No, not Oghran, definitely not Oghran. My heart sank when he turned up in DAA and he waved enthusiastically as though we had been great buddies. I tolerated him in DAO but that is all; ditto DAA until I found Sigrun and used her to replace him. Yes, I know that technically she is a rogue and he is a warrior but she was a Legionnaire Scout so as far as I was concerned she covered both bases. Now I'd be happy to see her again. In fact, if there has to be just one dwarf returning character I would rather it was Sigrun.

Oghren not Oghran is also not a big favourite of mine. I also have wondered why he all of the people had returned in Awakening but nowadays i unterstand Bioware´s decision here. They needed someone from the DAO party as returning companion and there weren´t that many option because of the Quantum character nature of the cast. Sure Oghren can also be killed in DAO but that´s pretty hard and therefore optional. Also maybe Bioware have thought that Oghren should get more screentime because he was in most playthroughs the last companion who had been recruited and he hadn´t differ that much gameplaywise than Sten. Well isn´t she not already long dead at 9:52? I think her return moment should have been the Descent DLC but it wasn´t.

No love and/or hate for Hawke? It's almost like he never even existed.... I love Hawke but really think we've seen the last of them.

Well isn´t she not already long dead at 9:52? She is a quantum character so she could be dead, which is why I suppose we didn't see her in the Descent. However, you have reminded me that actually the dwarf I expect to see in DA:D is Valta. If she doesn't crop up somewhere along the way, and I'm hoping it will be in Kal-Sharok or the Deep Roads near there, I shall be very disappointed. After all, what was the point of the Descent and having it end the way it did with her if she isn't going to play some part going forward? In fact I can see her involvement being linked to those strange pools from Horror of Hormack. So if we don't get the plot hook to investigate them from a Grey Warden, it might be from Valta, or a combination of the two. So the progression would be from Weisshaupt to Kal-Sharok to the Deep Roads, where Valta will be our guide.

Since we're going to Tevinter, Antiva and Nevarra (I think?). I would only like to see characters that belong in those areas.
Tevinter Dorian - Makes sense since he's a magister now. Iron Bull - Maybe? If he's in a romance with Dorian if not then he can stay away. Sten - Since he's the new Arishok, plus I'm hopeful that DA:DW will let us go to Seheron at the very least (Although I would like to see Par Vollen too). You know before I knew about the comics I would've said that Fenris returning for Tevinter would've been nice but now not so much anymore.
Antiva Zevran - Appearing here wouldn't be bad since he's been offing members of the Antivan Crows.
As for Nevarra, Cassandra I guess but iirc she said that she hasn't gone to Nevarra for a while.
Now as to the OP's question Almost everyone from the previous games, novels and comics but the ones that really come at the top of my mind are:
1. Alistair: He's had 1 full game and 3 cameos + a comic series. No more of him, please Bioware. 2. Leliana: Same as Alistair but since she can become Divine I wouldn't be against a minor role or a cameo for Divine Victoria as long as it make sense storywise (and this applies to all three Vics). 3. Varric: I love, love Varric but DA:I in my opinion did everything that could be done with him. 4. Morrigan: To a lesser extent of Leliana, again since the issue of who drank the Well of Sorrows could have some story implications but personally I just want Morrigan to be with my Warden & Kieran and away from DW's plot.
In the end I just want new cast of characters not just for the companions but for npcs as well, the world if you will.

Iron Bull - Maybe? If he's in a romance with Dorian if not then he can stay away. I think that we can rule The Iron Bull out because that his voice actor aka Freddie Prinze Jr. won´t return and i doubt that Bioware will recast him. Also if the players doesn´t save the Bull´s Charger´s well he is dead. Varric, because if we see him he's going to die. Mark my words. He's not going to survive 3 games lol This would pretty lame and uncool. Ok from a writer point of view a Varric deathscene would an emotional "highlight" of a DA game but they should have done this in DAI. A Varric death in DAD would therefore be unnecessary and too much drama because Varric story is done. Also for new players you have to give Varric some screentime to give the death more impact.
It´s pretty hard to say this as a huge Varric fan but i really don´t want him to appear in any form in DAD.

