First time posting here, but I go way back to Baldur's Gate with Bioware message boards.
I've gone through the Deep Roads mandatory battle against the emissary multiple times, even got XP 10+ times for defeating the emissary repeatedly in one ongoing battle, but it keeps respawning. I'm not having trouble beating it at lv 21, but since there's no saving my only option is to reload and start over. Obviously, this is a major drag since it's at least 30 minutes each time, likely more. And, of course, I keep getting the same glitch.
Am I missing something? I've drawn the dark spawn out out of their nest, stomped them in their nest, etc, but nothing makes a difference. They keep respawning endlessly too.
Help please, spoilers ok. Thanks ahead of time for any help. I'm enjoying the Deep Roads and don't want to give up.

I'm so glad I'm not the one who had this issue! I came to this section looking for a solution too. In general I've had a load of trouble with the Descent DLC, companions glitching into the abyss as well.
Unfortunately the only option with it is to reload from the start of the Thaig before the brief cut scene plays. And keep trying. I haven't figured out what causes the Emissary to keep respawning and prevent the Emissary boss from spawning at all; but I think as long as you stick to killing the two Ogres first it should proceed as it's meant to.
Good luck! Thankfully I've found the glitches seem to stop after this point so the rest of the DLC shouldn't give you any more trouble.

Do you mean the Alpha Emissary in the darkspawn nest in the Descent DLC? Or the Emissary that spawns with the two Ogres?
You have to clear the area in stages. If you don't clear the previous area completely, everything respawns. I'm not sure if it's a body count or if there are specific enemies that need to die, possibly both, before an area is considered clear. For sure, if you don't kill the two Alpha Genlocks on the bridge, everything respawns and the door to the Alpha Emissary won't open.

Here's a video I found of the whole battle. Watch the upper right corner of the screen. It shows a progress bar and gives you a hint of what has to be killed next, like 0/2 Ogres.

I'm with PapaCharlie here. I've seen certain darkspawn endlesssly respawn in that section, but I think that's intentional, not a bug.

It's a while since I played but I seem to recall the same. You have to kill certain enemies or the others keep respawning. The first time I played the Descent I seemed to spend ages on the darkspawn battles and began to wonder if they would ever end but eventually they did. You definitely need to keep your party under control too so one of them doesn't go running off and triggers the next battle before you finish the previous one. Follow PapaCharlie's advice and you should be okay.

Thanks for the helpful responses! Yes it's the alpha emissary. I'll give it another try being cautious to do a clean sweep. I am somewhat of a completionist, so I'm pretty sure I've already done this. But I could've missed something.

The real number is that I'm stuck in the stooooooopid wicked eyes wicked heart quest. I think I'll quit the game before completing this quest. It is soooooo boring and tedious.

You can finish WEWH in about 25 minutes including loading screens, maybe +5 minutes if you are not familiar with the map to know where to go when. Watch this speedrun from 2:53:37 to 3:18:00 as a guide:

Otto correct really bothers me... Fortunately, I escaped the winter palace. I didn't realize how close I was to being done. On to the Deep Roads! 😊

Wood hoooo. It worked. I paid special attention to the progress bar and made sure not to move until each target was eliminated. Also, a few times I tried to back door the fight against the Genlocks by crossing beefing them by the gear locked door. But this may have created some problems. Must admit, this is the glitchiest game I've played in years. Reminds me of old Bioware games when I always spent hours researching and patching them. I guess some things don't change much. Bioware has put out some great games over the years, but they all seem to suffer this same cancer. Well, maybe not so much Mass Effect but I haven't played them. I know I need to.
