Of all the choices in the character creator, they went with the default setting. If there's a Rook cameo, I'll forgive the fact they have a pawn as a magick archer. Rook: So there I was, face to face with Salomet. He said something like, 'No! Even with this magic ring I am no match for the great and powerful and sexy Rook!' Alynna: I 100% believe everything you just said. Rook:... and then he said, 'I surrender! Please, ser! Spare my life!' But I said, 'No! You have tormented our fair city for far too long', and I blasted him clear off the tower with Ingle. Reynard: Yeah, I JUST ran into Salomet. He bought some shoes from me not five minutes ago. Rook: Yeah, but you see, the thing about that, is... uh... *runs away*

So I watched it. There's seven episodes, each named after one of the seven sins which serves as the theme for the episode. I thought the sixth episode was a little forced, but they wanted to stick with the sins theme.
For someone familiar with the setting, there's a lot of references to find. Everything from familiar weapons, moves and even a few scenes that look inspired by stuff from the game. There are several characters that are obviously inspired by game characters, although you won't find any familiar faces and even locations are drastically different from their in-game counterparts. Both Rook's and Grigori's voice actors are in it though. Maybe a few others, but I haven't checked.
They took some liberties with the setting, but I thought most of them were good changes, like expanding on the size of Gransys and the abilities of both the pawn and some of the monsters. There are several new towns and villages that are not in the game. Classes don't get mentioned, but several will be obvious, even if they can do more here due to not being restricted by gameplay balance.
The final episode is full-on reference porn, and is definitely the best of them, although I saw the end coming before the show was even released and didn't like exactly how it ended. Every scene looked like it came from the tainted mountain. Spent the entire time thinking, "I've been there," and "I did that." They clearly took some inspiration from Berserk again, and not just with the animation style. There's nudity and sex in a few episodes, and the violence is gorier than what you find in the game. The mature themes don't bother me any but if you were wanting to watch it with your kids, or if you're more sensitive to those themes, you should be warned. Still wish they'd used the studio that did Castlevania, since I prefer hand drawn to cgi, but that's just my personal taste.
Definitely worth watching, if you're a fan of Dragon's Dogma.

New Dragon's Dogma Pawn Guild (Steam, Switch, Xbone, PS3/4).
I was browsing the Steam Active Pawn thread by Karathrax today and discovered that they now have a new pawn guild site.
"We have a new site, located here: pawnguild.xyzONLY YOU CAN LIST YOUR PAWN. REGISTER AND CREATE YOUR OWN LISTING. Registering a log-in is a simple procedure; this is NOT a Steam log-in. Fill in the questionnaire regarding your pawn, insert a picture file if you like, and you can make a request or advise players about something specific about your pawn in Notes, and you're good to go! Once posted, a pawn is assigned four activity stars. Each week, on Sunday, one star is removed. If the pawn is never updated by its creator, then after four weeks the last star will vanish, and the pawn becomes invisible to other viewers of the site. All it takes to keep your pawn active is to make an update, which can also be when you make a change or level up. If your pawn is inactive, it will be there when you log in-- refresh its stars by updating it. The database is shared by the readers here at Steam, r/dragonsdogma on reddit, and a discord server called Dragon's Dogma Central. Once YOU LIST YOUR PAWN, it will be seen by all three groups." (Karathrax, Steam)

So I dived back into this, starting from scratch. The game has excellent mechanics but it seems two elements have totally borked the balance. The first is this 'armor' set: Then there's my secondary pawn who seems to be a maxed out level? She almost one shots everything except large monsters. Fun for a while but now the game has zero challenge. Finally my main pawn. Just posting because she's adorable. I also don't see any better equipment for my main pawn either as what she's wearing seems to be the best available. So do I just need to metagame here? Progression with gear is now pointless and I have a huge amount of money. Also, do mages get better staffs ever?

slimgrin727 Whaaaa??? Style over substance, sweetie! But seriously, do you only go down one line of progression for your pawn, or do you multi-class? (max out all different classes) One of the fun things to do, is utilize some of the unique build options and stats on things that are not classic "sets". You can still get some really strong hits in, but playstyle will be different. Adds diversity and silly fun. ("Todd" needs to become ONE with your pawn.... see rest of the thread for further reference. Have fun!

What's this? Thread activity? The outfits seem overpowered at the start of the game, but they eventually become outclassed by individual armor bits in each slot. I never used them as I just plain hated the look of them, except when I needed someone to dress up as a nun or to be a stand-in for Reynard. Which was a handful of times. Definitely ditch your friend's pawn if you don't like the lack of challenge, (I assume they're a friend as otherwise they'd cost millions of rift crystals to hire) as they're severely lowering your experience gains. And yes, mages do get better staves. Gran Soren has a bunch, at Caxton's and at the Black Cat. I don't recall what Cassardis' selection was, if any. They're not big on weaponry. They're big on fish.

