Closest I've come to firing a bullpup is with your standard magazine in grip pistols. I shot a Famas in Iraq, it was odd, uncomfortable to shoot if you ask me but it worked alright. It cycled nicely, had no issues with jamming and it was accurate enough for my tastes.

There's a great mod for Fallout 4 that features that beauty. Oddly enough I have never actually fired anything with the magazine in the back like that. Definitely want to fire off a few rounds with something featuring that. The main difference is that you really feel the action working and cycling right under your head, it gets transferred through your cheek, you feel the springs working. And one more thing you have to be careful about is to press the stock into your shoulder, since more weight is in the butt of the rifle as in normal layout rifles it slips more easily when firing. Other than that, they are short, handy, swing faster which works better for quick target acquisition / leading a moving target. Bullpups are el neato. That's rather pleasing to me One of the reasons why I love shooting an AR15 is feeling and hearing that spring with each shot. There's something satisfying about that sound.

While this drifts into political territory, sadly the constitutionally ensured freedom of actually possessing what we discuss here in the thread warrants it in my eye. In reply to Florida's newly passed Constitutionally unsound law, the NRA is sueing them. I could find precious few outlets that were reporting this in even a neutral light, I mean we all know how CNN loves to slant, the closest I came was RT or Russia today ironically. www.rt.com/usa/420903-nra-florida-guns-lawsuit/

And..very scarred. If the courts hold this up, and the supreme court holds this up then that could be it to our gun rights.

Finally got around to buying some .380 ball ammo in preparation to pop my LCP2's cherry soon. I'll also fire some extra ballistic tip ammo I have (ie what's left after filling up my three mags) as well. Oh and another tidbit, a box of 50 .380 ball ammo is $20 bux at my local shop, while the same amount of 9 mil is $15. s19.postimg.org/urkow6xfn/negativeman.png

I told you to go with 9mm. Get me a shrink ray to make my G19 as small as the LCP2 for CC in the summer/spring den. Speaking of which, shot both the LCP2 and my G19 today. I shot 55 rounds out of the LCP2 without a hitch. I plan on renting and firing a Glock 20 (in 10 mil) the next time i go to the range, along with both .38spc and .357 from my revolver.

BTW, got my .223 pump AR Troy PAR. Love it, the action is smoother than anything I have ever cycled which allows me to shoot it super fast, I can cycle it with two fingers. Not as fast as a semi-auto but its really close, which is perfectly adequate for me. Also the cycling does not make me lose sight of the target, thats how smooth it is. The aluminum stock can be folded (no buffer tube) turning the rifle into a 26'' small package. Quality is really good, bore, barrel and bolt are melonite-treated, everything is tight and works really smoothly, it has been highly accurate in my first test. Also love the 14,5'' barrel, IMO the perfect length. Trigger is mediocre though. I mounted a 2-7x33 Redfield in a Burris PEPR, at 2x making quick shots at very close ranges is super easy, specially with its wide field of view, and with 7x using with the holdover reticle making hits at 300 meters is no problem. Open backup irons are from Troy also.

Are those pump action rifles easier to maintain due to a lack of gas system?

Are those pump action rifles easier to maintain due to a lack of gas system? Yes, all the gas is vented out the barrel, nothing is vented back into the system like with the AR's direct impingement system, pump is more reliable so you can run all sorts of ammunition through it, and if dirt gets into the action or it freezes out in the cold you simply pump harder. Also one minor side effect is you can control the ejection speed and time, if you are a reloader like me you don't have to pick up damaged and dinged brass from the floor. Ammo is expensive, this allows me to save brass which results in more ammo which translates into more bullets downrange / practice. All those advantages come with two disadvantages, it shoots a little slower than a semi (aimed fire) and it is not as comfortable to shoot from a rest since you have to cycle the action. Still, I am very happy with the rifle. In fact it is better than I expected, I expected the action to be harder to cycle resulting in slower rate of fire and lots of movement when chambering another round, but thats really not the case at all.

Doesn't look nearly as stupid as it sounds. But you know what they say about stupid looking things that work. Time and time again a lot of things I found stupid for many years turned out to work really damn well. That taught me the lesson that judging too quickly without having done research and having first hand experience is not the wisest move. To name a gun related example, until a few years a go I would not even have dreamed of owning a rifle a in .223, I did not like that cartridge at all thinking its marginal, tiny and a poodle shooter. I totally was aboard the hate train. Only after gathering unbiased data, getting first hand experience with guns chambered in that caliber, crunching ballistic numbers and also reading reports of field use of that cartridge I slowly came to the conclusion that its not a stupid round at all and that it actually makes a lot of sense. It can't do all for sure but it definitely has its place. And here I am now, owning a rifle in .223 and really liking it.
