I don't think DA4 will be released

Wow, so we aren't even waiting for games to be announced to launch into doom-and-gloom mode anymore.

I always wonder what people who think that DA4 isn't going ahead imagine Mark Darrah, Mike Laidlaw, Patrick Weekes et. al. do all day long. They cannot fill all of their time by drinking coffee and trolling us on Twitter (as hard as they might try sometimes.)

It is certainly possible that DA4 will never be released, because no game is a dead certainty before it's gone gold, but if that should come to pass it won't be because it was never planned and developed. They still have spin-off products coming out, which would be pretty pointless if the IP were dead, and EA are still paying the DA team to Do Things. Ergo, they are Doing Things.

It wouldn't make sense to try to make pr and excite fans about Dragon Age now. The current project is ME:I! That is in the spotlight and I already got my preorder fixed.

I don't work with marketing, haven't taken a single credit of economics or market-stuff in college and I wouldn't start drumming up hype for DA now. You would spend money on diverting attention away from your own product. I just don't see how I could sell that to the people who would have to "ok" that money to be spent for marketing.

A: "Yes, we want everyone to be excited about ME:I, get that preorder and tell their friends too".
B: "How about a trailer for DA"
A: "We don't have a product yet, what would we show"
B: "We could tell people it is coming later perhaps?"
A: "Or we could tell them that ME:I is coming now, please go buy it?"
B: "It could be a nice gesture maybe?"
A: " We are selling ME:I now, so we are marketing ME:I now, we're clear on that"
B: "But.."
A: "I think the copying machine has a paper stuck, can you perhaps help out with that. Meanwhile I would like everyone to look at the latest figures from...."

I would not want to be the person to pitch that at least.

In any case, given Flynn's statement of handling the situation of MEA badly by announcing it a lot before then they were willing to show it, it's likely they'll keep it undercover for as long as they can this time.

It's been 2 years and we've not even heard of a mention (AFAIK) of a next title in the Dragon Age series... Especially after the very riveting Trespasser DLC I want more Dragon Age. Why hasn't an announcement been made yet? I know Mass Effect is coming, but I just want an announcement...that's all... I can only imagine the potential for Dragon Age without old gen console limitations, it would be glorious. I'm sure posts like this have been made, but it's therapy for me to vent on here    ... Is the series in jeopardy? Did EA lie about how well Inquisition did? What are your thoughts.

There was a huge investment moving over to Frostbite, that's not going to be spent only on one game.

^ All that. I'd find it especially baffling if they began talking about DA now, when Bioware is at the cusp of releasing MEA and marketing machine for it is gaining in momentum.

Hey, I'm basically on the constant hunt for every possible scrap of information So I share your pain. But while *we* might be able to pay attention to two BW projects at once, most of player base won't. Ironically we may not have much info on products due to information overload; there are just so many games and projects on the market that we can't possibly pay attention to all of them at all times - and especially not your regular player who may or may not have favorite dev studios or franchises.
