So if I do want to do Access, should I cancel my current pre-order then sign up for Access and redo the pre-order to get the discount? Then cancel Access after the middle of March. I think that's the process? I don't think you need to cancel your pre-order, since they don't actually charge you for it until the pre-load becomes available (if I recall correctly - Inquisition is the only game I've ever pre-ordered so it's been a while). But, to be safe, maybe go ahead and do that. Here's what I had planned to do for the early launch (before realizing I could play Jade Empire and the Dead Space Trilogy and Mirror's Edge for free with the subscription, along with a couple games I wanted to play with my stepdaughter). 1. The pre-load for Andromeda will likely become available about a week before launch. As soon as it becomes available (or the day before), subscribe to Access, then pre-order the game again. (For those of you angry people having a hard time with the math - the subscription for the month costs $5. 10% off the game - a perk for subscribing - is between $6 and $10, depending on the version of the game you buy. 6-5=1. 7-5=2. 10-5=5. You just saved $1 for the regular version, $2 for the deluxe, $5 for the super deluxe, even with paying the subscription fee.) 2. Pre-load the game! 3. On March 16, play the game early for 10 hours. 4. On March 21 (/23), play the full game! Also, don't forget to take a minute and cancel your Access subscription, so you don't forget! 5. Profit. You just saved money! And you, my angry friends, just screwed EA out of a dollar or five. Bonus? Edit: In case it's not clear my snark wasn't directed toward you boots, but toward the people in the thread who seem irrationally mad about this whole deal. Thank you. I don't understand the anger about this, either. But to each his own.

I might not play for 10 hours on the 16th, but I'll definitely use most of it up. Then use up the rest the next day. I could wait until the 18th and do that, but I won't. I've got stuff to occupy myself anyway.

Of course, you're not just paying to play early, you're subscribing to a month of service that includes other benefits, including a discount on the game and the ability to play other games at no extra cost. If you ONLY subscribe for one month, it doesn't cost anything. In fact, it saves you $1 on the regular version of the game, because the service comes with a 10 percent discount on all purchases (at least on PC). So, you're not paying $5 for early access, you're trying another service they offer for no cost and getting early access with it. And looking at the games they offer, I've been interested in Unravel and Mirror's Edge Catalyst, but not enough to buy them. And I'm going to pre-order the deluxe version no matter what. So I'm going to be able to 1) ultimately save $2 on a game I know I'm buying anyways and 2) have a chance to play a couple of games I was curious about without paying anything. Then if I don't think the service looks like it's going to continue to be a value to me, I can cancel. What you're describing is something different than what is actually being offered. I get PS4 owners being annoyed. And for people who really want to buy a physical copy, I get them being annoyed. But that scenario you setup just isn't reality. Exactly. Regarding PS4, EA wanted it, Sony refused. Which gives me a lot more respect for Sony, though their intentions aren't clear.

I bet you whatever that when Sony said "no" they didn't have customer's interests in mind. Your respect is misplaced.

I bet you whatever that when Sony said "no" they didn't have customer's interests in mind. Your respect is misplaced. That's why I said their intentions aren't clear. You don't know if they didn't have customers in mind. Even some corporations know one valid strategy is to actually cater to your customers. Let me once again reiterate that my problem is not with more options, it's with pay-gating something that I don't think should be pay-gated. I think we've both made our cases, and neither of us have changed opinions. That happens. I expect I'm probably in the minority too. I'm just making my case.

Origin offering free 7 day trial of Origin Access, meaning you can get the 10% off ME: Andromeda at no charge
Origin is offering a free trial of Origin Access so if you were planning on using it to get the 10% off an ME:A Pre-order now is a pretty good time.

I see what you're doing there, EA. Trying to challenge my "I don't pre-order" with a discount like that.
Actually as far as reasons to pre-order go, a 10% discount on a game you're extremely likely to buy anyway isn't the worst.

I'd do it, except for the fact that Amazon Prime, Green Man Gaming, Best Buy Gamers Club, and CDkeys already have that price beat.
I'm not getting Access until a few days before so I can play three days early with the 10 hours + VPN unlock.
But I guess if you plan on leveraging Access features for more than Mass Effect, it could be worth it.

They get you with the lack of digital deluxe edition support on platforms other than origin itself. They've stated they will offer an upgrade, but it doesn't sound like it will be available at launch Irks me personally because I've been hanging onto an amazon gift card

If I'm going to pre-order, it would be off Greenmangaming. They offer a 20% discount, haven't seen anything that beats it for now.

That is weird because I was not aware that BW/EA even had a sale. I had purchased Super deluxe (which is what is in my library) before knowing that its just a bunch of extra MP, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the price tag for $69.99. I had no idea how that happened at first, but this explains it.

Those who get the demo: Let us know if there's anything like the 'kid in the vent' this time around. Let us all hope that no such event occurs. I'm working with a PC, but i'll probably hold off until full launch to play. Plan on taking a few days off of work and don't want any limitations.

The main reason why I don't pre-order is because it typically offers very little while you still don't know if the game is actually any good or not. Especially being that I'm on PC and will just download the game, so it's not like I need to worry about reserving a copy for myself. Origin isn't going to run out of digital copies of the game. Though a 10% discount isn't the worst pre-order bonus.

And yes, I always go in full spoiled.

Was toying with getting EA Access just for ME as else i'll have to avoid this place from the 16th onwards but i'm hoping Horizon Zero Dawn will keep me occupied until the 23rd. Plus lets be honest most people will manage to spend around half of the allocated time of the trial on the first day, so you'll be sat around waiting to play after having already played the game... that sounds like torture to me.

I'm only on a PC and Bioware's last port to PC (DAI) was just a buggy mess and very poorly done. There is no way I'm forking over any cash until I see what state it's in for PC first and get to see some footage of the mechanics and so forth. If I like what I see, then I will pay full price, if not I will either skip it or wait until it's at a price I think it's worth.
