When do you think we will see the romance option?

On companions it will be when they start to market the game and BioWare has learned and stopped doing a lot of it aside from teases until closer to launch so people don't think it is a promise that is what is in the game. As far as romances go I don't really recall too much marketing based around it, so you would need to search it out after launch when people start finding it on their own. They might give hints about one or two, but the majority isn't there.

If it's anything like Mass Effect Andromeda, we won't know anything concrete about the romances until the release/very close to release. Probably for the best, even if romances are very important to my enjoyment of Dragon Age, it feels cheap and awkward to use that feature as a selling point, when characters, story and gameplay especially are so much more important.

I would like to know whether they are going for '' everyone is bisexual '' route like in DA2 though, or stick with DA:I style distribution of romances. I cannot WAIT for the MESS that will ensue if they are going for the DA:I route. 

Hard to say since they’ve done it differently with each DA game.

In DAO they were revealed in the character trailers.
In DA2 they were all revealed in a Valentine’s Day blog post.
In DAI they were revealed differently, like Sera was revealed as lesbian at a cosplay thing when she kissed another lady, Josephine was announced in a dev podcast before we even knew her name, Dorian I think was revealed when he was announced, etc.

Get a " target" announcement from EA of approximate release date (i.e., Fall 2023 LOL, or Winter 2024 etc.)

I don't know about when we'll see the romances, other than 'some time after we get a proper gameplay trailer', but I liked how they announced all the romances at once on Valentine's Day for da2, rather than stringing them out. Even if they don't do them all at once it would be good if they are consistent about it, eg. if one character gets whether they are a romance or not confirmed in a character trailer then do the same for the others.

No thanks. Don’t want to be trapped in a romance that has things I don’t want or learning they aren’t an option so having to backtrack dozens of hours.
Not that it matters since even if they never say anything it’ll be out there before the game released due to datamining. That’s what happened with MEA.

i like to know which characters are romanceable. Regardless of whether I want to do a romance and don't want to waste time on an unromancable character and miss out on the opportunity to romance a different one, or whether I want to tell a unrequited love story and go for a character who I know won't return my characters feelings. I prefer to know.

My only wish for romances is that they will not repeat the Alistair route. I'll just be nice and polite to him and bangarang, here's a rose.

I had a similar problem with Merrill. I just complimented her on her eyes and then four years later (in Act 3) she turns up on my doorstep thinking we are an item. Okay, I know I clicked on the heart icon in Act 1 but by Act 3 I was in a relationship with Fenris that had just been restored after a break, so you'd think she would have noticed. To be honest I think this was a bug. Purely for research purposes, I kept the relationship going with Merrill (I had a saved game immediately prior in case it didn't work out) and ended up Fenris declaring his devotion just before the final battle, yet Merrill being named as my romance by Varric in the epilogue, so effectively I had done what should have been impossible and ended up in a relationship with both at the same time.

However, with regard to Alistair, whilst the rose can seem annoying, it is possible to let him down gently without affecting your status with him and it was nice to occasionally have the other person make the first move. I also preferred the DAO path where they divided up the general conversations from the romance ones, so I wasn't constantly presented with the dilemma of whether to take the heart icon and risk missing out on other dialogue. Mind you, it did work out as appropriate role play with Solas. He said something that gave me pause and I wanted to question him but there was that heart icon distracting me. I figured he was deliberately giving off subtle hints because he could see my reaction and wanted to avoid further questions, the devious Wolf.

Oof, Merrill. At least you can let her down gently. In Origins, the approval system was getting to me in one playthrough since I tried not to use the Feastday Gifts and just rely on actions and conversations and game gifts. Well, I remember persisting through the Redcliffe, Mage Tower and Sacred Urn quests and Sten still wasn't telling me about his missing sword. I gave up and showered them all with the +50 gifts.

Incidentally, in my current playthrough I'm playing as a female Cousland and Morrigan was suddenly all flirty with me. Thus far Alistair, Leliana and Zevran have made passes at my character. Now Morrigan too?

The trick is to get rejected in real life a lot so that if fictional characters turn you down, you can easily shrug it off. Like shrapnel.
