware to "make that...but with dragons". So in 6 years we might get a mediocre dragon riding simulator (they can reuse Anthem's flight), but you will have to regularly clean and feed the dragon and not do too sharp turns with it in the air or you will both crash and die. And of course Elfroot hunting up to eleven, but you need to track the best Elfroot spots and harvest it only on a certain time of the day with special custom crafted gardening tools.

It needs a lot more than that. The technical issues are a roadblock to people experiencing the more severe problems with this game. The weapons feel like garbage. The inscription system repeats most every mistake playerbases have revolted over since at least vanilla Diablo 3. These are things that were supposed to be hashed out over years of development and they are not going to be fixed in a matter of weeks or maybe even months. Such as? - Deep pool padded with useless, feel-bad crap like harvest bonus - At the mercy of pure rng with literally astronomical odds to get what you're aiming for, no general path to success - Inscription values have far too much variance - Useless perks in roll pool, such as acid damage on Storm gear Could go on, but these individually have caused entire player bases to revolt. And that's just inscriptions.

They obviously didn't really test this game very much outside of making sure it basically ran stable on their own private network with super gaming rigs. We are in the Launch Stage of the Beta Program right now.

Better to experiment more than a couple of days before writing something off. I can see a use for maximising harvest just as with the luck perk. If indeed storm has no acid gear such a perk should be removed.

We are in the Launch Stage of the Beta Program right now. I played the closed beta and the private demo and didn't have any major bugs or issues. That being said I'm not planning on buying the game as it's not really the sort of game I want.

They claim to have examined similar games such as Diablo 3, but I don't see how that could possibly be the case given the system (or lack thereof) they landed upon.

I don't understand how a game with years in development can launch with a system like this.

Is anyone else surprised that Anthem's getting a lot of grief for loading times? On my rig -- which isn't all that great -- it loads badly, sure, but so did DAI and ME:A.

None too surprised. After seeing the quality of the demo, I saw this coming. People will still enjoy the game, but it's definitely gonna take a hit in sales; as well as one to Bio's reputation.
Its gonna take a lot for them to rebuild that back; assuming they can.

I think the loading times are made worse by the player's internet connection. Also, it's worth remembering there is the infinite load bug that keeps rearing its head, which won't help with loading time perception.

Try again I have no problem with reviews like the one from arekkz. Arekkz is a shill. He has been hyping Anthem for months, making videos about Anthem, posting gameplay straight from Bioware devs streaming sessions into his youtube channel, getting his views and cashing in. He has a vested interest in Anthem being successful. There is nothing wrong in doing what he does, I would for sure do the same were I in his position. But the point is: Arekkz is not a reviewer, and he is not a source of unbiased opinion.

Is anyone else surprised that Anthem's getting a lot of grief for loading times? On my rig -- which isn't all that great -- it loads badly, sure, but so did DAI and ME:A. But Anthem's loading times are longer and always the same length, not to mention you stumble through them very very regularly. In DAI and MEA I had one longer loading screen and that was it. The games used the RAM buffer way better and any further loading was fast. I could even exit the game, do something else (32 GB RAM), start the game again and the previous long loading was 2x faster as long as the buffer didn't clear the data. Anthem on my SSD takes longer to load than MEA did on my HDD. And MEA needs to load longer just at the start. Everything else in MEA afterwards loads super fast, almost instsntly for me, so I got a mod that reduces almost entirely the landing/departure cutscenes. No comparison. Can't talk about consoles.

Massive found this out the hard way with The Division Day 60 is still act one right? I think it would be good to have a really large contingency of players just hash out what works and what don't before we throw the baby out with bathwater.

And the MP modes in the other games didn't have the same load problem? Wouldn't know, didn't try either in MP. You load in once usually in other MP. Not multiple times during a session. The tethering compounds it. And the little sub-dungeons. But the tethering is like real stupid.
