Didn't you listen to Solas? The Evanuris weren't gods, just extremely powerful mages.
That said, I get what you're saying. Fen'Harel is arguably the most powerful being to yet appear in the Dragon Age series. He can kill with a thought. If we're to successfully oppose him, then we're going to need some pretty potent magical protection.

Plus he clearly took Mythal's power. So, for argument's sake, he's as close to a god that exists in the world, so that's how I'm going to regard him. Cold blooded knife-ear SOB.....:::trails off into curses in three languages::::

I can't....not for a while. I just spent the same time as watching all of Babylon 5-a epic story BTW, as playing a game, and then another 80-100 hours playing the first two. I'm taking a week off from games to clear some crap on my DVR, then it's time to either do ME 1-3, or just 2 and 3, before Andromeda comes out.

Especially since the majority of them are not complete lies made from pure bs, but are carefully constructed half-truths. Makes it sting all the more. And let's not forget all of the wolf statues littered throughout most of the game...and his jawbone necklace....like, really, I think the creators wanted to mock us at how the dread wolf was in front of us despite how many hints the game gave.

Assuming the next protagonist is from Tevinter, that still leaves how anyone can stop Fen'Harel when he possesses the power to turn someone into stone. I suppose the redemption angle that the Inquisitor can pursue would make a lot of sense when you consider that there doesn't seem to be a logical way to actually kill him (a small force of Qunari warriors were all defeated by Fen'Harel, so it's not as if he has a problem dispatching a number of enemies all at once).

I suppose it would, but knowing how these sort of games go, I think they are going to avoid that route. I imagine the next plot of the game will be about de-powering Solas somehow, or otherwise trying to find a way to counteract it so he can be killed. And maybe try to figure out who to do with his soul too (If Mythal is anything to go by).

I think we're more likely to imprison him than kill him, as he did with the Evunaris. Or what the Wardens did to Corypheus. Hell, he says practicing blood magic would interfere with his Fade-walking... so I wonder if the trade-off for defeating Solas would be some kind of mass blood sacrifice?
Alternatively, he may sacrifice his own life if we convince him he's in the wrong.
Or perhaps it'll be a Cole situation, and the result will depend on whether he considers himself more of a god or a man.

In the Twitter thread a few pages back I was also floating the idea of having a new PC for most of the game but also controlling your inquisitor to make major decisions for a smaller part of the game -- maybe 10-20% or thereabouts. You could even play your protagonists against each other -- for example my inquisitor would probably opt for the mass blood sacrifice to kill Solas whereas I could play my new protagonist as trying to redeem him to avoid the sacrifice. Or vice versa! That could create a really interesting RP tension for the game.

I'd opt for my inquisitor being the one to recruit me, then, some half way through the game, my inquisitor being killed by Solas, perhaps in the process of de-powering Fen'Harel. That would leave my new PC to deliver the killing blow or opt for saving solas from himself. A choice made all the more difficult if he is responsible for the Inquisitors death (add to that the possibility the inquisitor may have been his love!) que the feels. Ofcourse, a part of me kinda wants Solas to succeed! Bring down the veil and make Thedas Fadey again!

I also suspect it'll wind up with Solas being de-powered in the end, very likely with Morrigan taking on her mother's power.
But I suspect there'll be a catch. Maybe we stop Solas during some critical juncture in his plans, and the Evanuris are set free.
I also kinda want to see Solas partially succeed. I think it'd be interesting to have a (contained) region on Thedas where the real world and the Fade have all blended back together.

Merge the Fade with the entire world? Seems unlikely as there's still plenty of it we haven't explored in-game yet. But a contained region? I can see that.

Same. I think it would be the best change of direction ever. I doubt Bioware would do it though. It would have to be a very good story. The graphics would be amazing. I'll be happy with seeing Solas again even if he is the enemy in DA4. Yep, I'd love to see Solas in DA4, from what little I have gathered 4 will be the game in which we deal with Solas, to what outcome, I can only guess. As for Solas succeeding, While I would to love to see it, to get some of the answers regarding the nature of the fade, the elves, spirits and demons, the Evanuris and so many other things. I think it would be a gold mine in that respect but from a longevity of the series viewpoint. Well. I think it would be the end of Dragon Age I too think the graphics and room for creativity in the game world, would be limitless or atleast limited only to time and resources on the development teams side anyway! If nothing else, I'm hoping the Elves become relevant in some fashion, more organised and informed about their original natures, if only to add another counterpoint to the human centric chantry.

