GeneralXIV : Chewbacca: A Star Wars story is a very good flick. Not great, not quite better than Rogue 1, but damn good As far as your comments about the sequels, especially the Last Dumpster Fire, I'll go with this You thought Solo was good? I'm shocked I truly am I saw the trailers for Solo on Sky and they were enough to turn me off the film. Though I had no intention of seeing it, the trailers just confirmed that I didn't want to see it and that it looked and sounded bad. The guy they cast has Han just made me cringe each time he opened his mouth....

When I first saw the trailer for Solo, and really all of its promotional material tbh... I didnt feel any need to see it. It was partly because of the casting for Han, partly the question of "is the movie really necessary?" and a few other concerns. I dont really go to theaters to see movies anyway, but eh. After watching Solo for the first time on Blu-Ray, it really took me by surprize. Even though Alden Ehrenreich doesnt look like Han Solo and doesn't sound like him... during the movie, I didnt really think "Oh, hes obviously not Han" because they kinda did his character so well. Lando especially was 100% great. I have no idea how they were able to capture the characters so well in different people, I was really impressed. I felt like a bit of a jerk because its because of people like me and the way I felt about the movie before I had even seen it that kinda caused a great movie to not do so well. And I would really like more Solo movies tbh. Even though after watching it once I enjoyed the movie, every time I watched it after made me appreciate it more. Now after quite a few times... Id maybe say its equal in quality to Rogue One, but thats just my personal opinion For me, the third act was the biggest highlight of Solo. So many good films are let down by their ending, like wonder woman... But Solos ending was what made an otherwise good movie great imo Poor L3-37 though I liked her. She was funny. One thing Ive noticed is that the new SW movies are kinda giving me a lot more of an emotional response than the older movies, especially the prequels. Like... in The Force Awakens, when Rey pulls the lightsaber into her hand in the forest, I get chills EVERY time. Even listening to the soundtrack (I own a lot of Star Wars CDs), gives me chills. It happens a lot in TFA for me. Always. When Kylo kills Han, I still feel shocked/sad even though Ive watched the movie more times than I can count. In TLJ, when Kylo kills Snoke and Rey catches the lightsaber... more chills. On Crait, when the speeders are being attacked and Rey shoots down the TIE fighters. In the soundtrack, theres the millennium falcon entrance followed a few seconds later by a little bit of Reys Theme, and I love it. Gives me goosebumps just listening to the soundtrack. Then, when Luke faces down the AT-M6s. The Spark soundtrack. Just great. Honestly, I love it all. Even though I do have emotional responses to all Star Wars movies generally, even though the more recent movies seem to cause it to happen more, the Vader hallway scene in Rogue One is just emotionally orgasmic for the fangirl in me. Its just perfection, really

TFA just left me cold, I watched it but didn't have any real emotional reaction to it. Han's death you could see coming a mile away that really was anti climatic. After TFA had finished mum said to me "That wasn't very good was it?" and I agreed with her. Soon thereafter a gave the DVD away as I knew I'd never watch it again. Rogue One both mum and I enjoyed, especially seeing Vader being such a badass at the end, that alone was worth the price of the DVD But again I really didn't have much of an emotional reaction to it. I don't know if it's my age or the fact I'm a bloke.

I don't know if it's my age or the fact I'm a bloke. I love Hans death scene in TFA. Probably the wrong emotion. Its heartbreaking, but cinematically just... wow. The way the lighting changes from blue/red to represent Kylos inner conflict to pure red when the sun goes out before he kills Han. The scene is so beautifully made omg I found his death really jarring (in a good way). Great scene imo I absolutely love TFA. Really, my favorite SW movie without a doubt in my mind. Which is rare, because Im indecisive. Its just so idk great. I have a signed TFA poster that my fiancee gave me as a gift because she knows I love the movie so much. With Rogue One... sometimes I was emotionally moved throughout the movie. The music mostly did it for me. When Jedha City was being destroyed, I thought "Oooh awesome"... Probably the wrong emotion. When they were struggling to transmit the data on Scarif, I kinda felt tense because of the way they kept running into obstacles. I found that quite tense for sure. When K2 died ofc I was sad... for me, other than the Vader scene, the most emotional moment for me was when Jyn and Cassian were on the beach and the death star wave of death was approaching. I kinda felt like they must have been, watching their death come closer and closer and knowing they were gonna die but not being able to stop it. That made me feel TERRIBLE. Like really terrible. Im so happy the Vader scene was there immediately after to bring joy to me because otherwise Im not sure I would have watched Rogue One again. Im kinda afraid of dying and I often make myself panic and cry and feel terrible by the idea that one day Ill die and no longer exist and I need things to distract me from it sometimes so I can kinda recover. Thats what the Vader scene was to me, a way for me to not focus on the idea of dying and it leaves the movie on a high note imo I really recommend that you watch Solo and The Last Jedi though. Both are great I think the only real notable complaint that I have about Solo is that it can sometimes feel like the plot is designed to just check things off a list with ground the movie has to cover. The Last Jedi... a few scenes could have been slightly better, but those exist in every movie, even TFA which I think is perfect. Overall, I found both super enjoyable

