I don't doubt Schreier is telling the truth, I had a feeling this might have been the case that Andromeda's issues where not limited to just Andromeda. But I have to agree that throwing gasoline onto the fire with a divisive response that might be interpreted by some as blame or throwing specific employees under the bus isn't what is needed from leadership at this point--especially if company culture and morale is as poor as it is. Actions speak louder than words, and that's really what is needed, implementing the changes necessary to turn things around and keep their current projects on track. The best response is always no response. And then release a kick-ass update with necessary updates and requested features.

Such a bad answer from BioWare. Total silence would be better. They really are damaging themselves from one side and from the other how come bioware and their games becomes a heated debate always? Mediocre games come everyday, Crunch times are in all studios. God of war, RDR2 to name a few, but no one cared because these games were received extremely well.. You see the industry have double standards

Mediocre games come everyday, Crunch times are in all studios. God of war, RDR2 to name a few, but no one cared because these games were received extremely well.. You see the industry have double standards Crunch time is always, always bad, and I hate the thought that someone worked to bring me a product that I enjoyed and paid with their time and sanity for it. But I also feel that there's something especially awful about a crunch time that was not caused by a huge ambitious project not meeting a deadline but by an inept management that basically just faffed about for five years without any vision or direction, and then finally ends in a disastrous release. Because that robs the developers of the satisfaction of having produced something worthwhile, as small of a consolation that may be. Of course, on the other hand, if crunch time results in a great and successful product, it will be extremely likely to happen again with their next project because hey, it worked last time, right? "BioWare magic". Crunch time sucks.

Yeah I would imagine BW is getting used to it by now. After the last two games and the PR hell that came with them, definitely.

You see the industry have double standards You have the answer to this, in same article ( some people at BW wanted Inquisition to "fail", so they would start changing their practices): it only becomes an issue, when it leads to failure like this. People don't question success.
Seems Frostbite was catalyst for all internal/leadership problems Bioware's been having for a long time.
Extremely difficult engine to work with ( that results in ton of ideas constantly being scrapped for being too difficult/time consuming to implement) and "by the committee" approach to design..and well, it's no real surprise, they end up with 3/4 of game development running around in circles getting almost nothing done.
Bioware looks like more extreme example of what lot of AAA studios are going through. ( I remember rras here, having knee jerk reactions to CDPR crunch)
Ubisoft seems like the most pleasant studio to work in: they seem to have no problem with design direction. Hell, they make one type of game and then just re-release it for the next ten years.

Still Mass effect for its time was great looking. I always liked unreal engine and still do in this gen. Frostbyte does look beautiful but its Crap. Imagine bioware LEAving frostbite how much pressure would be released. F^%$ frostbyte

Part of me feels carthartic from seeing so many lambast BioWare. I must be truly evil Really, it's infuriating that it took this, almost screaming at BioWare, EA and their management, and only after a cowardly response we got some acknowledgement from Casey and others on Twitter that they know they've not done the right things here. ...and the sad thing is, their dismissive, defensive attitude about their workers is virtually the same as their defensivism towards the ME3 controversy and similar to the way Patrick Söderlund and Mark Darrah protected Andromeda, and Darrah even tried blameshifting the cause of Andromeda's bad reception. I don't think it's because they're bad people. An image has been emerging for me. EA hates controversy, and they knee-jerk to "reputation-damage" by trying to cut off the limb that has been injured. If BioWare concedes to core issues, it moves them closer to EA's chopping block, which in turn gives BioWare management a desperate, cowardly public persona because it's do or die for the studio. At this point, I almost have no desire to see them pull out. EA has done so much cultural damage to BioWare in the way BioWare manages their own company that it has hurt people, and there's almost nothing left, either about their results or their company that makes me feel good anymore. Let them die, or make some miraculous comeback and fuck EA.