So I dived back into this, starting from scratch. The game has excellent mechanics but it seems two elements have totally borked the balance. The first is this 'armor' set: Some of the DLC items can trivialize early combat. I recently restarted myself, and the early combat is pretty trivial if you already know what you're doing, anyway. The better items are defensive, for the most part. Your first big jumps in difficulty are usually around the time you meet the duke, where things may even out a bit, or the missions where you take on the Salvation cult. Not long after, you'll be better off with armour sets that have different pieces, as they'll provide more total advantages (and protection.) I also don't see any better equipment for my main pawn either as what she's wearing seems to be the best available. So do I just need to metagame here? Progression with gear is now pointless and I have a huge amount of money. Also, do mages get better staffs ever? Mage staves sort-of lag and spike more than the other weapons, when it comes to balance on a first playthrough. The ones you can buy at end-game from the Everfall can be quite expensive, even costing millions, from what I remember. The ones from the Bitter Black Isle are typically a time-investment to acquire and upgrade, more than a direct gold cost. When bringing weapons to be purified, be aware that the possible random results are based on the current occupations of you and your pawn. If you're looking for a mage staff, switch both of you to mage and the odds are pretty high that's what you'll get.

News PS5 Xbox Series X | S Xbox One PS4 Switch PC Dragon’s Dogma 2 is Reportedly In Development at Capcom Right Now By Logan Moore | November 20, 2020 11:18 AM EST 10 Dragon's Dogma 2 looks as though it is real, which will surely make many fans of the first title more than pleased.
Capcom has slowly been returning to a lot of its dormant properties over the years with new chapters in the Devil May Cry and Resident Evil franchises likely being the most noteworthy. As time continues to go on, though, fans continue to ask the publisher to make new installments of other games that haven’t been seen or heard from in quite a bit. Fortunately, for one of those franchises, it sounds as though a return should be coming about in the future.
As reported by of IGN, Capcom is said to currently be developing Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is a much-requested sequel to the publisher’s popular Action-RPG. The original Dragon’s Dogma first released back in 2012 and has since been ported over to PS4, Xbox One, and Switch via its newer Dark Arisen iteration, but word on an outright sequel has largely been silent on Capcom’s front.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was actually first found to be mentioned in Capcom’s major data leak that came about earlier this week, with the game being said to arrive by the publisher’s 2022 fiscal year. That said, IGN itself also was able to verify this information with independent sources of its own, seemingly confirming that it is in the works, even though the release window might no longer be true. As a whole, this revelation isn’t much of a shock, but it will surely please many who have been clamoring for a follow-up entry.
In the near future, we likely shouldn’t expect Capcom to formally announce Dragon’s Dogma 2, especially considering the way in which it has leaked. That said, as we get closer to the game’s planned release window, we should get a first look at it soon enough. Does anyone know if it's true? Does anyone have news? We've waited soooooo long! Longer than 84 years, I think.

Gamepad is a bit better for melee classes, but kb+m is by far better than many games of that type, you just need to spend some tima and get use to it.

Yes, lets downloading it again!!! Might actually be more interesting than playing Skyrim again for me. I started the anime when it released and then went "why bother, I already know the story" before finishing the first episode. But I'll probably watch it at some point.

I did download it last night and played for about 30 minutes trying to reacquaint myself with the controls and such. I will def be playing again today.
In all the time I'd been absent poor Nick had only been rented once, but at least they gave him all 5 stars I have Chase and Seel with me atm. If I'm not friends with any of you on Steam and you want to be pls let me know.
ETA: I watched the first episode last night. I think I'll watch the whole thing

If I'm not friends with any of you on Steam and you want to be pls let me know. Same here, my Steam ID is in my sig. Take advantage of my Strider or Ranger (can't remember witch one is she atm) pawn before I download the game and start fresh.

I added both of you to my Steam account. I guessed the Tahirii based on the avatar, I'm pretty sure I got the right one.

I still play here and there, and by 'play' I mean 'turn on the ps4 and get distracted by my capture gallery'. I only have around 2000 photos Haven't actually made any progress on my billions of alts. No, I lie, Zihark hit 200 a while back. Alynna's still in her early 100s, the others are around 40. I still write, too. I'll bang out a few words a couple times a week, then wonder how I can possibly get pictures to represent what I've written. I'm so far behind on the pictures. I'll always come back to Dragon's Dogma, it's one of, if not the only game I can sit and play for hours and still enjoy it just as I did years ago. Obligatory Photo. Have to do something with them.
