Wow...I actually didn't know highpoint made a rifle in .380. That was pretty neat to learn. I like what highpoint has been doing, myself. Have you seen their new 'Yeet' cannon? They've made some nice improvements to the design.
Oh, and beetle, I so want to get a Scropion rifle. 100% for ascetics though. I think it looks amazing.

I think it looks amazing. the scorpion rifles looks like the stuff in aliens, all it needs is a digital counter and some caseless ammo and its good to go seriously though my one time with the machine pistol (in 9mm) was fantastic, and some nerd had made drums for it (seriously who doesnt want to burn 50 rounds through that wee beasty, loading the thing was annoying though) if the rifle is like its baby pistol cousin then I would want to see it with at least the same feed system as the saw though... becasue lets face it when your machine pistol has a 900round cyclic rate you really need more than a 1 second burst...

Got my license today so I immediately went to the store to get me my Glock 17, which I totally love now. I'm glad I didn't take the G19, it might be more compact but the G17 fits my hands so well and balances nicely. G17 is what our army and police uses. And I threw it into my RONI stock, which makes it even cooler. One thing I was skeptical about was how well the Glock would be secured in the stock, but now that I installed it I can say it is ROCK solid, it does not move or wiggle a tiny a bit.

I'm curious as to how controllable such a rig would be in full-auto, or short bursts.

I'm curious as to how controllable such a rig would be in full-auto, or short bursts. I immediately wondered about that when I first learned about the RONI. Handling would probably be similar to any other sub machine gun. Maybe even less climb then other sub guns since its a little nose heavy, the stock is in line with the barrel and it has a vertical fore grip to keep it down. She looks amazing! Let us know how she handles at the range? Sure thing!

Thinking about getting a second semi auto gun because that license allows me to get 2 (for now). I already have the Glock, but whats gonna be the second gun? I've always wanted a desert Eagle in .44 but boy, I don't feel like burning close to two grand, same with a .460 S&W revolver, that's also like 1700 bucks. Shot a friends AR-15's a couple times but wasn't really that impressed, I didn't get that ''MUST HAVE'' feeling and while it worked nicely I was kinda MEH about it. Thought about that semi auto shotgun again, but the huge downside of it is that places to shoot shotguns are VERY limited. Those require special stages so you don't destroy the rifle range by peppering it with buckshot. This is hard.

If memory serves, you said it was some off-brand AR. And that it was imported from a not-so-reuptable dealer
Get yourself a very nice AR, or your regional equivalent.
That is my recommendation. Or an AK. Either/or

I need to get a gun. Not just for home defense, I like going shooting at targets, etc. Haven't had a gun in like 10 years. The wife doesn't want me to get a handgun, but she's okay with a shotgun or rifle. Thinking about picking up a .22 or something light.

I don't think they're great for home defense. Well...more like .22LR isn't great. I think a .22 magnum might be.
Can I ask why your wife isn't ok with a pistol?

Either/or Nah, I just don't like AR's, not sure what it is, they're excellent in functionality and handling and everything but I just don't like them much. AK's and variants of them are not legal around here here, sadly. Too much stigma so they went banhammer on them, same with FAL's and G3's. I need to get a gun. Not just for home defense, I like going shooting at targets, etc. Haven't had a gun in like 10 years. The wife doesn't want me to get a handgun, but she's okay with a shotgun or rifle. Thinking about picking up a .22 or something light. Get a pistol caliber carbine, those are just about as cheap to shoot as a .22lr but pack way more of a punch, and that with basically zero recoil. So this can be a fun gun, a wife gun, and also a defensive gun. IMO a first gun needs to be as utilitarian as it gets, it may be your last and only gun as well, and a pistol caliber carbine fits that bill. Like the PC9 in 9mm

I love it btw. Would def recommend, as long as you got quality ammo. I'm shooting winchester ammo atm, and I'm getting a malfunction every 5-10 rounds. I didn't have this issue when I shot American Eagle though, so I think its the ammo. I gave the rifle a good cleaning, and I'm going to pickup some american eagle again, and double check.
Also, could you get yourself a Keltech rifle in 5.56 or .308? For you, and your bulk, maybe .308 would be a big enough kick for you.

All kinds of semi auto rifles are banned for no good reason while others are perfectly fine. Nobody really knows why.

Luckily for our Canadian friends, the VZ-58 is legal, whilst not being an AK mechanically, fulfills the same role as a semi-auto 7.62x39 rifle. Which is why it earned the nick "Canadian AK" up there.

AFAIK the VZ58 is one really fine gun, better than the AK in terms of fit and finish. Sadly another no-go for us here. However, I have laid my eyes upon the Armscor 1911 Ultra Tac .45, and the more I look at it the more I like it, it definitely fits my style. Also, a gun store near my place has one... Hmm......

You might want to take a look at the family of competition handguns collectively misnomered as "colt 2011's" if that takes your fancy. The pistol in that picture's essentially one of them with an integrated steel pistol grip instead of a separate polymer one. They're expensive as all hell, but in exchange for that they're modular, and thus highly customisable. They're also available in a variety of calibre's, not just .45 ACP, and in both single and double stack. A picture of a dismantled one to give you an idea of just how customisable: Pretty much every individual part can be removed and replaced with longer/shorter or otherwise more specialised parts. Longer/shorter thumb spurs. Various hammer shapes. Various trigger options to adjust the length of pull. 4.3 inch, 5 inch, or 6 inch barrel, slide and frame options. Optional mag well attachments. Elongated or normal slide release catches. Hell, you can even add bloody optics to it instead of using conventional sights if you really must.

for any handgun I always prefer to have an integrated laser unit on it that way you can be sure that where the dot appears your going to hit, sights rarely work unless your stance is perfect to when you sighted them in and you rarely shoot in an emergency as you do on the range... its just a personal observation and it might be just me and not having used the things enough (which to be honest is part of the problem, when you dont actually own it and your getting given a different one every time you shoot)

.22LR relies on shot placement a lot. Sure you can still kill someone with one good shot, but the effect on target is nowhere near as good as literally anything else. Also, anything long is bound to be hard to maneuver in CQB because you have doorways, narrow corridors, all that nasty shit.
There's a reason I pull out my pistol when entering a building (when not playing a game where it doesn't matter). If you enter a door and there's a guy right behind it, you're relying on you pulling out a knife and showing him how to correctly gut someone. At that moment, a handgun may be too much of a risk if you get into a wrestling match for it. On the other hand, try wrestling a knife away from me when the only place you can grab it is the blade. One swift movement and you can say goodbye to your tendons.
Long story short: If it's for self-defence, ignore your wife, get a pistol in 9mm.
Sadly yes, otherwise I'd already own one because they are awesome. All kinds of semi auto rifles are banned for no good reason while others are perfectly fine. Nobody really knows why. If I wanted to get a gun in .45 ACP (+p) i'd want to have the Mk23.
(This was also Solid Snake's pistol in MGS1)