Btw, is it still unclear what did Solas do with Mythal/Flemeth in the epilogue ? Pretty much. What with Flemeth/Mythal having "seemingly" sent something through the Eluvian, but we don't know what, we are left to assume that Flemeth/Mythal is now part of Solas/Fen'Harel, or a portion of her power has been passed to him. I'm rather hoping that what Flemeth sent through the Eluvian, was that part of her that was Mythal, simply because I want Flemeth/Mythal to return. It could be said that what Solas took from Flemeth/Mythal was the old god soul but that doesn't explain what happened for those that didnt have the old god soul reborn in their keep history, who still get the same scene. It's one of the big questions I'm most depserate for an answer to! EDIT: I have for the moment, headcanoned that Flemeth sent a piece of Mythal through the Eluvian to Morrigan, who will take on Flemeths mantle by choice. But I really want Flemeth back.

I don't think we've seen the last of Morrigan. Not only can she potentially drink from the Well but if Kieran is an OGB then he refers to her as "the Inheritor" who awaits the next age. Flemeth also referred to the Inquisitor as the "Herald of Change". So it would seem the plan by Flemeth was to get Solas to restore the world to what it should be, deal with the Evanuris and then Morrigan to take over control, having inherited the power that Flemeth sent through the eluvian before Solas arrived.

To me this brings another lingering question: what is the difference between Flemeth and Mythal ? When we talk to her, are we talking to one, the other, or both ? Also, who is Flemeth ? Is it the woman that was imprisoned and accepted Mythal into her and when she changes of body, both consciousness are transfered ? Or is Flemeth the latest host that continued to pass the soul of Mythal ?

Assuming the next protagonist is from Tevinter, that still leaves how anyone can stop Fen'Harel when he possesses the power to turn someone into stone. I suppose the redemption angle that the Inquisitor can pursue would make a lot of sense when you consider that there doesn't seem to be a logical way to actually kill him (a small force of Qunari warriors were all defeated by Fen'Harel, so it's not as if he has a problem dispatching a number of enemies all at once). Well, if there's a range limit, or if he doesn't have any anti-stealth measures, you could just kill him with a crossbow. (Fuck help you if the first shot misses, of course.) But that's more something that would work in a tabletop game than something the devs would actually do in a video game. You might already know this, (I know there's others on this thread who do) but last time the final boss in a Bioware RPG had a petrification ability, the PC was still alive after being hit with it despite having no vital functions, and the spell could be reversed with no ill effect. I assume that neither is true here, but that is just an assumption, and one that might be wrong. If it is, that might be related to how we beat it. (Though it wasn't last time; Heurodis sacrificed her petrification ability for control of a powerful artifact that she'd hoped would grant her world domination. It hardly seems like Solas needs more power, though. Although maybe he loses the ability due to something related to bringing down the Veil?)

Concerning Flemeth/Mythal, it is probably something like Anders/Justice, except more so. Anders and Justice had a shared purpose and Justice only seemed to surface if that mutual commitment seemed to be under threat or he felt Anders was in danger. Flemeth was committed to seeing that Mythal had her revenge, so they had a mutual purpose, so Flemeth always seemed the principle consciousness in play. When Solas turned up, Mythal had to be at the forefront of Flemeth's consciousness, since she referred to him as "old friend", which would not be the case with Flemeth.
Flemeth said that Mythal was as much a part of herself as her own heart, which probably accounts for why leaving Flemeth's body killed her. The same was true of Wynne when she voluntarily gave up the spirit within her that was keeping her alive. I'm pretty sure the reason Flemeth lived so long was because of the indwelling spirit of Mythal. The precise nature of the union is probably still something that needs to be explained.
