We've seen a rocky/arid world in the latest gameplay vid, also saw more rocky/arid in the PREVIOUS gameplay vid with the huge creature, more rocky/arid in the TRAILER.
At this stage we've only seen fleeting panned scene of a couple other different-looking areas with no gameplay in them...........so we're supposed to be explorers and Andromeda is supposed to be what they wanted ME1 to be all those years ago. We better not get the same boring rocky/arid environments to fight through.
I wanna see lava terrains and exotic jungles with hungry mutant plant species trying to GET US, even water worlds like Leviathan.

I think from the trailers and teasers and released art that we will see: A desert world An ice world A lava world A jungle world A barren (rocky) world
Those are what I remember seeing. As for others I think are possible/probable: A prairie/grassland world An island (mostly water) world A fog/smog/toxic gas world A crystal world A city planet

Based on what we've seen so far, there's going to be a lot. No more copy/paste environments. Hopefully.

Sorry, I don't think I was clear enough. The city planet was an idea that I thought might be probable or likely. However, here's a picture of what I'm calling the "Jungle Planet." We saw it in the 2015 E3 Trailer and again in some promotional photos.

I hope we get a mixture of those as well. A city planet made of magma. Or an island planet with islands made of crystals.

Well there's inevitably going to be repeats of world archetypes unless the number of worlds are small.

I'm sure we will have plenty, so I'm not worried about that. What I look foward to is the vistas and what I hope for is dynamism. They already said we will have sand storms and what not, so it will be best if the planets do not feel static.
Also, something that would be cool is if the planets make sense considering their solar system.

Props for the question. I am also interested in how varied the landscapes will be and if they'd have alien feel to them.
I'd love to see a botanical extravaganza with creative vegetation, that does not resemble Earth.

How about planets with different, varying landscapes - ice, lava, desert, jungle, steppes, cities and so on - like our own?
How about different gravity?
How about all those cool things from the Codex in ME1, like planets with such extreme temperature conditions that you can only hang out in the "twilight zone" between night and day?
I don't only want to read about such things again, I want to experience them!

I wish the planets didn't look so much familiar. From what we've seen so far, the planets are similar to many places we have on Earth, they just add some new details here and there. I wish the planets were a bit more "aliens". Why the sand is the same as on Earth in Andromeda? Couldn't it be blue or red or anything else? Why the sky is the same as here? Same can be said about the grass, the trees, flowers, rocks etc... I wish they had some weird form and colour. We already had a lava planet in ME1 and even ME2. Also, from what we saw, in Andromeda we have a planet with ice, a planet with sand, a planet with grass but isn't it absurd if you think that we already have all of this in one single planet that is Earth? While exploring this uncharted planets, I want to get excited to see what's there because everything should look new and weird to me. And I never felt that feeling in any of the planets we saw. And tbh, the "sand planet" remind me of the Western Approach, just with some more details and a better graphic. I'd prefer quality over quantity. Better have a few "alien" planets instead of a dozen of planets all similar to Earth. I like the OP idea of a water world like the Leviathan that we can explore and why not meet a new alien species that live in it. If our Ryder can swim, it would be even funnier to explore.

Well I think part of that is probably because as the Pathfinder we are trying to find a new home for humanity, and it makes sense that we would naturally look for a planet or planets that are familiar instead of settling on an entirely alien world. I do hope that we will see some very alien landscapes, and I have faith that in the large information dumps coming forward that we will see at least a few worlds that look totally alien.

Well, they've already said that they are going with the more "Star Wars" type single-biome planets, so I don't think we'll see any that transition. That makes a certain type of sense anyway because I'm guessing that on most planets we will only be visiting a small area, even if it's "open world". And even on our planet, for the most part if you are dropped on some landmass and travel 50 miles in any direction the biome will remain pretty much the same. It would be awesome if there were planets with different gravity from Earth, but I don't know how easy that is to implement into a game.

I just hope we are not going to be stuck on an ice world. In SWTOR, Hoth was really hard on my eyes, Ilum was not much better despite its gorgeous skies and colored crystals. I would rather have that early spring setting they had on Alderan if we must have snow. At least it had flowers.
One thing I really loved about the second of the new Star Treck movies was the opening sequence in that stunning alien world with bright red jungle vegetation. It was visually appealing and unusual. And not dead...
I think Bio's most creative landscapes were in Baldur's Gate I, Icewind Dales and Jade Empire. Most of their later games struggled with the backdrops imo. Though Gree landscapes in the Terror from Beyond and the interiors on Ilum were great.
Again, I hope they will let their imaginations run wild, and we'll have a variety of skies, terrain and vegetation. Oh, please! I mean, I will suspend my disbelief for a gorgeous fantastical landscape, even if it makes geomorphologists weep in the arms of botanists!

I hope we sorta see elements return like Haestrom for example, where if you stay in the direct sunlight, you get toasted and roasted. Planets where your gameplay and tactics for progression, exploring and combat are thrown for a loop, and you have to work around or act differently.
Like the gravity thing Gileadan mentioned, and other things that force you to adapt or change.
And appropriate breather masks/equipment etc for toxic planets. Do not want a repeat of those aesthetially pleasing but lore breaking bubble masks Miranda wore in Andromeda.

I do hope that we will see some very alien landscapes, and I have faith that in the large information dumps coming forward that we will see at least a few worlds that look totally alien. Given how rare Earth-like planets are, I don't think aesthetics can be a determining factor in where humanity settles. If we can breathe, if the temperature is within our norms and if the soil is arable we better be ready to adjust to a purple sky planet that orbits the sun in double digit days instead of triple. www.space.com/33952-five-nearest-earth-like-alien-planets.htmllinkUnrelated images just from google searching "alien landscapes": Also, yes different gravity and other environmental conditions would be awesome. Really use your imagination!

this game needs day/night cycle, such a great opportunity to really change and affect environments, diferent life organisms during day or night, different temperatures and of course landscapes, in night we can see more stars, etc, during day, there is warmth and different colors, etc
ithink that there should be different weather conditions, landscapes and environments in the same planet, it's just borng if a planet is ice only or desert only, waste of space, resources,