But as I've said TFA left me cold and with no desire to see TLJ or Solo whatsoever and I don't give a Brass Razoo about epersiode IX either. Disney had their chance with me and they've lost me. Do I still like Star Wars? Yes I do. Just not Disney's interpretation of a galaxy far, far away.

I gave Star Wars one more chance after having to sit through a kiddie and a teen movie with the prequels. I already skipped part 3 of the prequels, but TFA really took the trainwreck a step further. Now I only watch bemusedly what crap they come up with next.

I think Revenge of the Sith is the best prequel Im sorry to hear you guys didnt get the same enjoyment out of the movies that I did. I think its sad. Not because people need to like the same things as I do or anything, but because I love the movies so much and they fill me with lots of joy and I think it would be good for more people to feel that way. If people dont like some Star Wars movies, thats totally fine with me. One of the things I dont like though is when people start to say things like "Youre not a real Star Wars fan!" etc. I think that sucks. Also... when some people start to focus on how the movies/franchise is "failing" or "x is ruining Star Wars!" and post click-baity videos about it that unfairly target specific people. It just seems a little selfish to me. If I dont like a movie, I might say that I dislike it and explain why. But as long as the movie makes people happy, even if that person isnt me... I dont want it to fail, and I would never post over and over again about how much I dislike something. Im not sure I could, not seriously. Maybe thats just me being weird idk. Those are the 2 main things Ive seen people do when there are differences of opinion that I dont really like, but those are really the only things that kinda affect me. Im just curious, but what does everyone think about the action sequences and fight choreography in The Force Awakens? I personally think it had the best from all the SW movies. It felt really organic somehow, not like the dances in the PT or the old guy fighting in the OT. Im just curious how you guys think it compares in that respect

It felt really organic somehow, not like the dances in the PT or the old guy fighting in the OT. Im just curious how you guys think it compares in that respect Slow. And I realise that Star Wars began with the concept that the lightsabers are really heavy to wield, and these films are more likely headed back in that direction, but it looked like they were wielding heavy, unbalanced weapons. traditionally weapons are balanced more toward the hilt, and provides a bit more control over the blade. Katanas have a wedge at the back of the sword, so some people say that it feels like you're swinging a baseball bat (not as balanced). The fight scenes in TFA and TLJ look like they're fighting with even more unbalanced weapons, and I didn't like the fight scene in Snoke's throne room at all. It all looked slow and fake. Sometimes I get the impression there's something very heavy at the END of their lightsabre, which would just make it unwieldy. And if that's the case, then what's the point? EDIT: Kylo has a crossguard hilt on his sword, so theoretically he should have more weight near the hand making it easier to control than a normal lightsaber. And he was almost selling the idea that the point of the lighstaber was really heavy more than Rey was. EDIT 2: And a lot of times they tried to sell their really light mock lightsaber being really heavy, but lol no. And sometimes those lightsabers look really light. EDIT 3: And the Praetorian guards moved slow and clumsy as well. They were wearing medieval type armor, but why? Looks more ornamental than anything. And medieval plate armor was actually pretty light so why were they moving so slow? Surely they wouldn't wear armor that would so inhibit them. There may be in universe reasons for it, but what it translates to on the screen is a bunch of people fighting clumsy and slowly, sometimes unintentionally quickly, against a bunch of other people fighting clumsy and slowly, sometimes unintentionally quickly, and at some point people have to think that such advanced technology produces ... this kind of "elite" fighting? EDIT 4: Near the beginning of the throne room fight there was this Praetorian guard who took this short swing with his weapon, missed, then just kept running out of frame. Like, I'm not paid enough for this shit, fucking see ya xD Actually the beginning of the fight just looked like people were just trying to keep out of everyone else's way. Elite warriors my arse. EDIT 5: But let's see the Force Awakens fight again. Tips of their weapons look really heavy and making the whole thing unwieldy (both the weapons and the fighting. Thousands of years of advancement and the weapons they use for life and death are like this? Okay ...) Anyway lots of slow motion swinging EDIT 6: When they locked blades there didn't seem like there was any force. They just looked like they placed the blades there EDIT 7: The really massive overhead from Rey was stylistically abysmal But whatever. If you like the original trilogy you're not really watching the movies for great action scenes anyway *looks at Obi-wan vs Darth Vader fight* ...

