Well, there are a fair number of magic items which require the Brand. Plus some dialogue paths, although you may not want to take them.

I decided not to blow the place up after all. Maybe it can someday be restored, and it's not like you don't get to kill enough githyanki on the other path.
That wrapped Act 1. Went through the Mountain Pass, and got as far as the Inn.
Had fun with the caravan "guide." Sanctuary doesn't protect you from Spirit Guardians, dude.

Killed off the last of the goblins. The last one alive got to the drums and started beating them for help - which never came. Then it's back to the grove for tea and crumpets. And hearing Halsin berate Kagha and hearing her grovel. Then it's party time followed by an intimate talk. Just talking but very intimate. Followed by a chat with Volo, who had a plan. And then lost it and used a freaking ICE PICK

Just set a personal record here. Fighting Marcus at the Last Light Inn , I had Gale unleash a full salvo of Scorching rays, 5 shots at 50%. 5 misses, including three critical misses. Edit: no actual harm done, fortunately. On her next turn, Karlach laid some serious hurt on him, and then pushed him out of my cleric's Spirit Guardian radius. He ran back into the radius, blew his save, and died without anyone touching him again. I've read that the meta is that Bless is better than SG for your concentration slot, but I find SG a lot more entertaining.

Still messing around...Being able to tilt the camera up is such a boon in this game. Now I'm just gawking like a tourist. I brought Karlach with me to the Underdark this time. I spec'd her a Bearheart Barbarian / Open-Hand Monk / Thief-Rogue multiclass which proved to be... quite effective. I also "rescued" Dhourn for the first time (I'm not sure when he was switched in and the previous Drow leader was switched out) and viewed the memory shard.

Why on earth didn't the camera always work like that? It isn't like, say, the NWN games, where everything looks fake when you can look up.

I see it. Pretty common design, now that I think about it. All the mountains and fog in Skyrim help to cover up that the place is only five miles wide or so.

I think it's also the tactical roots of the game. Seeing everything from the overhead view as part of the tactical landscape.
When you use that mod can you still zoom out to the overhead view?

Didn't do much today. Went out to traverse the Mountain Pass and cam e across the Githyanki. I understand some people have a fight here, but every time I've done it I've let Lae'zel do the talking and Persuaded her not to give the game away. Still, cool visual. After which I clicked on the Mountain Pass and was instantly transported back to camp so that Dream Visitor could tell me to use the tadpoles. I obviously hadn't rested enough earlier, so it forced the scene on me before the revelations at the Monastery. After which I ate a tadpole and Persuaded Lae'zel and Karlach to do the same. Astarion needed no Persuading.

Still puttering around in the Underdark. Oof... I see they hit the Chest of the Mundane with a weighty nerf stick. 200 lbs.(I thought it was pretty hefty at 40 lbs.)

Just got to the "duel" with Lae'zel. Are we supposed to enter turn-based mode manually for that, or did it just glitch out on me? Worked out OK anyhow, since I never had to take an action. No vid, but check out the combat log: Good thing I had her carrying all the bombs, and that there was something between us.

Stomped our way through Grymforge today. I don't think there was anything new since I last went through it at launch. Still fun stealing the runepowder barrel out from under Philomeen's nose... Once again - Larian did an excellent job on the mimics. Even during EA, we'd always blitz Nere at the outset of the fight. I don't think he's ever survived long enough to show us what he can do. The Forge Guardian we have down to a science now. After that, it was just a little tidying up, then backtracking to the Mountain Pass. Having only been through here during my 1 full PT, there's still some lingering unfamiliarity with this region.

Running around in the Shadow-Cursed lands. Feel like a real douchebag for using the Moonlantern, but I still haven't seen a reason my PC could dare to give it up.

Another personal record: managed to score four simultaneous Inspirations: (yeah, I know this isn't all that impressive) Killed Malus Thorm via dialogue. Three for Lae'zel; one for killing all the loose Thorms, one for killing one without fighting, and one for killing Malus without him getting to do anything to us. Plus one for Shadowheart for good religious knowledge. Clerics actually do pretty well at the dialogue stuff, particularly if you have the INT headband. No actual point for getting that many Inspirations at once, of course. But everyone made L8, so what the hell.

Pretty busy tonight, just made my way down and put a toe inside the monastery. Oh yeah... the Gremishkas. I remember you guys. In my first PT, I did everything wrong in trying to handle these guys. I was a little smarter this time around.

Clerics actually do pretty well at the dialogue stuff, particularly if you have the INT headband. I don't think I ever had a character fail a Arcana/History checks (those without the dice roll UI) while wearing the INT headband. And those characters didn't even have the proficiencies for those skills either.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but isn't there a major plothole when talking to Florrick in Act 2? Unless there are two guys named Gortash kicking around, I've got a letter in my pack which implicates Gortash in the Grand Duke's kidnapping. But there's no option to mention it to her.
It's not actually a problem for this run; since I didn't remember it myself until Florrick departed, my PC didn't either. But the name should ring a bell for some PCs, shouldn't it?
