Tried the third race but that was a disaster so thought I'd give the Melee Pits another go. Managed to get the second mark from the Bulwark pit and do the first 2 challenges at Thornmarsh. Still working on the last two.

Still working on the last two. I did the Arena yesterday at the grove after doing the quest to get the parts, I just find it too boring TBH and the horse racing just stresses me out. As for Machine Strike I don't play games within games, I don't even like playing them in RL so a big pass for me.

Gaah! I just need one more challenge to get the final Pit Master and then the Enduring....Energy Surge Chain is kicking my ass, and the messed up controls and wrong instructions don't help!

So started the day yesterday in Landfall with Alva to get the Leviathan Data. The climb was great for about the first third but then there is this: Anxiety triggered. Missed a few jumps due to my hands shaking after this part and died. I think I must just be unlucky but the game always changes to night as I start the climb or does it do that for everybody? See Day at the start. View from the top: Next on to Kotallo's Arm quest Then the start of Gemini, so much talking before and after this quest, all good but two cups of coffee later. The Joy The Shock The Sadness Then cleaned up the last few "?" and explored the base more than last time, found Beta's little hidey hole and a few other boring places. Then off to fight Regalla. Hi Ho Silver away. Last time I speared her with the Spike Thrower, this time I froze her with the Bolt Blaster. Let her live to get the armour this time instead of her bow. Then beers with Erend Then the final debrief before the end which I will do today. Not sure if I will do Burning Shores again, probably if not today later as with cleaning up a lot of side quests.

I am not sure if something changed after the last Patch but the Glider Controls for me have reversed ("A" and "D") and the Sunwing controls are randomly not working during flight in particular "D" to turn right. I suck at melee combat I am sure I'd be terrible at the top levels of the Arena.

I did all of the Relic's except Landfall and the one with the jump manoeuvre I just could not execute last time.

The Arena is where you fight machines - it was pretty easy on Story mode, but cost a lot of shards since you have to pay to enter each match. Most of the time limits are pretty generous for that level.
The Melee Pit challenges have very little to do with melee fighting - you have to execute the combos listed and since the controls are so twitchy, any microsecond off and you fail. If you want a taste, do some of the tutorials for the different moves. The actual fights against the Pit Masters are easy in comparison because you just have to beat them, it doesn't matter how.

Yeah I won't be doing the Melee pits. The Arena is too boring, I fight enough machines in the wild but yeah I think the first one I did was over in 9 seconds and the time limit was 5 minutes. The last one was actually a bit more challenging I think it changed the weaknesses on my armour and gave me different weapons and without rushing still did it in one minute something. Think it had a 3 minute limit but I faffed around trying the different weapons.

The first and only one I did was pretty chaotic with riders shooting at you, crashing into you etc. and all the while you are trying to go as fast as you can and shoot riders in front of you etc. With some practice maybe it'd be fun but again I just do not see the point of it I just want to play the game I don't need distractions like you need in RL, hang on the game is a distraction!!!!!

Yeah that' swhy I'm thinkin gdo th eArena nex ttime as I foun dth efirs tfe chalenges fairly easy as you ge tlike 3 t o 5minutes t obea tth emachines in and I thin the longest one took me wa smaybe jus tove r1 minute the Slitherfang o rthe big oversized worm as Aloy calls it. in th efirst set of challenges I onl yhad a go a tth efirs twav ethough. But I plan t ounlock i tearlie rso I can have a prope rg oon m ynex trun. As Ididn't unlock i tuntillate in m yplaythroug han dby tha ttime I fel tdon ewithth egam eso didn' thang around but i tlooks lik eth emerchan tthere has som ereall ynic egearbut you need the marks from th ehuntin grounds and th earena t opurchase them. I think I coull dhav eused som eof tha tstuffwhich i swh ynext tim earound it's a case o fgetting wha tI need t odo i ti fIcan and seein gwhat I ca nunloc kand use. I can definitel yse emysel fdoing a new game plus run at som epoint as having thos etools an dht esunwing from the start will be useful as wel a san yewapon san doutfits. But I don' tthink I collecte denough to warran tgivin gNG+ a go on m ynext run so my next playthrough will be a standard new game but going in knowing what to expect and how to get through it. I suspec tm y3rd run will b ea NG+ htough as I'm thinking I might NG+ Zero Dawn as ewll then t ose ewha tthat's like. As I've no tdone a NG+ o ftha t. I know you get things like extra coil and weave slots on weapons and armours and such but that's it tbh.

I DID IT!!!!
Finally got that stupid Energy Surge Chain challenge completed, then beat the Pit Master, and then found the Enduring, who was not quite what I was expecting but still a good finish for a very tedious build up. Pics of the Enduring in the spoiler so don't look if you don't want to know who it is.
After that I went back to Machine Strike, intermediate level. With my Fireclaw secret weapon the games were much easier to win. I got enough skill points to learn the last skill I needed for "all new skills learned" so that leaves me with only 3 achievements missing: NG+, NG+ rewards, and Ultra Hard. The first two are doable, the last definitely not.
The only thing left I want to do is the third race to get the reveal of Red Teeth. I am very annoyed that this character's identity is locked behind another tedious side quest that you won't likely be able to complete until late in the game, or post-game in my case.

