What's your ultimate favorite staff schematic for late game? In my case, I've tended to favor Staff of Corruption. With metal and cloth offensive slots, you can load up on barrier and guard penetration. For me, this is important because I play on nightmare with trials on and frequently run into enemies that have been "promoted" and have either full guard or full barrier. Unfortunately, you can't attach a staff blade or grip to up utility attributes.

Wrath of Lovias is my fave, because of the three offence slots and upgrades. Second to that is Staff of Corruption as mentioned in the OP.

Power-wise, I like Encore for the extra buffs. Style-wise, I...still like Encore, really. Would be cool to play a KE with Brand instead of Blade of Tidarion, though (unfortunately not actually doable normally, even though it's a "staff").

Encore, but sometimes the special effects annoy me when I'm taking screenshots/video, so then I switch to Wrath of Lovias. Upgradability rules.

Oh man I like so many of them. The battlemage staff, the witch staff, the archemage staff..... But most of my mage characters end up using unique staves.
Trevelyan: Accuser's Staff Lavellan 1: Heart of Despair/Encore Lavellan 2: Blade of Tidarion (well ok not really a staff...but still.)

Encore, Inscribed Staff Grip, Masterwork Archon Staff Blade, and Superb Spirit Rune Dragon Bone, Everite, Great Bear Hide, King's Willow Weave, and Fade-Touched Royale Sea Silk(Mind Blast)
I call it the Axis of the Fade. The way I see it, his experiences in the war would have given Trevelyan a preference for staves that he can fight with if he is somehow unable to use his magic. And since I like playing a support mage, the buffs are awesome.

Where do you get Encore?? I usually use the Lyrium infused staff because it has the highest damage... but I am a simpleton when it comes to strategic play...

From one of those minigames like finding Harlequins and the firework show. I think it was from collecting halla statues but I could be mistaken.

And since I like playing a support mage, the buffs are awesome. I didn't realize you could plus up Encore with a staff blade and a staff grip! I crafted one with a focus on building up attack as suggested above. Then I got creamed by the Magister Julinex at the Venatori base in the Hissing Wastes. Playing on Nightmare with trials, he seemed to have an almost impenetrable barrier. I crafted another Encore staff, but this one with barrier penetration and that flattened him rather quickly!

Encore (Dragon Webbing x16, Ice Dragon Bone x6) Hilted Staff Grip (Ice Dragon Hide x8, Dragon Webbing x3) Dragon Staff Blade (Ice Dragon Hide x6, Ice Dragon Bone x3) ...gives 18% Attack, 28% Crit, and 67% Crit Dmg. Wrath of Lovias can do more average damage (depending on other gear), but I prefer the looks and buffs of Encore.
Heart of Despair is fun, too. No crit bonus though.

That's like the totality of all Ice Dragon materials in the entire game -- you'll have to scour JoH and beat the final boss at a minimum. Or load a merchant mod that sells them, much easier. You don't need all that Tier 4 stuff to get good results with Encore or whatever staff you pick. Tier 3 is plenty good enough.

Right, in fact I think it uses every single piece of Ice Dragon Hide in the game. But the Ice Dragon mats aren't totally required. You can substitute Great Bear Hide for Ice Dragon Hide and Everite/Stormheart for Ice Dragon Bone and get something almost as good. The only T4 requirement is Dragon Webbing in order to get crit damage in the cloth slots. There's plenty of that around to farm or buy.

By contrast, the ones in DAO are more memorable if for no other reason than there are so few really good ones. In DA2 it had a different name: The Staff of Violation. It belonged to Orsino and was only available during the end after his death. Unless of course you use the console commands on PC which I do so I have the staff from the beginning of every playthrough. The DA2 version had a chance to infect enemies with Walking Bomb. To duplicate this in Inquisition you have to craft the staff with a specific and rare material that I forget it's name.
