Conspiracy theory: Clue about why BSN was closed

I noticed over on Twitter both Patrick Weekes and Mike Laidlaw started tweeting back to fans that they did not wish to see us pitching them ideas about the plot for future Dragon Age games because they could not base their ideas on something fans had come up with. This seemed strange to me that they'd go as far as to publically ask people to avoid doing this, so I've begun maybe EA or someone else at BioWare have begun imposing restrictions on the creative process at the company to avoid plagiarism or hack-work maybe, which is understandable, but considering how Twitter works it's also pretty impossible to avoid not getting a good idea from some random poster.

But if you think about it, it makes sense. Ever since Andromeda had been confirmed to be this voyage of Arks that go to another galaxy, I instantly thought back to the "Ark Theory" that I briefly skimmed through, which was an insanely popular thread over at the now-closed BSN boards. It was a fan-made theory about how the endings could be averted if the council races, the alliance or some other organizations had been planning a voyage away from Milky Way in secret to evacuate the species from the Reaper invasion. I've always thought the concept of Andromeda was so obviously taken from this fanmade concept, and that makes me wonder now that BSN is closed... did EA find this out and decide to lock down the forums because of that? And, as a continuing thing they're now placing restrictions on BioWare about making further use of fan-made ideas in the future?

It's a pretty embarassing thing honestly. I always thought that. That BioWare ends up basing their next game on a fanfiction crackpot theory? It's almost unheard of in a AAA professional industry of writers who are paid for their work. We may never know, but I thought the whole closing of BSN was so mysterious. I know it was toxic, but the closing still seemed so sudden compared to how much the atmosphere had died down there anyway. The toxicity I thought was worse the years prior to the closing when ME3 was really hot and touchy.

Might just be me seeing patterns that only exist in my head, but I wanna know what other people in the know of the "Ark Theory" think of this.
