I'm doing a Dragon Age Marathon, even though I'm skipping the add-ons of DAO(Awakening/Golems/Witch Hunt) for time, but I'm playing a class in each one, in the first, I did a dual wielding warrior, so that means when I play as a Rogue in 2 or Inqusition, for playstyle, they have to be a Archer. But I don't know which game to play which class in. If I play a Archer in 2, I'll be playing a Mage in Inqusition, and vice versa. Suggestions would be nice?

Both are good fun I think so I don't think it matters too much to me If I were to choose I'd go mage for DA2 and Archer for DAI. Purely because I don't think DA2 works quite as well in DA2 as it does in DAI at least for me. Both are good fun though. Although I've got to asy Rift mage is my favourite spec though plasyed one in my last run in fact. Current running as an Archer rogue trying to unlock Varric's specialization for my quizzy. Haven' tdone it yet but that's kind of where I'm at atm. Along with preparing for the Here Lies the Abyss and Wicked Eyes wicked Hearts quest.

Have you ever played these games before, or is this your first run? I don't want to spoil too much.
I haven't played an archer yet at all (aside from taking control of Varric), and have only done mage in DAO and DAI, but mage is interesting lore-wise either way, I think. In DA2, you may have to do some headcanoning to explain why the Templars didn't arrest Hawke for doing magic in the streets, but it does give Hawke some very personal investment in the mage/templar conflict aside from just concern over a sibling. Plus, then you get to have Carver along, and lots of people like him.

Either one can be a lot of fun in DAI, although I prefer playing Knight Enchanter myself. You don't necessarily have to specialise as an archer in DA2 because you can switch weapons mid fight if you want, you just have to pause the game. Personally I had far more fun playing a dual wielding rogue in DA2 (swapping to a bow when more appropriate) but an archer in DAI (because the control of a dual wielder was really clumsy to my mind and you couldn't swap weapons mid fight). So I'd recommend playing a mage in DA2 (I played a force mage/spirit healer) and an archer in DAI.

Rift mage and archer rogue are my two favorite classes in DAI. I personally like the archer a little bit better, but the rift mage is fun to play too. You can do more AOE with the mage, but you do a lot of famage to single targets with the archer.

You can do more AOE with the mage, but you do a lot of famage to single targets with the archer. yeah that's one of the things I'm loving about playing an Archer right now. It's one of the things I like about playing a Knight Enchanter as well as I enjoy playing characters sometimes with that much power at their dispoasl. Not too effective on DA2 based on what I've played but on DAI even the dragons take tons of damage per strike from me I rememberlate on in my last run as a dwarven rogue a couple of playthroughs ago I even made pretty short work of the Qunari in Trespasser as they went down like flies. My dwarf Tina started out as a dual wielder but switched to archery late on and caused some real havoc to not only the darkspawn in Descent but the Qunari in Trespasser as well. I just brought down my first dragon with my Rachel Travelyan the Northern Hunter. Mostly because I wanted to start collecting dragon materials now for armour and weapons as I find them the best materials in the game to use for me and I'm now at a level I can safely start doing it.

Archer in DA2 pales in comparison to archer in DAI, so for that reason alone I'd choose mage in DA2 and archer in DAI.
I probably would have done things slightly differently from the outset if it were me, though. I'd have gone mage in DAO because of the sheer scope of abilities, then I'd have gone dual wield rogue in DA2 because it's some of the most fun gameplay I've had in a Dragon Age game, and then archer in DAI. I know that misses out the warrior class entirely, but we've got magic, melee and non-magic ranged all nicely represented, so it's good enough for me. Archer in DAI is better than DW rogue, imo. The latter never feels as smooth and as satisfying as it did in DA2 for some reason, whereas the archer's abilities and playability have been improved dramatically.