So finished the NG+ Story, lots of side quests I may or may not complete to do.
Hit 217 hours which means the NG+ PT that I just finished the story for only took about 60 hours compared to my first PT which took almost 150.
Really enjoyed playing NG+ as you are familiar with the combat and other game mechanics etc. so that was less stressful. The story was good to repeat as well as you pick up little things and understand it a bit better.
Will dip into it and do Burning Shores, but can you travel back and do the mainland stuff you haven't done if you go to Burning Shores?
EDIT: After reaching Fleets End apparently you can go back and forth. Will probably do a few side quests now then do Burning Shores maybe tomorrow.

All I can say is...."What a stunningly beautiful game." Definiately one of my favourites, right up there with ME OT, Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor
Completing the Main Quests, all but one of the Companion Personal Quests (Zo's, which I will do in an NG+ or before I start Burning Shores) and most of the Errands/side quests....It took me 53.5 hours to complete the main story.
One of my best gaming experiences of recent memory....I think this one, like the ME OT, will stay with me for a while after having played it even once. More than the first one (which in its own right is quite good and thoroughly enjoyable) this one though... has elements to it that stay with you. Makes you ponder the experience of the game, not just a game that you play to 'beat' and 'oh well' or "that was it?!?!?!!????" (surprise at a bad or forced or contrived, choppy ending) etc. This kind of story telling is why I play games.

I am calling it quits on the racing. I've tried multiple control configurations to make 'go faster' easier to maintain and it just isn't working. If I could steer with the mouse this would be so much easier, but having to drive with WASD and also hit other keys to pick stuff up and shoot and hit, as well as go faster, well, my hand just doesn't move that way. So, that's it for me. Now back to Starfield.

So, that's it for me. Now back to Starfield. Yea hI'v estepped awa yfrom Forbidden West but I a mtempted t opick up anf dstar ta Dragon' sDogma run. Though no tsuer yet.

Decided to start Burning Shores.....within minutes, Aloy had me (almost) bursting out laughing. Her response/inquiry to Silens' 'celebrity/ tabloid news' dialogue... "Oh. Yuck."
I almost burst out laughing (had to stifle it because my dad is in bed sleeping)...But that was classic!
Well said, Aloy. Well said.

I just don't find that stuff enjoyable, there is just too much going on and at too fast a pace. TW3's horse racing was bad enough but at least you just basically had to remember the course and buy gear to make you faster etc.

So played for a while yesterday first hunting parts for gear but that got boring after an hour or so, then went and did Delah and Boomer's quest and Morlund's Balloon quest and that was it I think for me. There is just not the motivation for me to do it all. I will head over and do Burning Shores but mainline it I think. A fitting farewell photo to the main game from yesterday's play.

TW3's horse racing was bad enough but at least you just basically had to remember the course and buy gear to make you faster etc. Roach is the best horsie. Although it was annoying, I didn't mind doing the Melee Pit thing a zillion times because it wasn't stressful on my hands (just my patience!). The races are far too pain-inducing, and they aren't short. After trying to use the ALT key for speed, I ended up with a cramp.

My hands rarely hurt but they hurt a lot after even an hour of play and I found it also causes my neck and upper back to hurt as well. I think because with all the jumping I find myself leaning in towards the monitor to try and help Aloy make the jumps.

I think because with all the jumping I find myself leaning in towards the monitor to try and help Aloy make the jumps. You should try Jedi Survivor then....But , honestly, mate, take it from me (someone who is\was a die-hard KB/M user since my first days of Gaming some 35 years ago)....For games like Jedi Survivor, or in this case- Horizon Forbidden West- a PC compatible Controller (such as any of these www.amazon.ca/s?k=powera+wired+controller+for+PC&crid=1LAN4QXZU89DB&sprefix=powera+wired+controller+for+pc%2Caps%2C87&ref=nb_sb_noss_2) is SO MUCH better! Trust me....I never thought I would use a Controller for PC games, I was so die-hard for KB/M....But after how I struggled with Jedi Survivor (just read my posts....I struggled for nearly 2 months on one part using a KB/M setup) Then I broke down and bought a PC Controller and on my first attempt I passed that part I was stuck on and more! The game just opened up! It became so much more accessible, easier and far more fun. ANd honestly I was hesitant to make the purchase because (and I quote) "I didn't think I would ever use a controller for more than just the one game, and if that was the case I didn't want to spend the money. I felt like it would be a waste of money to buy a controller for just one game" (end quote). But now, I would honestly be hard pressed to go back to a KB/M (unless I'm playing MASS EFFECT). For all my recent games (Kena Bridge of SPirits, Jedi Survivor, Forbidden West, Battlefront II....I used a Controller and found it far more enjoyable. And as you have noticed...some KB/M bindings can really be hard on your hands. My advice.... try a Controller. I think you'll find that you like it for a lot of reasons. On a different note: I got into Burning Shores and I am really enjoying it ( in terms of gameplay, environment/world-building, characters and story). I am probably gonna get harpooned for this, but I like Seyka (thus far) though she does tend to be a bit arrogant at times, thinking she's better than me. She flat-out called me her "side-kick" (as if she could've gotten anywhere in or near those ruins without me). Pffft. I like Talana better though. Speaking of Talana....I have't seen her since we parted ways and she was headed for my base. I don't think she ever made it because she wasn't there at the End.
