My function keys are disabled, and apparently this can only be fixed in BIOS.
Without the function keys, BIOS can't be accessed by the normal methods.
There is supposed to be a way to do it from Windows 10, but all the instructions I've found do not describe the operating system I have. I'm supposed to go into settings and select "Security and Updates," but that setting doesn't exist. Searching for it in Windows Settings produces no results.
Trying the "Shift Restart" method also doesn't work (I assume because the function keys are disabled, but I don't know why.)
After several hours, I've accepted that I'm not going to find any instructions that work. I'm guessing there's an emergency backdoor for situations like mine, and I'm wondering if any tech people know a way to force boot the BIOS startup menu that work when everything else is disabled.
EDIT: One method did end up working - Holding down "Shift" while clicking "Restart" but with the additional info "Keep holding down Shift until Advanced Boot Menu Option appears."

What motherboard do you have?

What motherboard do you have? I figured out a way, or rather I figured out that the "hold shift while clicking recovery" instruction means "keep holding it until the menu appears." Once I re-enabled the function keys, the other methods worked again (but of course I no longer needed them.) I've definitely become convinced it is the manufacturer (in this case, Lenovo) who configured their version of windows 10 in such a way that made the normal methods of accessing it impossible. I have thoughts as to why that possibly is, but after hours of beating my head against a keyboard, and finally getting it to work, I've decided to just to try to relax and play Vampire Bloodlines now that I can actually switch melee weapons properly. It's not considered crass to start drinking it 8:30 a.m., is it? O.o I can set my computer to any timezone I like now that I have access to the BIOS, so...

This was an interesting quick read.
I am curious how you had your F keys locked in the first place, and concerned by Lenovo making it troublesome to get into BIOS. Microsoft has long been jealous of Apple's walled ecosystem, and it seems with TPM and Win 11 they are trying to hide functionality from us.
Windows 10 is my last Windows distro. No need for it anymore, Linux is fine for daily driving, plays games well and Wine exists for Windows-specific apps. They don't realize it, but they are committing suicide.

normally spamming delete or f2 is how you get into bios menu during the boot sequence, hitting restart "shouldn't" take you into the full bios boot sequence it should start everything after post has been completed and the OS is loading.... as to why they messed with it, theres a lot of possibilities, stupid corporate template build for the bios being the most likely, but other reasons like it being a quick fix to work around vulnerabilities by cobbling together a generic bios instead of a device specific one (certain companies have been called out of that in years gone by) either way you should look into it by asking someone at Lenovo C.S. just to be safe would suck to waste all that cash on a machine just for it to get hijacked as part of a botnet...
