Alright, I pretty much never head towards the DA subforums since I'm not really that much into DA, and Inquisition kinda killed my will to play even more. However, IF I were to start a new playthrough I want to know a few things about armors, basically because I want my character to look cool, maybe it'll keep me interested to continue to play:
Who has the best looking and more variety in armors? what class and what race? I know for fact I wont be looking at the qunari ever again since it was the biggest disappointment in the entire game for me. Game had literally like 4 armors that could be wore by a qunari and that counting the pre-order armor too. And their armors were awful, no steel plate or anything of the sort, just that "pirate scum" looking dresses. I tried to google for a list, some place that have pictures of all the armors and their restrictions (class/race), wikipedia was a bit meh in that regard.
Anyways, no need to do a super extensive list or anything, just tell me more or less which one of all the races has any cool looking armor and which class has the more variety.

and Inquisition kinda killed my will to play even more. Besides the armor look, was it because you burned out in the Hinterlands? That's what usually turns first-timers off on the game. If so, there is a remedy for that, but before I post it, want to confirm that was a problem. All of the following is obviously very subjective. No one race or class has some kind of best dressed list. They all suck for the most part, with a small number of exceptions here and there. Personally, I think elves and dwarves get better looking armor than other races, but they both have very distinctive looks that you either love or hate. Humans probably have the largest variety, but 90% of them look bad. Warriors have a slight edge on better looking armor, but mages do have one or two good ones. I can't find a single human/dwarf rogue armor that I really like, but there are a couple I can tolerate. Sounds like you prefer classical D&D paladin style plate armor as an aesthetic. Is that in the ballpark? Male or female? That's pretty difficult to achieve. Some of Blackwall's armor choices probably comes closest to that, but obviously you want your PC to have the armor, not a companion. You could look through some of the heavy armor pictures from the table in the wiki and give us a better idea of what you like: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Heavy_armor_(Inquisition)Click on the name of the armor in the table to see a page with a picture. But keep track of whether the picture is of the Inquisitor or a companion, because the looks often differ. An armor on Blackwall won't look at all like the armor on the PC. Some shots in the dark suggestions: Armor of the Knights DivineHeavy Warden ArmorMasterwork Vanguard ArmorFinally, if you are on PC, there are also mods for armor that generally improve options.

If so, there is a remedy for that, but before I post it, want to confirm that was a problem. I did beat the game once. Once, that's all. My first playthrough was as a rogue (human, archer). Story itself is not that bad, my problem are these type of things. Like no variety, poor balancing, bad leveled lists, extremely odd map leveling. Bad interface (yep, I'm on PC). Tried a second time, as a qunari, I didn't want to believe they had literally no customization options at all. My hopes where absolutely crashed, that and how in the story it means literally nothing being a qunari. Then tried a third as a dwarf warrior, was okay. I did noticed that warriors get more "variety" as little as that means in this game. Not really, I mean I do appreciate different styles, and DA:I has its own style. But it's the complete lack of variety that turns me down. What I meant about the qunari armor is that all of them look awful, just a pair of pants and nothing on the chest, like who the F goes like that into a battlefield? Worst part is, that thing is supposed to be heavy armor? gee... And the explanation given by Ironbull "the qunari only wear full armor when they're at war" is retarded. They really screwed what could otherwise be one of the coolest races in the game.

Took me a while, but here's what I mean about elf and dwarf armor being distinctive and either love or hate. What do you think? Yeah, they do look cool. Although the dalish "heavy" armor is kind of a joke. Nothing wrong with the looks, but how come that's heavy when the keeper's light armor seems to provide much more protection? One of my problems with the game always was how little it had in variety as I mentioned. There aren't many armor sets really (at least not that I remember), seems like most of the differentiation comes from what and if you apply modifications to the armors themselves to change slightly how they look.

Your reply might have crossed my second reply, check out the pictures above. They really screwed what could otherwise be one of the coolest races in the game. I know what you mean about Qunari armors, so you have to get creative. You can remove the class restriction and put them in medium armors, some of which look better on a Qunari warrior than heavy armor. Also, some of the heavy armors look "normal" on a Qunari. Like this one: (Sorry, only have a shot of his back, but the armor completely covers him): Here's medium armors on a fem Qunari. I don't love them, but they don't look silly either: testscreenies.wordpress.com/2016/09/23/belinda-qunari-female-dw-rogue/

Those are normal "human" armors on a qunari and look way better and functional than the qunari "exclusive" armor. They gave us this race that can only use one particular type of armor and they didn't even introduced armors for said race? If I'm not mistaken they have only 2 different armors in game, and 2 more armors are introduced I think with the DLC thing that are not even that good looking for what I saw in the wiki.

Does the Descent Armor not make you happy? It's a lot of metal. It's usually what turns me off, but can't argue that t doesn't cover.

You're on PC, so you can make use of mods as well. For instance, you can use a mod that makes the leather padding on the default armor a different color. It might also be worthwhile to download a save so you can use the Golden Nug and gain access to all of the crafting recipes. Once those are connected to your account, you can toss out that save and create a new character. I happen to like the crafted armors that you can make in the game. If you use certain materials, you can subvert the class restrictions; this is by design, not a cheat. As you mentioned, the different styles of gauntlets and boots mean you can mix and match until you get the appearance you like. Also, each chest armor has two main appearances, the standard and "sturdy," where the sturdy has some different elements -- this is a total of 18 different cheat appearances, with even more if you use a different class armor; how is that not variety? Elves have access to the elf armor, dwarves have access to the dwarven armor, and all races can use the Warden armor, but whether those are good or not is subjective.
