Steam's Summer Changes - Any Way To Get It To Go Back To Staying Minimized When Games Launch?

Don't know if anyone will know what I'm talking about, but since earlier in the summer, Steam's basic settings have been dramatically changed, and it is now very hard to launch games offline without Steam launching into full screen mode and sucking up half the memory.

I was just curious if anyone knew a workaround to get it to launch like it used to, in a minimized state.

Edit: After some searching I found a workaround online. If anyone else runs into this issue, selecting "View - Small Size" then immediately going back in and selecting "View - Large Size" will allow you to click the "X" to minimize everything normally. I don't know if this will stick, or if I'll have to do it every time, but it's working so far, and games will actually launch.
