Also, I asked a similar question in the Isabela thread, but does anyone have a favorite class to romance Sera with? I really liked her with my tanky 2H warrior and my Rift Mage, but I also romanced her with a DW rogue. I really enjoy romancing her with a Qunari 2H Champion. Considering rolling a Dwarf for Sera at some point, not sure what class though?

So much variety! I love it.
I sit around and fret over my canon run waaaay too much, which is why I'm asking. As a warrior I have better synergy with my preferred party and there are fewer plot holes. Better armor. I look like I can hold my tiny gf in the air with one hand and probably launch her into space. Not knowing a whole lot about magic makes Inky's relationship with the Anchor interesting. Decked out head to toe in gleaming armor, my qunari tank looked like a house could fall on top of her and she'd be fine.
Rift Mage gives me some kind of connection to Solas and more tension with Sera (...I romanced Fenris with a mage, I like tension!). Easier to justify IHW. Extra tension with the Viddasala and, oh, all of Orlais. Knowing a thing or two about magic makes Inky's relationship with the Anchor interesting. Losing a limb isn't quite as devastating when you can kill people with your brain. But it also puts a kink in my fave party composition and means I have to figure out how and where and with whom this seven-foot-tall lady managed to master her magic.
UGH DECISIONS.

Yeah I kind of like my Rift Mage canon but she works well with a warrior too. I wouldn't personally romance her with a rogue, though I suppose you could headcanon them as swapping hints and tips or practicing together... Personally, I have an intense fear of having two rogues in a party. Too squishy for my comfort

I would like to have one character, but I always wrestle with myself over which one character I would like to have.

Dual-dagger-wielders do need babysitting, though...

....that kind of talk is all too technical for me. In plainer English, when building a sword and shield warrior, prioritise things that increase their defense and draw enemies' attention, be that when levelling up or in the armour and weapons you give them. With rogues, prioritise damage output and diminishing the attention from enemies. The idea is to have enemies bashing at your tank's impenetrable defences while your archer rogues pick them off from afar. Dual-wield rogues are different because they get into the thick of the action and tend to get caught up in stuff like a bear's roar or a two-handed warrior's sword sweep, so you need to control them more carefully or they die.

Alright, is it just me or does Sera remind anyone of Amethyst from Steve Universe. Their both childish, crass, violent, insecure, dickish at times, humorous, hedonistic, not exactly bright and have horrible self-esteem because cultural views what their supposed to be.

Well it would be nice if Sera is capable of martial arts like Harley Quinn from Arkham Knight and it matches her personality perfectly because Sera is playful but they can add some deadly twists.

Huh, had not thought of it that way. *scratches head* That's a tough one to say. I'm tempted to say yes because I can see where you're coming from. They're both non-conformist, free spirited and have YMMV personalities. They do face pressure from their heritage and have developed into their own identity. They seem confident, but have a lot of pain from the past. I don't think either are stupid though. They have an insight into things that people who overthink tend to miss. Their perspective is incredibly helpful though it tends to come wrapped up in a cheeky sense of humor. One difference that stands out is that Amethyst seems mostly laid back while Sera gives me a sense that she carries an undertone of anxiety about the world around her. It's understandable since Sera lives in a far more dangerous world.

I don't know anything about Steven Universe except that there are gem people and its really popular on tumblr, so... dunno. Been going back through a lot of ME:A character and speculation threads and man it's exhausting how often Sera's name is brought up in discussions about a game that has nothing to do with her. And it's usually negative commentary, of course.

Just popped in to say that I'm replaying Hushed Whispers at present and I've taken Sera with me for what I believe is the first time or if I took her before I didn't hear what she was saying in the cells because my ears were gummed up at the time so I was a bit deaf. Anyway, this time round I could her what she was saying as I approached her cell and I realised that she is comforting herself by trying to remember the Denerim lullaby "Where the Willows Wail". My heart went out to her because she was obviously harking back to when she was a small child but also because it may have been something her real mother sang to her. I still wonder what happened there. Before seeing the entry in WoT2 about Sera, I thought that perhaps she had lost her mother in the Battle of Denerim but that would have made her only mid-teens in DAI, so must have happened to her before that.
The other thing that occurred to me was that it is rather ironic that Sera should have chosen to sing that song to herself, considering its origins lie with the ancient elves. I hope no one tells her of the connection or that would be another childhood memory ruined.

I sometimes have a party of two mages and two warriors, but Varric changed all of that... He became a god in my game at one point - he literally had the capability to murder dragons on the bases of having a super-powered upgraded Bianca. Cole died so easily, I don't often bring him with me unless I need some of his amazing insight... Sera died... I mean, I never got too far with her. And yes, she was a duel-wielding rogue. I don't often bring her with me when I go kill Cory.
So yeah, I understand. Having two rogues in the same party would usually be considered a death sentence to most of my playthroughs... even when I'm playing warriors... *quishiness is overwhelming*.

I don't disagree with the ones who are concerned with some aspects of her, but I see a fan thread as the one place fans of a character can get away from the crap. It's not too much to ask that this one place be respected when there's a ton of other places to vent.

And the toxic racism isn't present with Amethyst. I also got the impression that Sera was intentionally trying to get under people's skin during her banter with Varric where she got annoyed that he agreed with her that dwarves are weird. Amethyst for the most part isn't trying to piss people off, she only pisses Pearl off because Pearl is uptight. If you'd like, we can discuss this in a PM. I get where you're coming from, but I'm worried this might be a bit stressful to the fans here.

I'd just crawled in from the Peebee thread and was a bit flabbergasted at how much that character was getting preemptively blasted for being too much like Sera.

The fear in her voice when she thinks you've come back from the dead, the grief when she says she ran out of arrows making them pay, and the steely determination to see things through to the end, watching her body fall to the ground after she gave her all to protect you and make things right again... ow. My child. I'm pretty sure that's when my Inquisitor started to fall irrevocably in love.

The Sera/PeeBee comparisons are such facile reductionist nonsense. For a start, we don't know anywhere near enough about PeeBee to be able to compare her to anyone, but even the superficial similarities don't hold up well to scrutiny. Yes they are both supposedly jokers and not everyone will get on with them, but beyond that? Being different from others of their race doesn't imply similarity when DA elves and Asari are absolutely nothing alike. Maybe if we were talking about the ancient elves... Sera's a city girl who wants the world to get back to "normal", hates wandering in the countryside and finds ruins boring, while PeeBee's core motivation seems to be exploration and experiencing the thrill of the new.
They seem similar in the way that grapes and beans seem similar...