Leliana: Same as Alistair but since she can become Divine I wouldn't be against a minor role or a cameo for Divine Victoria as long as it make sense storywise (and this applies to all three Vics). I doubt we will be having cameos for Divine Victoria as a character simply because it would involve them paying 3 different VAs to come back in to do the lines and, to my mind, this wouldn't be worth it unless it was going to have real significance to driving the story (or the VA was voicing other minor parts as well so it was part of their overall contribution). Divine Victoria is based in the south and would definitely have no business being in Tevinter. In fact it would be highly risky considering that is where her rival, the Black Divine, holds power and isn't above doing a bit of assassination (as mentioned by Dorian at the Winter Palace). So I think any mention of the southern Divine is going to be via codices or conversations. There was some suggestion at the end of Trespasser that the Qun were trying to persuade the Divine to take sides with them against Tevinter (if you had previously worked with them) but as yet she had made no decision on the matter. I expect them to leave it that way but it is possible that there could be a sub-plot connected with this. If so, it wouldn't make sense for the Divine to be conducting negotiations herself but instead send a representative. In fact that could be a reason for them bringing back Josephine as the Divine's diplomatic representative, particularly as Antiva is closer to Par Vollen and is apparently under threat from the rogue Antaam. As for the individuals who could be Divine, the only one who should be seen again, if at all, is Cassandra. This is because if she was told to rebuild the Seekers (and even if not could have decided this for herself later) she is seen training with them up in the Hunterhorn Mountains, whether Divine or not. This is very close to other locations, Kal-Sharok and the Anderfels, that do seem to have been featured in the concept art, so it wouldn't be completely illogical to meet up with her. Leliana was meant to have handed over her role as spy master to Charter and Harding, whether made Divine or not, and if not made Divine and a lyrium spirit, she departed the world in Trespasser, so we definitely shouldn't expect to see her again. Vivienne is much too busy playing politics in the south, whether Divine or not, so again I would not expect to see her up north.

To a lesser extent there is the fact with the Divine´s charactermodels. Of course Bioware can swap their faces and keep the overall body but i think we can all agree that we don´t know that bad designed Victoria with the basic editor. I agree and also think that the screentime of the Victorias in Trespasser was more than enough. So no need for an forced cameo. I don´t know if Non Divine Cassandra would be a good idea. You can make the argument why not also Divine Cassandra then they already have the VA and charactermodel for normal Cassandra done?
By the way i highly doubt that we will see that many former companions in DAD again if we compare it with the previous games.
In DA 2 we only have the returning Anders + Justice from the Awakening Addon and cameos for Alistair, Leliana and Zevran. For DAI Leliana plays as an advisor a major role in the game and Morrigan & Alistair or Loghain have somewhat important roles as suppporting NPCs. And Varric is the only DA 2 companion who makes an appearance. So in DAD case it´s pretty likely that Solas, Dorian, Sten / Arishok and unfortunately Varric are returning. Plus of course the returning secondary characters. There isn´t that much room for more. Maybe Morrigan, Shale, Fenris, Isabela, Tallis (does she count even as a DLC companion?) or Sera can also have a chance for a return but that´s it.

I want an entirely new cast and no return of any of the old characters. Not because I don't like any of them but those cameos and returns never work all that well in games my opinion. Hawke, Loghain, Morrigan and Leliana making their appearance in Inquisition was just...''eh?''. They just felt weird and ''tacked on''.
Instead of making old characters return give the new characters more dialogue an flesh them out some more. Spend the resources on the new stuff.

I want an entirely new cast and no return of any of the old characters. Well for obvious reasons this won´t happen. Atleast Solas will return as the big Dreadwolf and personally i would be shocked if Sten as new Arishock, Dorian and yes even Fenris isn´t in DAD. Also i don´t mind to see more about minor characters which hadn´t that much to do in previous games. Hawke, Loghain and Leliana i could understand some of the criticism but i must ask what was so wrong about Morrigan? I can´t say i agree or disagree here. It really depends on the character. Some aren´t necessary for sure but just to create a new character for the sake of creating something new should also not be the solution if Bioware already had a similiar character in series which they barely have used.

Well you very likely get your wish.
Claudia Black SEP ONLY 1 ACCOUNT @theclaudiablack I have two big things coming out - one in December/January and one probably late 2023 that I just finished filming and I can’t talk about either of them. They’re juicy.
Amy Evans @amypisces Two things coming? *prays for the new Dragon Age to be one of them but knows we can’t find out until we play the game*
