What keeps me playing ME is the gameplay. Sure I like some of the characters, but doing a playthrough this way and that way with the same result or different results adds replay value.
Elizabeth Nancy Shepard - Earthborn/soldier/ruthless Humanity #1 I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite playthrough in ME If you see a soldier or veteran, shake their hand and thank them for their service
Michael Gamble @gamblemike Did you see the numerous player melee weapons in the trailer? I count at least 3.
P-V Belisle @pvbelisle 1, 2 and 3. Yup
P-V Belisle @pvbelisle and a JIRA was filled for one of them because of that video. Love the authenticity of this video, take current build -> capture
I like this.
While we might have seen some of the unfinished things, I'm also reassured that they didn't spend a bunch of time spot-welding things together with gum and duct tape just for a trailer. Temporary fixes that they then would have to waste time unraveling to get back to a point where they can fix it for real.
Main plot, certain side plots (like Crestwood), the characters, dialogue, judgments, etc. But I found combat to be rather a chore as anything other than a warrior. And downright frustrating at times.
Thanks for the answer. I didn't dislike the combat, but it seems clear to me they tried to find a middle ground between DAO and DA2, without completely succeeding.
I'd have taken DAO or DA2's combat over DAI's. In looking for a middle ground, they ended up making something that lacked the appeal of either. But I find the story entertaining enough to carry on.
In the end, my strategy ends up being: "outlevel everything, then roflstomp my way through the game"

Which, I suppose, had an appeal of its own
I agree on the point of middle ground lacking the appeal of both games' gameplay. Tactics and stats being reduced to be minimal wasn't a big appeal for me either.

I wonder why he went directly for turians Anyway, it's good to know another Ark's name and designed species.
well now i want to scour the rest of the trailer to see if maybe they showed the names of the other arks. really interested to see what the Salarians named theirs.
I think Ark Parcero sounds more likely to be salarian than turian, personally. Some of their early colonies have similar names. Turian names, on the other hand, tend to sound more purely derived from Latin.
Edit: Checking the spelling of those salarian colonies on wiki, I no longer believe Parcero is salarian. Turian it is.

possible. though Mike didn't correct the user when he assumed the Ark was Turian. for whatever that's worth.

Pretty major difference between sync kills in SP and MP. You almost have to try to get sync killed in SP (I'm being a bit over dramatic ... but only a bit). I'm guessing that the clip is telling us that sync kills in ME:A SP will be more like the sync kills in ME3 MP ... not ME3 SP. In which case, they will be a legit threat that you have to deal with.
To me, ME3 SP on insanity fell somewhere between Bronze and Silver in MP. It's possible that ME:A difficulty levels track more closely to ME3 MP difficulty levels. Which might mean ME:A MP levels are even more challenging ... or could mean that the difficulty levels in ME:A more closely track between SP and MP to allow for that seamless transition from one to the other ... which to me, would make sense. But it could imply that balance changes to MP could end up affecting SP ... in order to keep the difficulty levels similar. To include sync kills.
I'm good with that ... for me, that would make SP much more interesting. I doubt everyone would agree ... especially those that don't play MP.
I didn't play MP, but ME is definitely the IP to change that. Had my circumstances been different, I'd have jumped in with ME3. At any rate, ME3MP benefited us all, SP and MP players. ME3MP ended up being an extended live-study of ME3. It was great for the game and IP.
The SP difficulty was really low in ME3, and all pretense of challenge was destroyed by playing the Vanguard, which seems to be the most beloved class among this forum. Bringing MEA SP and MP into alignment will hopefully allow any builds to be played without completely wrecking any semblance of challenge and game balance. Some will obviously be more optimal, but hopefully not brokenly so like the SP Vanguard.
I hope the biotic punch is making a return, maybe as a 1 hit KO ability?
As I see it, we'll be able to select the melee type of attack ourselves. Hopefully it's not only omniblade/real blades and hammers and weapons in general, but biotic punch/strike as well.

Couldn't agree more. ME3MP was a massive boon to the franchise, and I really hope that Bioware doesn't fuck up Andromeda's MP the same way they fucked up Inquisition's.
Plus as some fun trivia: The animations for the side dashes, short-range teleports, and sword hits seen in the Andromeda gameplay video were ripped straight from various classes in ME3MP.

I dunno. It's best to have both, but I've thoroughly enjoyed some games that had really wonky gameplay (Alpha Protocol comes immediately to mind)
Heck I enjoyed DAI despite some seriously questionable design choices.
Out of curiosity, do you mean you enjoyed the main plot/side quest's writing? I can enjoy a game for the writing or the gameplay, though I'd say for rpgs I lean over the former.
Alpha Protocol was the shit. Really wish they make a squeal. This where we can make our own agent

Francisco Pereira @pkypereira didn't someone reveal that the N7 character from the first trailer was an antagonist? Is it DadRyder? Is he Cerberus??
Mac Walters @macwalterslives It is dad Ryder. But he is not an antagonist. Though if you were to ask Scoot & Sara, they may say he is antagonistic… At times.

True. I also looked at the spelling of those salarian colonies' names on the ME wiki. (I'm a language nerd.) They weren't spelled as I expected, meaning the inspirations were different.
Ark Parcero is likely Turian.
It kind of makes me chuckle, because "parcero" is slang for bro, dude, homie in Colombia. Who was our bro, homie, dude in the OT? Garrus, of course! It's a connection I can't unsee, now that I see it.

Yeah, side dashes are especially noticeable.

This is a total ripoff of the Slayer (minus the jetpack), which is fine since I really liked that character.

So they went back to player-sexuality? Imo I don't care at this point. I'd probably argue that it's unrealistic and whatnot few years ago, but considering how important characters and relationships are in Bioware's games these days and how slowly they're pushing games out (and how few RPGs in general come out these days, especially with fleshed out romances) I think it's for the best to allow everyone experience the character they like the most in the way they want (meaning as male or female). I'd just hate if there are no differences at all in dialogues/scenes depending on your MC's gender.