The action scenes are well done. And that's about it. They cant stand on their own. They are just bling bling filler to cover up copy and paste jobs of story or the lack of storybuilding altogether.
The most hollow scene is the throne room fight following the pathetic death of SW's most uninteresting villain Gollum. Cheap ass backdrop. Setting scene for ONLY supporting the fight. There is no background to the fight just as well there is no background to pull-outa-my-ass New Order either. The heroes lack motivation and reason. The anti-heroes as well. The whole setting lacks reason and motivation. Is pretty much condensed in this very own scene.

Sorry, this is a little off topic but I kinda feel I have the responsibility to say something. After hearing about what is happening to Captain Marvel and the way that some people were taking words out of context and misrepresenting them, I was reminded about something that happened over on the Battlefront forums. In a thread, someone posted this picture: They used it to say something like blahblah radical agenda blah blah feminism blah blah. My first thought when I saw the picture was that something didnt feel right. It just didnt make sense. Maybe it's just me who kinda assumes most people are reasonable, but I decided to Google it. "The Force is Female" is not affiliated with Star Wars. Kathleen Kennedy is not making a statement about Star Wars. Its a campaign by Nike, the sportswear people, I think its about a type of shoe iirk. The campaign itself is about celebrating successful and influential women who are inspiring people. The photo was taken at a film festival that kinda wants to inspire women and help those struggling to get into the movie industry. Im pretty sure you get the idea by now. All the picture shows is a woman who is trying to use her success in the movie business to inspire people like her. That's all. Star Wars doesnt come into the picture in any way. People who show this photo to push their agenda are either outright lying to you or are too lazy to Google search. I just felt like I should explain this in the name of honesty. I imagine its been posted in this thread already given how it can get in here sometimes, but there are some facts. Yay for facts.

Kathleen Kennedy allowed The Last Dumpster Fire to happen on her watch, and she has Rian Johnson in mind to direct a future SW trilogy. She's still a shitter regardless of her political leanings.

Here's the truth; Brie Larson was mis-represented & mis-quoted More truth; her 1st Marvel movie is mediocre at best Yet nore truth; 3rd-wave Feminism is a misguided, unnecessary & moronic "movement" perpetrated by spoiled, rich white girls who have no REAL idea as to what "oppression" means, nor what it means to sacrifice or work REALLY hard for something. (See; Neo-marxist entitlement bullshit). I really hate to ruin your Thursday, but I feel I have no choice themuse.jezebel.com/a-frank-talk-with-jessa-crispin-about-why-modern-day-fe-1792367458Message me when you've recovered Is this a reply to me? *blinks* Erm... Im sorry, I never mentioned anything political other than "blahblah x" and that was so I could avoid quoting/writing something political that the person said on the Battlefront forums while still kinda letting you guys know how people use the picture. I definitely never mentioned my support for any group... at all. I think this is way less devastating than you think it is My post was about honesty, not politics. Im sorry for the misunderstanding. Im still confused about why anyone would need to recover, unless its from the confusion, but Im not sure this is a discussion for this thread. Or the forum really. But Im happy youre so passionate about something Kathleen Kennedy allowed The Last Dumpster Fire happen on her watch, and she has Rian Johnson in mind to direct a future SW trilogy. She's still a shitter regardless of her political leanings. Well, at least you now know what the picture is if you see it again I was never expecting to change anyones mind. I just wanted to be honest and try to stop misinformation that I saw. It was actually posted in this thread a while back, I just found it. So theres that. Back to lightsabers. I really like Kylos lightsaber design. I think its representative of him as a person in the sense that hes crude, brutal and unstable. It fits well with him. The crossguards come in useful also

That was great GeneralXIV : That was a reply to ANYONE who keeps harping on the media circus surrounding this film. Clearly you aren't one of these folks. Carry on Erm. Ok. *still confused but oh well its nothing unusual* Anyway.
